Moving now?

As reported in the comments here:

My agency did verify that in fact the CCAA is presently moving. They had been gradually shifting over to new office but right now the are doing the big part of the move, This could delay referrals a bit and possibly when they do come out they may not have accplished as many as we all hope.

I didn’t think that the CCAA site being down would point to them moving right now, because my geek friends tell me that internet servers aren’t typically placed at the physical location of a company, but are in big buildings of server farms. Perhaps the internet is set up differently in China?

This is not the first time we have heard eyewitness accounts that they are in the process of moving though, so I await more confirmation.

Update: Second confirmation – a different agency reports that late last week boxes were finally being packed.

Since the CCAA is a governmental agency would it be possible that they have to keep their servers in-house? I know when I worked for a contractor with the State of KY we were required to have the servers on site. Just a thought.

  2. j Says:

We keep our server in house. A recent office move put our website down too. I can’t believe I didn’t think of that!
My hopes, as small as they were, of a month’s worth of referrals are fading fast. I’m holding out for a half month.

  3. latejuneLID Says:

AHHHHH!!!! This is too much! Now I have to worry about my dossier getting lost in a move?!

I work for a government agency, we also keep our server on site. Wasn’t there a rumor at some point that the move was going to make it possible for the CCAA to add staff? And that this was their intention? If so, maybe this move will be a real boon to us all even if it does mean a temporary slowdown in referrals while the new office gets set up.

Sure hope that rumor I seem to recall has some basis in fact and isn’t simply wishful thinking.

  5. Liz Says:

Yep, our server is in house to. So maybe this really is the move??

  6. RumorQueen Says:

Second confirmation – an agency reports that late last week boxes were finally being packed with things.

  7. GuanYin Says:

We have been waiting for 12.5 months, all this time hearing about “the move”… and now… I cannot take it… I was counting on a end-of-the-month referral and, after all this time, waiting for two more weeks didn’t sound so bad… now… this is just too much…

  8. Elizabeth Says:

Didn’t they just move before Christmas ?

  9. RumorQueen Says:

No Elizabeth, the rumors about the move started a few months before Christmas. We verified sometime in November that they would be moving, but it would be a while.

I think it was in January that we verified what part of town they’d be moving to, and that they expected to move in (I think) April, as long as the phones and networking could be installed in time.

We’ve had a couple of false alarms, but now we have two agencies reporting that they are indeed moving this week.

I’m still not 100% convinced – we’ve had too many false alarms – LOL.

  10. metonda Says:

Again, why would something like this be so top secret?

They have either moved or they haven’t. What would the harm be in letting people know this information?

I’m definitely having a glass (or two) of vino tonight.

  11. j Says:

Hey, didn’t we discover (at least I did, maybe the rest of you already knew!) that they don’t start matching until 2 weeks before they send out referrals? If they held out until the end of the month before mailing – say, Monday 31st – they can still get a decent amount of time in for matching. And we know they work seven day weeks when they need to.

  12. meg Says:

    the “move” rumor again……ugh!!!

  13. NoGuanxi Says:

Hey, does anyone else have this recurring nightmare when the “big move” rumors start?

I see a Chinese man pushing a hand cart, stacked with boxes of dossiers. He is rushing through a crowded street. He hits a bump, boxes fall, dossies spill out, he picks up what he thinks are all the files and continues on to the new CCAA office. He completely missed that one dossier that was being trampled on by the crowd of people.

I’m glad to see that I’m not the only one that is still concerned about the “move”, though I may be the most visual!!

  14. gnanna Says:

IF they are moving, I would have hoped that they would have sent out those referrals first…one less thing to move. I don’t think I can wait any longer for news about the referrals! I am still holding on on the I171H and I am losing hope quickly!
    Come on referrals!

  15. gnanna Says:

    …on redoing the I 171H (oops!)

  17. RumorQueen Says:

When we are logged in apparently we are entered into the computer and some of our info is scanned in.

If a box of dossiers was misplaced, they would know that some were missing and would look for them.

Or that’s what I keep telling myself, anyway.

  18. Paperwork Pregnant Says:

Noooooooooooooooo! It was bad enough to have missed the last cutoff by one stinking day but now this? I’m with the other later Juners…. this can’t be! If I were to hear that there might be a delay because they were trying to get more LIDs referred… I would be sooooo cool with that!! Really I would! But the move? On MY watch? This is soooo my luck!!! UGH!

  19. NOvary Says:

You’ve got to be kidding me.

I’m sorry, but I’m at about the end of my rope here. First my dossier gets sent to China and not logged in for over a month. Then I wait 12.5 months, longer than anyone in years, and NOW they are moving? And now people are saying referrals could be delayed, or even misplaced? This is totally not cool. Why do they have to move when the wait is at its longest? Why not move in the beginning of the month, right after referrals are sent out? Why do I feel like I’ve been screwed at every step of this process?

Close to 2 weeks ago we were told that our TA, along with seven others, was in the “print room”…that we’d been approved for a SN child; however, our agency has not rec’d those TAs.

Is it likely that the “Move” affected these TAs being put in an envelope and mailed?

  21. WGoodwin Says:

Our Company is req’d to keep our Server in-house.

If we relocate, our Server goes down.

NOvary, I’m with you. I’m about to lose it here.

  24. Katri Says:

NOvary – don’t lose your focus now. Don’t listen to all those with speculations and guesses. Right now you are in the best spot of the bunch. You’re where you’re supposed to be. Enjoy (I know it’s hard, but breath deep!) the next few weeks before your referral. Time alone will tell the truth and all the rumors will be a distant tangled path. Your baby is on her way. You’re almost there. We’re all here to encourage one another, not to hyperventilate and get all worked up over things that may or may not be true at all.

  25. Meinvill Says:

At my company we also have the Server in-house and I think almost every comany here does likewise

  26. looneytunes32 Says:

    Our server is also in-house.
