The CCAA is touring again and one of the countries they’ve visited has reported a few things they learned. I’m going from machine translations, but from what I can tell they are saying:
- The wait should stay in the 14 month range or maybe go just a little higher. Then they say this is not an absolute.
- The CCAA is going to be a whole lot pickier about health issues.
- Singles may be restricted to 8% but might not be completely eliminated.

Hmmm, singles are 8% now aren’t they?
September 15th, 2006 at 8:03 am
Yes, singles are 8%. Given recent rumors, this part of the rumor is really good news.
September 15th, 2006 at 8:37 am
Woo Hoo!!!!!!
I am almost in tears that there may actually be a possibility for me to bring home #2 (if I ever bring home #1.)
Laureen
Single and happy with this rumor.
September 15th, 2006 at 8:51 am
Maybe they mean they are going to hold singles to 8% INCLUDING SN/Waiting Child.
September 15th, 2006 at 8:52 am
Can CCAA really pick it up enough to stay at a 14 month wait?? I guess the referrals in the next two months will tell the tale! Let’s hope for the best! 14 months would be so great!!
September 15th, 2006 at 8:54 am
Interesting, I really think it means that singles will be 8 % including SN, because the CCA have told to agencies not to try to sneak in singles that way. Still good news if that turns out to be true.
September 15th, 2006 at 9:04 am
Well….14 months would be bliss after all the recent predictions of endless waits. I’m hoping like crazy this is true but CCAA would really have to pick up the referral pace and immediately wouldn’t they?? I mean we’re already teetering on 14 months right now…..All appendages double-crossed for this one!!

Me too seachange. Hard typing with fingers creojlklkaea/
So if my LID is sometime this month. THen I am looking at early 2008, instead of in the middle of the Olympics and the rumored shut down then. Oh please let this be a true.
It sounds like CCAA isn’t even sure tho.

WHOAAAAA!!! I hope the single rumor is true! 8%, we can live with that, can’t we? I mean, we did for a long time already :-)!
September 15th, 2006 at 10:28 am
What kind of health issues would the CCAA deny adoption too, both my husband and i are quite a bit over weight, should i be worried or are these regulations for those parents that aren’t logged in yet? Our LID is Aug 3 2006
Thanks for any help given
September 15th, 2006 at 11:19 am
Our LID is 8/18/05 so unless we get a referral this month, the 14+ month wait is already here.
September 15th, 2006 at 11:28 am
Goldi,
In the past, new regulations have applied to future logins. They can do what they want, but this shows a certain amount of fairness I think.
LID 10/26
Just bought tix to go out of town for Christmas, so at 14 months, we will be away for the referral!
September 15th, 2006 at 4:30 pm
OK so, does this mean that if the CCAA is touring that referrals are going to be late getting sent????????? Please, somebody say “no!” July 25 LID
September 15th, 2006 at 5:13 pm
Well, that’s pretty promising! I love good rumors. :-)

I’ll be SOOO HAPPY if the CCAA keeps the singles quota at 8% (instead of doing away with us completely!!!)- even if that means SN/Waiting Children are included in that 8%!!! It’s important to me that my TWO children both share the same birth country. LID 2-24-06 for daughter #1…and anxiously hoping the “closing to singles” rumor turns out to NOT be true!!!
September 15th, 2006 at 7:05 pm
I’m usually a faithful lurker… but had to register and login in for this one…. woohooo.. A great rumor to be basking in while waiting to be DTC for #1

goldiloxs, over in the forum is a thread about the rumoured new restrictions including what’s suggested so far about weight. Go to site navigation top of this page and click on forum if you haven’t been there yet. You will need to login if that thread is in the private section [I think it is].
September 15th, 2006 at 7:30 pm
goldiloxs, oops, just double checked - it’s in the public forum under the Rumors section - “stricter guidelines again” thread.

What exactly does “touring” mean? Visiting countries that are already part of the IA program? Schmoozing with adoption agency officials and politicians? Does the host country invite them or does CCAA say “We’re coming, do you want to see us?” I know they were in…Colorado?…recently and had meetings with agency reps.
I’m just trying to visualize “CCAA Tour 2006.”
September 16th, 2006 at 8:53 am
I spoke with an agency this past week. I was told that “weight/obesity” would be an issue for future couples adopting.
September 16th, 2006 at 5:46 pm
Seachange, thanks for the tip, i checked out the forum and i have to say i’m a little relieved that it looks as though the weight issue could be a problem, but not for us parents that are already logged in, let’s hope that it’s true…..
September 17th, 2006 at 9:15 am
Great news about singles I was hoping to adopt a second child.
September 17th, 2006 at 9:47 pm
I wish there was more certainty about this whole process. We are considering moving to the SN program, in an effort to reduce the age gap between our daughter and our next child. (she’s 3 1/2 and we’re LID 11/30/05?
