Hey RQ,
Still expecting my TA to arrive (SN) Tues or Wed and *think* my agency is expecting the June NSN’s group this week too. They don’t tell me info about that since *it* is not about me directly…

now what I want to know is if that cut off date of the 13th is confirmed. Anything past it? I sure wish the CCAA would update their websight.
July 31st, 2006 at 1:37 pm
Any reason why the CCAA website date didn’t update to reflect the referrals? If it doesn’t update until August does that mean no more referrals until September?
Sorry to be stupid but I guess I am confused-
Thanks

The Stork has landed at our big CO agency. dossiers that were registered July 8th and July 13th, 2005. 44 lucky families!

Congratulations to those receiving their referrals. Yay! I’m very happy for you.

Mattnglo, our friends just returned from China last month and were unable to blog from China. China blocks all blogs she was saying. Just wanted to give you a heads up. She was extremely disappointed as was her family. We had someone set up a webpage for us and she will update it while we are in China. If you would like that info let us know.
July 31st, 2006 at 1:55 pm
Someone in my local FCC group posted yesterday that they received their travel approval. They are leaving August 7th - a few days early to head to Bejiing first.
July 31st, 2006 at 1:59 pm
Guangximom - do you know if the family was NSN or SN? Today is the 5th week since referral and we’ve not heard a peep from our agency regarding TAs. At the end of my rope here …
RE: blogging - I have heard some sites have problems, but I know I’ve read recent travel blogs from China. There are some that specialize in China adoption (Journey to Me is one I think) so I would check that out before assuming it can’t be done.
July 31st, 2006 at 2:02 pm
i have followed others’ so i guess i will see how they did it. is creating a web page different than a blog?
July 31st, 2006 at 2:05 pm
Not all blogs are blocked. All of the major blog services are blocked.
If you set your own blog up on your own server, odds are you’ll be okay.
If you use a very small blog service, you’ll also probably be okay. Probably.
July 31st, 2006 at 2:05 pm
NEmomma,
NSN. Apparently they got a phone call telling them on Friday night - so I imagine the TAs should be arriving at the agencies any moment now! As I said, they leave a week from today and are just a few days ahead of their group - start packing!
July 31st, 2006 at 2:06 pm
This is NOT the first time referrals have arrived before the CCAA got around to updating their site.

airforcefamily-
I know if you use blogger you can EMAIL your posts to the blog, but no pictures and can’t view the blog itself (although you could email the pictures to someone to post for you).
I know several residents of China using an Opera blog.
A friend who returned last month used babyjellybeans.com with no problems at all (they brought their own laptop).
Those are just a few that I know about.

Blogger is blocked in China, but you can update your site you just won’t be able to see it. Typepad isn’t blocked and as a matter of fact I several people from Beijing read my blog (which FREAKED ME OUT before I knew who they were). In some areas internet connections are sketchy at best so really it depends on you’re going to be at.
The Story of You and other sites are set up differently. You send the text and pictures to a “moderator” and they update the site for you. The only down side is some have a limit on how much you can write so I’d check that out before hand.
Yes I do have a little too much information about this, I’ve been waiting for TA since the earth was filled with volcanoes and primordial ooz so I’ve had some “down time” to research.

Just relaying info from our friend to prevent anymore heartache. We went through http://www.thestoryofyou.net. Tina set up the site for us and all we have to do is email her from China. This can include text and pictures (up to 5). She does the posting for it daily. You can choose to have your link password protected or open to the public. This is a great resource site for information on what to expect while you are there. You also can email these families and most of them are happy to assist. Good luck

RQ,
I have to say you must be one great Momma! I have read so many times here where you’ve posted that there have been a number of times that folks have their referrals before the CCAA website is updated…. And yet, everytime you post it is never with an attitude or an I’ve already said this 4 million times…. Thanks for being so patient with everyone!!!!
Now let’s hear about all those referrals - referral day is the best!!!!

I’m pretty sure with blogger that Hello still works for uploading pictures. So, even if you can’t view your own blog, you can still upload photos and copy to your site.
July 31st, 2006 at 2:30 pm
i wonder why the ccaa hasn’t updated their site? HA, gotcha rq. just a joke, had to do it, after reading your post, lookingforbaby.
congratulations, referral families. go celebrate and post your pictures please.

This is my first time on the site. I love it. Congrats to all. We’re LID 7/25. How long is it for TA? Our agency says 10 weeks from referral date. Our I171H expires Dec 13. We may need to update.
July 31st, 2006 at 3:18 pm
jfkof3- we have a LID of 8/8 also. Where are you located and how are you doing with your I171H?
July 31st, 2006 at 3:24 pm
airforcefamily, our I171H expires December 10. i think we will be ok if we receive our referral in august or even september but of course, i am not giving up hope just yet for an august referral. i can still hope and i have a bet on it, too. right, tg !! best wishes, airforcefam.

It’s good to hear that not all agencies are requesting an update for I171H. I think we’ll wait until the next set of referrals to update. Why devote the time and $ if not needed.
July 31st, 2006 at 3:40 pm
so, all of you with referral today…how you gonna celebrate?

Re: Blogging in China- I was in China in March/April for work, & had no difficulties updating my blog (blogspot) from Hong Kong, Guangzhou, or Fuzhou. I was in Dalian far in the north of China & could view it there, although since I was only there a day I did not actually update it there. I stayed in business hotels/of the same caliber that adoptive families stay in… I have heard other people say they have had trouble, but having just been there 4 months ago…I had no problem at all. One thing that might be different (although I cannot imagine why)- is that I did have my laptop with me & used my laptop in the room. Does anyone know if those who had trouble updating were using the business center hotel computer or their own laptops?

jfkof3-
Ours expires Nov 23. Praying for a referral next month as well. If not, we’ll have to resubmit, although my husband wrote our Congressman and Senators earlier to see if they can help with an extension. Crossing our fingers.
July 31st, 2006 at 4:09 pm
airforcefamily, i will keep my fingers, toes and eyes crossed for you along with tg, smalltowngirl and waitingforallie, Laureen and the other waiting families. so many of us sent emails and letters to our congress/senators, it only takes a few minutes, the effort is worth it, at least we are trying. stay positive, blessings. lid-8-8

The stork has landed at our small Bay Area (hint) agency. Our LID was 7/11/05. I just picked up our referral in a sealed envelope at 1pm after receiving the call this morning at 10am. My wife is at home sitting on pins and needles waiting for me to come home from work this evening so we can open the envelope together in front of a video camera. Our coordinator is actually in China right now so we don’t have a translation of the referral, but should be getting it via e-mail shortly. I have several Chinese speaking employees so I can get some help from them if necessary. Based on our final orientation, our coordinator expects us to be in Chongqing on 9/17 and have an appointment with the US Consulate on 9/25. This assumes she can get this date once she sends the signed referrals back and if TAs arrive in 3 weeks. The Consulate schedules appointments only Monday thru Thursday.
