Another interesting email

I have some clarification of the earlier positive email from this post.

I’d first like to point out that this has gone through two translations - from Chinese to the other language and then to English. And then I will point out that I am heavily paraphrasing to protect the source.

  • The CCAA has a goal of not going over 12 months.
  • They are training new staff
  • Things will speed up considerably when….. (the translation doesn’t make much sense here, it could mean it will speed up when it is okay for it to speed up, it could mean that it will speed up when they get everyone trained and moved, it could mean something else)
  • As for an estimate, it looks like this person’s estimate is that early October people will get their referral in October possibly September. The November thing was a mis-communication.

This seems like a credible rumor. It goes against much of what we are seeing, and yet it is in line with the CCAA director telling the December LID father-to-be that he would get his referral in December.

If they do 10 to 12 days this time and then get through the first half of July next time, and if there are three weeks between referrals instead of four then that takes us to LIDs through July 14th that get referred on July 7th. Still just under a year. If they continue to do referrals once a month though, then that takes us to the end of July with LID’s going through July 14th, which would mean they would have some catching up to do at some point to get it back under a year.

So, that’s the most positive spin I’ve been able to put on this for a long time.

I still have the echo of another agency in the back of my head. The agency that recently met with the CCAA in Beijing and told their people that the current slow down in matching isn’t likely to change in the foreseeable future. This isn’t new, I’ve reported on it before, but it comes from a reputable agency and it’s hard to ignore.

I still have hopes though. Hopes that they can keep it to a year. Hopes that our family will have our youngest daughter in our arms by Christmas. With an end of September LID this is starting to not look very likely. But I still hope.

I had talked to my agency (remain nameless) on an unrelated matter and asked them about this very issue as well. They expressed to me that they are cautiously optimistic that the wait is still going to be 10-12 months. Mostly because they have not heard anything else from CCAA. so, they feel this is the best information to give to their families. Furthermore, they also stated that they expect me to be in the next batch of referalls and I’m an LID of 6/30. Optimistic? I sure hope they are right

  2. oscar1elmo Says:

You know what I find so funny, well not so funny actually more like pathetic, LOL! I read and re-read rumor after rumor, and it feels like every month we go in circles doesn’t it? I think that the longer you follow all the rumors, the more you realize that they are always going to be all over the map!!!! I think I’m getting dizzy!

  3. mgdesigner Says:

Since I also have a late September LID (9/26), I, too, prefer to remain somewhat cautiously optimistic that we’ll have our babies home for Christmas. Thanks, RQ, for some positive rumors. Yes, I realize that this could, and probably will, turn negative just as quick. ;)

  4. tiebie Says:

I can live with an October Refferal! We have an LID of 10-24 and I was too depressed! We are still not through the review, can anyone tell us more???
We are just back from a short holliday to Istanbul. It was great and it did us lots of good not to be behind the computer all day, waiting for some good news.
Today we got back and than we read this news! Fantastic!
Maybe there’s an light at the end of the tunnel?

  5. NOvary Says:

If the CCAA only refers 10-12 days this time, late June people will wait 13 months. The wait will then go over 12 months. For the wait to stay at 12 months, my June 29 LID has to be referred at the end of this month. I don’t think that’s likely–that’s 14 days (10 business, but who’s counting?) I would love for this to happen, but I think I’ll have a 13 month wait.

  6. tgredthread Says:

    NOvary-
I hope for you that it happens next month. (12months) I really do. You’re sooooo close.
I would have to say though with an 8.10 LID if we were guaranteed a 13 month wait right now I’d go buy drinks for everyone. :)

  7. RumorQueen Says:

NOvary - that is true if they do referrals one month apart. However, if they do referrals three weeks apart then they manage to keep it under 12 months. Barely.

If my math is right that would be through June 27th referred June 16th, so just under that magical 12 months, and then through July 14 referred on July 7th, also just under 12 months.

  8. flowerpower Says:

Dizzy, Oscar, so am I. Last time I was in this I just kind of sat back and waited. Impossible this time. Unless the CCAA goes back on track.
I remember those innocent days when rumors came in about once a month on the APC. Today, we have had several contradictory rumors just in one day. And we keep wanting more! I am dizzy but totally addicted.

  9. wadi Says:

Well, a positive rumour. I can live with that, being LID spring 2006. Still hoping for a referral spring 2007!

Better start loosing some weight, just in case. Well wanting to that anyway, so what’s better than a new reason.

  10. Emanual Says:

I think I almost prefer the bad rumors. These good rumors make my heart thump and my brain hurt. LID 6/28

  11. Lnscooter Says:

Hi, This is the first time I have posted and wanted to put in my 2 cents. I have been reading the rumors and comments on this site for several months now. What a great source of information and it helps me keep in touch with what’s going on. Thanks RQ for all the hard work you do!
Here’s my input. I know that everyone says China wants to slow down the number of international adoptions during the time of the Olympics to make themselves look as positive to the world as possible. I’m thinking that if things really slow down and we are all backed up into that time, that will not look good and there will be alot of upset people out there. I don’t think China wants that. I think they might be discouraging people from starting the process now by making the program not look as attractive as it once was. Then I think they will try to get as many of our adoptions completed as possible before the Olympics. (I have a 4/12 LID) I am trying to stay positive and hope that it stays around 12 months.

  12. GraciesMom Says:

I am becoming so numb that the good rumors almost do not penetrate!! Yet, I also am totally addicted!

  13. jfkof3 Says:

RQ, i believe you are correct with your math. i’m taking this one as a positive…yeah! you read it here on RQ, drinks for everyone courtesy of tgred. NOvary, i’m pullin for ya. i’ll stick with my original opinion, referrals comin soon in june. lid-8-8

  14. oscar1elmo Says:

ok tgred, you know we’re all holding you to the drink offer now!

  15. toc1124 Says:

NOvary–I also have a 6/29 LID, so I’m going crazy as well. I’m praying to be included next month, but I’m not getting my hopes up too much. I think I’ll have some vodka and water ice to make me feel better–yummmy.

  16. GraciesMom Says:

I just read on China adopt site posted from someone in Norway. It said… The CCAA has recently been in Norway (19th of May) and our agency informs that
they are workig on opening several new Welfare Institutes for international
adoption. The agency futhermore informes that the CCAA is hoping to stabilize the time
from LID to referral to approx 12 months

  17. amygum Says:

I contacted our agency and they said that from LID to travel they still feel it will be 12 months. It is good to hear and I do think that things will speed up soon. :)

  18. threebluesteps Says:

On one hand, a conflicting-rumour-whiplash effect is in full force for me too.

On the other hand, the single most consistent rumour over the past month or so — coming from a range of countries, agencies, and individuals with an ‘in’ — seems to be the CCAA’s 12-month-wait goal. (The second-most consistent rumour is the 18-month outer limit.)

On the OTHER other hand, the 12-month-wait goal may be impossible for CCAA to fulfill and involves unpredictable factors (outta their control)

On the OTHER, OTHER, other hand . . . well, that’s the hand that’s holding the chocolate martini.
    bottoms up!

  19. lizzie Says:

HOPE SPRINGS ETERNAL!!!!!! Gosh, of all the rumors..please let this be true…right now I would be happy with 13-14 months. 18 is killing me…..

  20. oscar1elmo Says:

hey three blue steps - What are you an OCTOPUS? LOL kidding, perhaps you are seeing so many hands because you have had a few too many of those chocolate martinis?!

  21. tgredthread Says:

octopus, pink elephants, ‘dogs and cats…living together’ (name That movie kiddos ;)
guess i better start saving some money for drinks eh?!
well, providing we all start seeing 12-13month referrals… :D

  22. boots michigan Says:

    Cheers to the CCAA rabbithole!
“Well Neo…. do you take the blue pill or the red pill….?” Shucks, do I swallow the the 12 month rumour or the bail-out-now rumour? (Or do I just buy a great pair of sunglasses and black vinyl suit and run around the walls some more?)

Do we get popcorn with those drinx, o’tgred?

  23. oscar1elmo Says:

popcorn schmopcorn! I want something more along the lines of ummmmmmm Crab Cakes!

  24. jfkof3 Says:

I am laughing out loud, seriously. boots, oscar, tgred…i salute you’all. back to reality…..ha. ok, popcorn sounds good. lid-8-8

  25. livinglife Says:

They would have to finish referring June to stick to 12 months. Two and a half weeks of referrals? Sounds like a dream. I’ll guess we’ll hold our breath yet another month.

    I’m getting dizzy.

  26. boots michigan Says:

Oh yeesh…. oscar….. yer in Alberta…. crab cakes??? Aren’t mountain / prairie oysters more of a delicacy there?

    (heh! ok… ok… sorry….. if…y’know…. too rude… I found out about those last summer in Colorado…. ick… ack… how awful!!!)

  27. boots michigan Says:

jfkof3…. what taste and elegance! You bring the butter and I’ll bring the papertowels. One of us will bring the canopener for oscar.

  28. boots michigan Says:

WHOOPS! Sorry… I realise that I’ve made a VERY biased culinary comment above. How unPC. If you are a fan of bovine delicacies, you have my utmost sincere apologies (and absolute curiousity).

  29. oscar1elmo Says:

ok boots - prarie oysters, UM NO! and whats with the can opener? Have to say my favorite crabcakes are from Mortons, LOVE THEM! But hey, I can slum it and gnaw on the ol’popcorn with you guys! HAHAHAH

  30. boots michigan Says:

Tim Mortons? What… you get a double-double to go?

  31. jfkof3 Says:

boots, you got a deal but don’t forget tgred. i feel so fortunate to be here and receive RQ’s insight and rumors plus have humor on the side. lid-8-8

  32. oscar1elmo Says:

ok boots, VERY FUNNY! ya an ex large double double crabcake to go you crazy lady! I think you’re a lady! buwahahhahahahhahaha ok its now the witching hour!

  33. boots michigan Says:

True…. we’ll put butter on the tgred too!

(eeek! Humour or head-banging, eh?) :)

  34. oscar1elmo Says:

or humorous headbanging! I forgot boots what is your LID?

  35. boots michigan Says:

11/28/05….. (big sigh)…. I’m gonna have to keep up my repertoire of gimpy puns for a looooong time. Your LID?

  36. oscar1elmo Says:

I don’t even have one yet!!!!!!!!!!!!! (this is the part where I start histerically laughing cause if I don’t, I will cry! ) We are just DTC!

  37. jfkof3 Says:

Congrats, oscar. hang in there, it WILL happen. tgred, we will receive our referrals the same time, i’m guessing. i’ll see you in china…ha. lid-8-8

  38. demerle Says:

Hello! I have to say the whole waiting process has been difficult considering when most of us started the wait was 6 months. I think again the most difficult thing is not have any idea if we will have our children in 12 months, 18 months or 2 years. One bit of good news being on the mark would really be wonderful. Especially since I am all ready for her. It truly feels it will never happen. Danielle LID 12/22

  39. boots michigan Says:

big hug oscar!!! le us know when the LID happens!

  40. zoemom Says:

My agency a small one just told me today that the wait for me will be 10 to 12 months from LID. We went DTC recently. I asked about quotas new requirments and wait times and was told no worries they have heard nothing at all about any of it from the CCAA. I feel better because it kinda goes with this new rumor! It feels good to breath again at least until tommorrow!!!!

  41. comeonstork Says:

mountain / prairie oysters, chocolate martinis, crab cakes, oh my! Is that part of the psudo-japanese diet????

lol. love the humor, its good for the sanity.

  42. tgredthread Says:

jeez, see what happens? i step away for awhile and prairie oysters are on the menu? uck! and by the way boots…i’ve been in Colorado for almost 13 years now and nothing doing with those. ouch!

i’ll do drinks with a 12-13 month referall, but no ex-steer bits!!!! :D

  43. Katri Says:

Since everyone is in a good mood - here’s a “Reduced Wait” coupon. I’ve “earned” 29.2 days off my referral wait time…now you can too! Check it out for fun - http://people.wwc.edu/staff/stirra/china/stats/reducewait.html

  44. tgredthread Says:

    oscar-
only thing I can say is congrats on being DTC and LID upcoming! hang in there….besides maybe they’ll have figured everything out and decide on what the heck they’re doing over at the CCAA so you’ll not have more than that 12 month wait ;)

  45. tgredthread Says:

    23.4 day reduction here.
thing that jumped out at me though was the 310days current wait time. wow. 55 more days to being a year DTC. 71 more days til a year since LID.

since boots mentioned Neo…I’ll channel Keanu for my next statement….

    “whoa”

  46. oscar1elmo Says:

nite guys! I have to say that I consider myself extremely lucky, we started this process pretty much knowing it would be quite a wait, so we started early. We started in January when my youngest turned 1, so we have already been blessed with two bio sons ages 3 and 1, and whenever this next little gift comes along we will be okay. I honestly can feel for those dealing with infertility and now the wait, we had our own fertility issues and I know how it feels to think that the day will never come! So everyone hang in there, and I’m glad that we can sometimes come here to get support in whatever wacky form it may be!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And ya - tgredthread, you missed that great bit of back and forth! Take care everybody. Hmmmmmm lets see, tomorrow…same time…same place?????????????

  47. culprits Says:

Thanks for the laughs guys. I just reduced my wait by 28.4 days and have already waited 327 days (is that all?) That adds up to 355 - if I am staying under a year I need a referral in 10 days!! I knew I should be a better coupon shopper. I am hoping and praying these new rumors are correct. Sweet dreams! LID 7/8/05

  48. culprits Says:

Wait! I used my LID on my coupon. I’m even closer than I thought - it asked for DTC. LOL!

  49. NOvary Says:

How depressing–according to that coupon, I’ve been waiting 371 days since my DTC, and I get a referral wait coupon for 48 days. This is sad stuff.

  50. Calamity4e Says:

. . . And so the roller coaster ride of China adoption ascends up the track!!

What a morning– very first activity at work to check the RQ site and see what is going on. This will make for a good day! Perhaps I should quit looking at the rumor site now, while the going is good. Yeah, right!

Somebody pass me a chocolate martini the plate of crab cakes– I want to join this party!

LID 12/20/05 All I want for Christmas is a picture of my daughter! C’mon referrals!
