Interesting! I am assuming this is very good news, no??? I know no one know what’s happening, but this is a good sign no? Does this matches projected times or not RQ?
August 30th, 2006 at 3:20 pm
Interesting, yet no update that November is out of review. Could it be that they are holding all reviewed dossiers to “weed” some out when the new regulations are issued? If there are going to be new regs, that is. Medical histories in one pile, no college for both spouses in another, singles in another, etc…?
August 30th, 2006 at 3:23 pm
Not really good or bad news.
We usually see at least two months at a time being worked on in the review room. It is assumed most reviewers are working on December and January while there is a straggler who got slammed with a ton of November files to review who is finishing up the last of their November files.
August 30th, 2006 at 3:32 pm
for the sake of all the November LIDders…here’s hoping the CCAA updates in the next few days and show they’re totally done with Nov.
I’m sure the big huge sigh of relief we’ll here will be them. :)
August 30th, 2006 at 3:32 pm
ooops. *hear*
geez i’ve got to get that internal spell check thing fixed. lol
August 30th, 2006 at 3:33 pm
come on J- lemme have it. LOL ;) the suspense is killing me. hehe
August 30th, 2006 at 3:44 pm
RQ — Has it ever happened that the website update for the Review Room shows that they have completed 2 months ahead instead of only one? For example, instead of updating and saying they have completed through November 30, 2006, could they update when they are through December 31, 2006. I’m doubting we would ever be so lucky, but I’m just hoping. . .
TG — you seem to be having some English issues lately. Would you like to come to my ESL class? Just joking! I’m a kidder!
Come on CCAA! Review like the wind!

August 30th, 2006 at 3:53 pm
And a bit more on topic…I have slightly different theory than RQ on why it sometimes takes so long for a month to get out of review. If there is one file that they needed more information (eg. more medical info) and it takes a while to get this information and then it still isnt quite right and they need to do it again…when you throw in all the translation and mailing times, etc…next thing you know the whole month is delayed by a month or more.
Just my theory and am prepared to be corrected if someone has better info.
August 30th, 2006 at 3:54 pm
TG, the typo is neither hear nor there, I think your statement that you’d hear a collective sigh of relief from us Nov. folk is write… er, I mean accurate. :o)
August 30th, 2006 at 3:56 pm
SuzyQ, I hear ya (LID 11/30 myself). After all this time just hoping it’s not the re-review room. ACK, who said that???
August 30th, 2006 at 3:58 pm
Aaahhhhh tg, tg, tg…my work here is done…

No No No! I do not want to be re-reviewed.
Bravely running away from the computer now!

August 30th, 2006 at 3:59 pm
sooo feeling the love. thanks all…LOL
I did ask for that didn’t I ?! DOH! :)
actually gretchen, you are right, however, where my brain and proper spelling disagreed was where I said “I’m sure the big huge sigh of relief we’ll here (
August 30th, 2006 at 4:02 pm
Clementine, I’m not positive, but I think you are asking if it’s possible they’ll go straight to December and just skip showing November reviewed? I’m pretty sure they won’t do that. (now watch it happen - LOL)
For the record, there is a chart at this link that shows when the CCAA site has been updated:

August 30th, 2006 at 4:03 pm
Did I forget to mention I totally skipped out on grades K-8 when I was a child? lol
August 30th, 2006 at 4:03 pm
Sorry, SuzyQ, chalking that “re-review” comment up to TOO MUCH CAFFEINE and giving myself a good whack upside the head for even suggesting that could be possible. ‘kay, gotta go meditate or make a few affirmations or something. :o)
August 30th, 2006 at 4:06 pm
I’m away for a bit and come back and no one can spell anymore. I sure hope the CCAA updates their Review Room before our Labor Pain holiday, wouldn’t that be sweet.

I’m sick of prognoses, I’m sick of maybe’s, I’m sick of……myself, because I’ll check this site more than 20 times a day.
Hello, I’m new and just find out about RQ (thank for everything). I’m from Holland. Our LID is 12-05-06 so we have to wait…… I’ll like to read the rumors about the CCAA. It helpes to make the waiting a bit easily . Everyone good luck and a lot of patience.
August 30th, 2006 at 4:20 pm
dutchdeb
welcome to the club! Yep I check RQ a heck of a lot more than I like to admit. I’m a late Nov. LID, so we are running along the same timeline, only I found this site about 8 months ago. RQ has kept me sane when no one else can. I am a RQ fan!

What will we do without your humor after you get your referral next month? (yes, I am stubbornly holding out hope for you that you will not wait until October). :-)
August 30th, 2006 at 4:25 pm
Thanks, SuzyQ, I think I needed an “intervention” re the caffeine.;o)
August 30th, 2006 at 4:25 pm
New rumor: the dutchies are taking over :) Hi Deb, just saw the pictures on your blog and that is one cute kid! ‘ een schatje’ as we say.
I got my DTC today. YES TODAY. I’m ‘in da club’. Our DTC is august 30 2006. How wonderfull is that, after 4 years and a few weeks (who’s counting?…. oh yes, ME!!!). Totally OT, but I wanted to share my happy day with my rq-supportgroup.

August 30th, 2006 at 4:39 pm
and congrats lies1976!
and definitely laughing over that one too jfkof3. ;) that was classic.
waitingforHelena…thanks for keeping the fingers crossed for us. I’ve had to give up on crossing anything because it’s too hard to walk or type…not to mention see. ;)
August 30th, 2006 at 4:45 pm
A specific rumor involving my LID year! Who’da thunk something like that would make me happy this far into the ride. Congrats lies1976!

xie xie ni, tg. well, you have to walk so i’ll cross everything for the both of us along with smalltowngirl, waiingforallie and the other early aug group.
RQ, your sense of humor has been shining, too. you rock!!
August 30th, 2006 at 4:56 pm
Lies1976-
WooHoo!!! Welcome to the RQ Crew!
August 30th, 2006 at 5:06 pm
lies1976 - huge congratulations. We’re in the UK and it took us 21 months to get to DTC. You make us look like amateurs! We’re now at a nearly-14-month wait but I have to tell you…however long the wait post-DTC…it’s SOOO much better than the bit before. Enjoy. Send LOTS of emails with your DTC date at the bottom!
August 30th, 2006 at 5:14 pm
I never realized that it took so long to be DTC in other countries! I feel so badly for you that it takes that long. We are in the US and went to our first agency meeting the end of July 2005 and were DTC 11/23/05! What takes to long?
August 30th, 2006 at 5:23 pm
Could this really be??? I haven’t had the nervous little butterfly feeling since being DTC. I’m glad they’re reviewing instead of implementing new regs. and tossing out dossiers left & right (including mine… thanks to DH’s partying college days eons ago.)
LID: JANUARY
August 30th, 2006 at 5:36 pm
amygum: We live in California, applied in early August, did all the paperwork literally ASAP, but weren’t DTC until the first week of March. Still much quicker than other countries, but slower than other states. Some of this is probably due to the state agency we’re working with for the homestudy.
August 30th, 2006 at 5:41 pm
I have been reading RQ for about 5 days now and I’m hooked. I wish I’d known you when I did my first adoption. I’m in the middle of collecting my papers for dossier number 2 to China. Looking for a little sis. The waiting can make you crazy.
Thanks RQ!
August 30th, 2006 at 5:43 pm
I guess we were lucky then because we are in NY with a small agency that only does China and they moved quickly. I guess I should thank them for that! :) We started our homestudy 5 weeks after we gave them the first check and it was done and written within 4 weeks. It is interesting to me that it can be so different for all of us depending on what agency we use and where we live even in the US.
August 30th, 2006 at 5:43 pm
January in the Review Room? Oh, please let this be so, and pleasepleaseplease let them hurry through Jan and get to us February folks, before any “new guidelines” are finalized. I am sick with fear that we might be “scraped off” for more than one new reason. We have waited for so many years to be parents, and in December I turn 49…
August 30th, 2006 at 5:47 pm
I heard that if I put my paperwork before December I can avoid a 2 year wait. A friend of mine just got back with her daughter and told me that she heard on the trip that it would become a 2 year wait after December. Has anyone also heard this? If it’s true this doesn’t discourage me because I’ll wait no matter what. It’s out of my hands.
August 30th, 2006 at 5:53 pm
Yeah, each state seems to have it’s own set of hoops to jump through, too. It didn’t help that my fingerprints “didn’t get lost, but couldn’t be found” for months before they could release our homestudy. We were told the dept. of homeland security doesn’t lose fingerprints, but they just couldn’t locate mine (even with the tracking number)!?! Hmmm… when our agency finally got on the ball with the delay & had me redo the prints, the clearance came 3 days later. Ugh. Anyway, sounds like your experience was a quick & positive one!
August 30th, 2006 at 6:04 pm
lilyluv-
I haven’t heard or read anything about there becoming a two year wait after the end of this year. RQ may have something, but this is the first I’ve heard of it. I know there’s been rumours of the wait building up to around 18months…possibly..
August 30th, 2006 at 6:11 pm
If they continue to take three months to get through a month then getting in one month earlier could mean you’d get your referral three months earlier.
If they continue to take three months to get through a month then those with a December 2006 LID will wait a whole lot longer than two years.
—————-
Some agencies say they will continue to take three months getting through each month.
Some agencies say they expect the wait to stabilize at some point.
I don’t know which is right.
August 30th, 2006 at 6:27 pm
lilyluv-I’m wondering if she was referring to Dec 05 LIDs, if they take 3-4 months to get through each month, it could be about a 2 yr wait for us. If they go back to 2 wks at a time it should “only” be about 18 mo
August 30th, 2006 at 6:39 pm
with a Jan 6 LID this makes me a very happy gal today! : )
August 30th, 2006 at 6:41 pm
Pam- I wasn’t going to start my process until sometime in Dec., but after hearing this from my friend I got nervous and we started our paperwork for dossier 3 weeks ago. I hope to be done by end of Sept. first of Oct. I can’t go any faster even if it’s my second time around. Just incase this is true I’m getting it in before Dec. however it works out. I pray INS can be quick too!
August 30th, 2006 at 7:00 pm
lilyluv-whatever your friend meant, I think you are right to hurry, you’ve nothing to lose and as someone (RQ I think) already pointed out one month sooner LID may mean a 3 month sooner referral
August 30th, 2006 at 7:38 pm
Congrats Lies1976 on your DTC today. That’s very
exciting. With a 11/18/05 LID, I would love to be
out of review, I feel like we all have been in there
for a eternity. This would be the best 40th b-day
present I could ask for. RQ I had a silly question
for you? After review does our dossier go the matching
room? I wasn’t sure where it goes next? Thanks for
being here for all of us 24/7, We could not do it
without you!!!!! Ladybug in Nebraska

Cheer up lowly renters. My big agency feels very confident mortgages will not be mandatory in the new adoption requirements. But new requirements are coming by January. On another note, California home studies are only good for six months. I will be finger printed more than a felon by the time this is over. LID 12/13/2005
August 30th, 2006 at 9:02 pm
You know Windthrow, that makes perfect sense about the review room. If there is even one family still needing information clarified, they may just wait on the whole batch of people, before updating site “finished review of”.
August 30th, 2006 at 10:04 pm
Thanks for the info. babyincite. Being a renter from California it’s pretty pertinent to me. I had no idea that home studies were only good for 6 months. Yikes. I’ll be getting re fingerprinted a lot as well. Did your agency seem to think the regulations were going to apply to just new dossiers; or to old and new alike?
August 30th, 2006 at 10:13 pm
In the new rules do both parents have to be college
educated? What if one is?
August 30th, 2006 at 10:38 pm
Congrat’s to lies1976 !! We have a LID of 8/30/05 — I’m just sitting here w/ a heavy heart thinking @ this time last year, I never thought I’d still be here waiting for a referral!! Here’s hoping that things go much fasterfor you !!! Happy anniversary for LID’ers on 8/30/05!!
August 30th, 2006 at 10:45 pm
To teachermom;
The agency representative indicated the new rules “might effect those whose dossiers are in China after January 1st.” The rep. said they would announce the changes as soon as they are certain what they are. News that homestudies must be within six months came as news to me today, and I am really contemplating what options we have to avoid undergoing an update (and costs) three times instead of just twice. Any ideas?
August 31st, 2006 at 12:01 am
Oh how I wished they’d just update their web site. They can’t be far off posting that Nov LID’s are out of review. This is good news to hear that someone from Jan is being reviewed…not so good if they have to produce more info.
RQ, if Jan & Feb are small groups going by stats then they should be able to move through these a bit faster than they have Oct/Nov in Review.? Tell me this is so…hurry up March.
August 31st, 2006 at 1:00 am
Lost in despair, just to let you know your age is locked in at the time of your LID. Also, babyincite, I live in California too, and my home study is good for a year, so I’m confused that yours is good for only six mos. Also, I spoke to my agency director and she thought if and when new changes are implemented they wouldn’t apply for us who are already logged in. .
August 31st, 2006 at 2:05 am
I hope the CCAA update their web soon to notify us all that they have accomplished Oct/Nov files completely. This then means that the next 2 months of Dec/Jan being smaller should be through review a lot quicker…. well I hope. What great news to hear that someone is being reviewed from January. It gives me hope with the first day of spring tomorrow it can only get better.

Sorry for the numerous posts…cyber space travel seems to be not too crash hot from here today. Matches me at present.LOL
August 31st, 2006 at 8:04 am
I had a VERY good sleep with very GOOD dreams. Thank you guys all for the congrats! Dh doesn’t quite understand why I’m stuck to the computer at least an hour a day, but after hearing about the nice response on our good news, I think he finally got it. It’s the support, the support we all need. No one really understands the stress, the frustration and the absolute joy with every little step you take, like other waiting parents.
Amygum, you asked why the IA-program in The Netherlands takes a long time. Part of our delay was because of my age, I just turned 30, 2 months ago. Just like y’all in the US we have to have homestudy and de the whole paperchase. But before all that everyone who wants to adopt has to take a course. An adoptioncourse. It is every other week and takes up 6 afternoons (or mornings). And for that course there is a waitinglist. We had to wait 18 months to start ours. Every IA-parent in the Netherlands waits at least 2.5 years for their child to come home. I repeat: at least! I think the average is about 3.5 years.
August 31st, 2006 at 8:16 am
Lies1976,
WAHOOOOOO!!!!! So happy you are FINALLY DTC.
And welcome to Dutchdeb.
There may be something to the “Labor Day” comment. I pulled a muscle in my back yesterday (ouch) and both of my labors with my sons started with back pain ! I think it’s a good omen :) Must mean our referrals are getting close.
Here’s hoping the reviews are out soon too.
M
ps. TG you are great!
August 31st, 2006 at 8:49 am
Californians, my SW informed me this week that the rules have changed and that homestudies must now have been completed with six months. Reliable SW and we talked at length about it so I am not mistaken about what he said, but I am checking with the state to be sure. Ciao.
