Maybe they are getting a new server? An, upgraded, one?
Or maybe they are changing the software out? I wouldn’t think so, they just put this software up at the end of last year.
July 13th, 2006 at 9:58 pm
Maybe this is the rumored “closure”? Please…
July 13th, 2006 at 10:14 pm
Hey
If they were going to close wouldn’t they just add it to the notice re web being down??

Well Beth, one would think so.
But with the CCAA… who knows.
July 13th, 2006 at 10:17 pm
Well, if they announce downtime for their server (which is a SMALL thing compared to closing the office for 3 weeks) you would think they’d notify agencies to NOT send dossiers, etc. Maybe this was the source of the rumor and the details were “lost in translation”.

everyone-
usually I’ll post stuff here and there throughout each day…ramblings on ideas I’ve had about why something’s the way it is, whatever, etc.
i haven’t all day until now (i think..? lol)
so here goes….DEEP BREATHS! make sure the bar is securely fastened, throw your arms up in the air, scream, and enjoy the ride. We’re just playing out the same thing as the past months, just with some more intensity to the rumours.
I can’t imagine that anything so drastic would happen with the CCAA or with the process without any real…and I mean REAL evidence/posts/emails/alerts on websites, etc from the agencies. They may not be so forthcoming and may be (ultra) conservative about referral times and waits, but if something happened to diversely affect the process I almost guarantee Everyone would know about it. I’ve let myself (yes a guy’s saying this) get caught up in all this so many times, and maybe i’m just a bit numb to it all, but I’ve sat a couple of times and read all the posts from today and I have to say I’m strangely calm and just looking towards this time next week as we will be days before the next group to go out. And, i might add, it’s a good calm. This time it’s been different.

OMG, TG, I hear what you’re saying BUT the closer we get to LID anniversaries, the crazier we become.
July 13th, 2006 at 11:05 pm
I agree with tgred. I think we’re in the “bad rumor phase”. (please let us be in the bad rumor phase). And hopefully we’ll see some referrals next week.
July 13th, 2006 at 11:09 pm
We just got word that our agency let someone from another group know that this rumor about the CCAA moving and taking up to three weeks is in fact true.
July 13th, 2006 at 11:55 pm
okay, so we knew eventually that the CCAA would be moving. :) But, Oscar… where was the phrase “and will be closed”? or “operations will be suspended until…”? :)
In my office, we’ve moved desk positions, offices, etc around several times over the past years due to reduction or increasing of work force. Part of that moving around involves re-configuring phone and data locations and extensions. As chaotic as it can get, it’s usually gone on without much interruption of business. It’s relatively organised even. I would imagine, as someone suggested on a previous thread, that departments within the CCAA would move…groups would move at a time. Our State offices moved last year (right during our paperchase I believe) and yet there wasn’t but a day or two that they didn’t get much done. They also moved in groups so to limit the impact on workflow. I’d be suprised if this move involved everyone at the same time…that wouldn’t take three weeks would it? it would if it was done by department or incrementally with groups of people (say a few people from each department at a time).
I really don’t see the CCAA move taking up to 3 weeks to mean they’re going to be down completely all at once. Maybe I am just trying to look at this with a more positive “rosey” viewpoint, but my gut feeling keeps telling me that it’s not as bad as it seems.
as Kivana says…”smile and breathe” :) I sure as hell am trying. ;)
July 14th, 2006 at 12:10 am
tgred - sorry, I should put more specifically, the move would take 1-3 weeks, they didn’t say that things were shutting down. They did say that they expect to see little activity over the next 2-3 weeks, so that doesn’t mean that they won’t be working. Probably just slower than usual. My guess would be that matching is the priority, and that maybe we won’t be seeing LID’s as fast as we have this past month, they have been coming at a record pace lately so maybe they were trying to hustle to get all of the ones they had logged in quickly, then will focus on the referrals. I agree 100% with you, we have had office moves before and it doesn’t take 3 days let alone 3 weeks. My bet is they will be disrupted, not closed!
July 14th, 2006 at 12:27 am
:) i wasn’t saying that to be mean you know. :) my apologies if it came across that way.
July 14th, 2006 at 1:16 am
tgred - wasn’t taken as mean at all! :) No need to apologize, I wasn’t clear in what I was saying, lets hope that its less disruptive than we are thinking it will be!
July 14th, 2006 at 1:26 am
thanks oscar1…and yeah I think the move won’t be too noticable to us at all.
I don’t know why I just have felt so calm about everything the past few days. I hope that’s a good thing. hehe
i guess (after thinking about it some more) the best thing to do comes from a line…or saying…from one of my favourite books (and the movie’s pretty good too i thought) which goes like this:
DON’T PANIC!
and yes, i know where my towel is.
July 14th, 2006 at 3:59 am
This is getting really cruel. It’s nobody’s fault but the up and down is officially Too Much for me now. With a July LID I think I need to step back for a while. All that cra* I believed about a “friend who has access to the CCAA” really had me going about there being a good amount of July being referred this month. Now we don’t even know if we’ll see ANY referrals this month. Closing for THREE weeks?? Why is it only the bad rumours come true?
Apologies for the downer…I need a break.
Thanks for the superb work you’re doing RQ. I don’t know how you keep going.

Last year my company moved. It is a very big company with warehouse and the whole package. We packed our things and went home, during the night the movers and coumputer guys moved the whole thing and the next day we we are up and running from our new headquarters. ofcourse there were some disruptions but the work went on just a tiny bit slower while we unpacked our things and worked. Ofcourse China might do things diffrently but I keep looking at the fact that they have the server down during 15 and 16 which is weekend right??? right? I take that as a sign that they want this done with as little (smaller??) disruption as they can..
July 14th, 2006 at 7:07 am
Ok, after a sleepless night of tossing and turning (not to mention a few tears) I feel better after reading some of the posts. It makes more sense that they will be disrupted, but not closed. Hopefully they will continue working, just not at full capacity until the move is completed. ***sigh*** just when things look good……

Why am I so calm. Have I now entered the official zone of ’she’s totally flipped now’. Will it hit me later? Will I cry and scream ‘I can’t take anymore’ - only a few glasses of red wine this evening will tell. Sept 7th (or as you guys say 7 Sept) is our LID and we are still dreaming of having her home for Christmas or I’ll cope with being in China for Christmas. Off now to bake some fairy cakes and clean the sodding house yet again - gggrrrr this nesting instinct is hard work when I have no chick to nurture.

Tg: what a wonderful voice of reason…thanks for posting.
are you always that level headed????
–now I can go on with my weekend… knowing things may still be in motion with referrals this month (maybe I should stay off this site until Monday–and live in my happy place)
my best to you and your family

I have to agree with TGRed & Meinvill. One entire branch of our company moved last month, with virtually no down time. One Friday was spent packing up offices, etc., the movers moved the big stuff over the weekend, and on Monday they were unpacking and getting back to work. Our computer geek had computers up that day I believe. Granted it was over the weekend, but if they had done it during the week it still wouldn’t have taken a full work week. It took some time to get settled into new offices but the work was still being done.
I don’t know how many people actually work for CCAA, but I just can’t believe they would be completely down for 3 weeks. I can see moving in groups, over the course of 3 weeks. But things should still be getting done.
I hope.

thanks usafinks! you’re next and i envy you that. wishes to you and yours as well on the upcoming next step of your journey. :)
-and while I do try to be ‘levelheaded’, i have my moments…hehe. But as i mentioned, there’s something that just is alittle different and i feel calm(er) about things.
