I am mortified
The idea was for me to be away from the computer for a few days. We are just past referrals and it doesn’t look like there will be any statement this weekend. I thought this would be the perfect time for me to step away so I can come back refreshed.
My husband said he’d keep an eye on things. I was off enjoying the out of doors when my husband called me to let me know what was being said. As the title says, I am mortified.
Rule number one is to be nice, dammit.
I just drove 20 minutes to get home so I can make him an admin. He is RK, for Rumor King.
I haven’t read through the comments yet and I’m not going to until next week. I did look through emails real quick and I see several people who have asked their agency about weight restrictions and their agency doesn’t know anything. I also see another statement that an agency spoke with the CCAA recently and was told that the process is not going to speed up anytime soon and that families should prepare for a wait of up to 18 months.
So, with that news I am going to again walk away from the computer. My husband is in charge for a few days, and I should warn you that his mentality is to just ban people who can’t be civil.
I am going to turn off new registrations - no one will be able to register again until next week. I want to keep comments turned on because if some news does happen to break then I want ya’ll to be able to talk about it. However, if the current trend of not being nice continues then my husband will make all comments moderated and none of them will be approved until I get back on the computer - which at this point I think will be either Sunday night or Monday morning.
I will read through all of the comments and figure things out then. Right now, I’m about to go back out in the sunshine.
If ya’ll need something to talk about then maybe you can brainstorm the best ways to convince our Senators and Representatives to extend the I-171H. From what I’m hearing they want the homestudy to be recent to make sure we still meet the qualifications - perhaps we should ask for an extension at a reduced fee with a statement from our social worker saying nothing has changed, or listing what has changed but stating we are still qualified. Or maybe one of ya’ll have a better idea. We have very intelligent people, surely we can brainstorm this and come up with a solution that they will feel comfortable with?

RQ & RK (welcome!)
I too am mortified about some of the extend this thread has taken. You said just what was needed! This thread should only be about real “rumors” and facts. There is no need to “preach” about the way people choose to live their lives. Everyone makes their own choices and that is why we are American and live in a free society.
Everyone, whether weight challenged or not, is worried about the possibility of new guidlines and there is nothing any one of us ca do about them when they come in. They will be what they will be and we will have to either change to meet them or choose not to. Everyone should gain a little patience and not go overboard until we all find out exactly what the truth is and then figure out where to go from there.
Enjoy your sunshine! Have a few frozen drinks! Eat some chocolate or ice cream or blueberries (my favorite) or whatever else calms your nerves and helps put you at peace. If you like to read, pick up a really big FICTION book about whatever suits your fancy and “escape” into another world. For me, I’m going to play softball all day tomorrow at the benefit for my nephew’s memorial scholorship fund, do some gardening (got to get those tomatoes planted) and absolutely do nothing that I “have” to do until Tuesday. Everyone…..have a great holiday weekend and try to find the joy in your life and in the small world around you. YOu will feel much better for it!

…. bull broncing or moderating this page? If you had to choose….

Thank you again RQ for the tremendous job you are doing. This is your page and your rules.
I am one of those who come here for rumours, rumours and speculations only. I sympathize with all those who need to give opinions, vent, etc. But I rarely want to read those messages, although they are often in the same thread as the real interesting stuff (rumourwise). Is it possible to split these functions up? I would hate this page to become hard work for those running it, and I could not survive it closing down!
As for being nice, that is kind of elementary in all human intercation, so I am not saying that anyone, in any kind of thread, can not be nice…

I am not so stressed now about the possibility of redoing our 171-H. We are currently updating our homestudy (ex. 5/06) and our fingerprints (9/06). I asked my Social Worker today about having to re-do everything for our expiring 171-H and she said not to sweat it. As long as everything remains the same we won’t have to pay for a 3rd homestudy! Yeah! I hope your Social Worker will be considerate for ya’ll too, but most of all I’m praying that NO ONE WILL HAVE TO REDO THE 171-H!
Happy sunning RQ- happy memorial day - everyone needs to CHILL!

Someone just posted on APC (250453) that their agency thinks it will take 3 months for each month of referrals and that for a late July LID, they may travel at CHRISTMAS.

Our agency sent out an e-mail informing everyone that the wait time can possible increase to 18 months!! How depressing is that!!!
May 27th, 2006 at 12:57 pm
I hope this is all this talk of an 18 month wait is just talk, but if it do comes to pass, I hope all who are waitng really start contacting their Senators, Congreesman etc. From what I was told CIS did grant an extension before. Can anyone confirm this? We should all make ALOT OF NOISE! I hope everyone has a wonderful Memorial Day. I am still being very positive that things will get better. I am hopeful that the wait will not go pass 12 months. If more negative news comes out let all of us do something positve by trying to get that extension!

Please look at the CCAA website under update news…there’s 3 posts in Chinese that have 5-29-05 dates - Have these always been there? Should they be 06? Pardon my jumpyness - but this looked new to me.

Katri,
They are translated on the last postings under “weight issues”.
Nothing regarding the wait times.
