As I rejoice for all of you who just found out your referrals have arrived I am having a hard time fighting off the tears of realizing that the CCAA only did about 2.5 weeks in this batch. As a Decemberonian this wait continues to look longer and longer all the time.

Without looking at the numbers again, my first instinct is that they make it to 8/23 next month. Don’t quote me on that one yet, I’ll do a full analysis in the next day or two (tomorrow is going to be a crazy day so it could very well be Tuesday before I can do it).

Apart from that, I’m totally bummed about the cutoff date. I’m starting to wonder if we’ll ever see a speed up, or if every month will continue to be this dismal. I mean, if early August was really so light, then this is just another pathetic month of referrals. Just lost hope of seeing our daughter’s face this year, and there goes our I171H for sure. LID 9/29

For me, I’m feeling a little bummed, as I really hoped this would be the month to refer a whole months worth of dates. My LID isn’t until 5/06, and at this rate it really does feel like forever until we will even get close.

Do we expect that referrals will come tomorrow? How many days does it typically take to get from China to the U.S.? I can hardly believe it. I was originall July 18 but they changed me last month and bumped me to the 26th. I am so excited but worry that they will skip me again. I will breathe a sigh of relief if they come tomorrow and I am included!

TG - I’m feeling for you & your wife tonight. I really hope this next month passes fast for you.
My feelings on the timing is that they will get through most of August for next months’ referrals, and two months to get through Sept, then perhaps a bit of a slow down for the bigger months of oct & nov (though perhaps they will keep two weeks at a time of referrals coming steady - that would be good, or better than slower at least).

Congrats to all the early Auggies! I have to admit I am pretty sad they didn’t get farther. Was really hoping us late Auggies might get referrals next month but with the HUGE 24th LID, it looks like it will be November and so this news is bittersweet to me.
TG (and wife)- My heart is heavy for you two. We have the same agency and I remember your posts a while back when you were pretty much told that September would be your month. I am so sorry.

We are hoping to hear what our LID is tommorrow. I know we have a long road ahead. When we began this journey, I did NOT realize that this “pregnancy” would affect me the same exact way as my others. I am so excited and impatient. I pray for her, I daydream about her, I write her name over and over, I feel like I am truly carrying her with me each day….and while I read all of your comments I get choked up because of how long you have waited for this. You must be walking on air!!! I can’t ever recall feeling this excited about someone having a baby! A very heartfelt congratulations to you all….

My prayers for a faster process continue for those who still wait. Tomorrow is 14 months since LID + 5 our months of paper chase for a big 19 months….when we got our LID we were told 6-8 months….what a ride it hase been! but, it ain’t over till our daughter is in our home…so, I hope to breathe easy by November 15th!

Rumour Queen : I’m really anxious to read your reaction to 18 days of LIDs … I’m REALLY happy for all those who made it, CONGRATS !!!
But, as I am just starting a 2nd dossier, I have to say that it’s very disappointing. To me, it looks like it will continue to go up (past 14 months). Why am I saying this ? Because we all know that beginning of Aug. was tiny … So even if they did 18 days, it’s not really 18 days … What do you all think ?

Wow…it is official. I couldn’t sleep at all and was up so early just to check the CCAA site and see if it was updated. I am just so excited and can’t wait for that call. I also can’t stop crying! But a good cry since it is finally happening.

My heart feels so heavyfor those not included, I think we all know how it feels to be so close to seeing our little girls but so far away. I will be saying a prayer for all of you today.

RayRDT - yeah, they did just barely more than the bad case scenario. This was not a catch up month, at all.

It will add a day or two to each month, but just from a quick look it would appear that this is probably still pretty accurate.
They are capable of doing a lot more matches per month, they’ve done it before, but apparently are not headed back in that direction just yet. I wonder what the agencies who are predicting a stabilization are smoking, because we sure are not seeing it.

Interesting that they did 15 days since the last cutoff if you count Saturdays and not Sundays. Wasn’t there a rumor about the CCAA doing 15 days?

I’m happy for all of you who get your referrals today…but, thats really not very many of us if I believe the polls.
Ugh. I couldn’t sleep last nite and had wierd dreams. Wish I had just checked the site first. I never thought the ccaa would have updated Before I went to bed. What a rotten morning. This really could be a three year wait.
My only hope in a speed up lies in the little fact of the April meeting. If that results in more paper ready babies it would begin to show up in October.( 6 months later).

What a Fabulous Morning!!! Congrats to all of you who made the cut and PULEEZE let us see the pictures. I am soooo thrilled to see 18 glorious days in this batch. I haven’t been with you guys for long but we started our paperchase August 05 and I have checked the CCAA website daily ever since they started posting these updates. Our LID is 01/24/06 so we’ve a long way to go but this is the first time in a long time I have felt so optimistic. 18 days!! I know we’re all hoping for a month at a time but 18 DAYS!! It seems like forever since we’ve had a batch that size. This news is only part of the reason I am so excited. It helps so much to have this site. You guys really have made a difference. Before this site I thought it was just me who was analyzing every move and trying to figure out how to interpret every tiny piece of vague commentary given by my agency. But the absolute best thing is seeing others getting their referrals and knowing soon they’ll be holding their little bundles!! It gives this waiting Mom so much hope!! Thanks to all of you who share so much–you are making a difference!!!

I awoke to wonderful news for many of you and heartbreak for those of us still waiting. I now need to concentrate on re-doing my 171 knowing that it is a long shot to get our referral before November. Our 171 expires 1/7/07.

RQ, First let me say thank-you for having this wonderful site that has helped my dh and I to get through this long wait to referral. We are blessed to be a part of the group to be included this time. 7/28/05. Can you tell me how long it usually takes to get TA’s once you get your referral if everyone get’s there information back to the agency ASAP? Also, our agency doesn’t travel during Oct so can you help and guesstamate when we might travel going by past history. We know that you are not “ALL Knowing” but, you sure have been real close with most of your predictions. Again thank you for being here for all of us.

Congratulations and Blessings to those who got their referrals! It is truly an exciting time, especially for those first time parents. When we got our first referral, I was so excited and completely relieved, I put my head down on my desk in my office and cried like a baby. Then I was terrified :0)! But at the end of our wait, my Caitriona came home to me and made my heart whole. There was a piece of me missing until then. And now, we wait for our second, we have a long road ahead, our log in is 3-28-06, but Caitriona keeps us busy! She wants to name her baby sister Cinderella! Not so sure about that …:0) So until it is my turn, I will smile and enjoy the excitement of the new Moms to be!

Okay, I am worried about being included in the next batch with our 8/24 LID, but… and here is me grasping at straws, if you look at the polls AND if my math is correct, then this time there were approx. 170 referrals… for those who responded to the poll and to include 8/24 next time there would be 157 referrals for responders. To include 8/25 would mean 181. Now, realistically, I am concerned that we won’t be included next month… but I don’t think it is completely outside the realm of possibility.
Trying to be optimistic and NOT a mathematician or a statistician..

Wow TG/Coartney and other 8-10/11/12ers. What does it feel like to know you are next? I can’t imagine. With an 8-24 LID, I don’t know what to think about next month. From what I can see from RQs poll numbers, my lid of 8-24 should be included if they do a similar amount to this month. Such a wild ride we are all on.

Anybody who might be interested we went to an art festival this weekend and a Chinese artist wrote our daughter’s name in Chinese for us. I put a scan of it up on my blog. I love the grace and curve of the brush strokes. I have spent a huge amount of time studying it. I am going to carry this with me. For me it is the next best thing until we see her face.

yeah, it’s a bit of a shock…but, I think once I start working on some planning and making some preliminary arrangements for some things, that part will have faded and the wife and I get to enjoy knowing we’re definitely next. I do think we’ll be there sometime in December…over Christmas? don’t know. I think it would be pretty cool actually. Definitely a Christmas we wouldn’t forget that’s for sure.

On a more selfish note, I am soooo bummed that they didn’t do more days this time. With a LID of 09/29/05 I seriously doubt I’ll get our referral this year. I’ll definately need to refile the I171H as it expires 2/14/07. This sux!!! I still can’t believe that fingerprints expire!! It’s not like the actual fingerprint itself changes to another shape. Ugh. I’m just so frustrated with the system.

Congrats to all who can expect referrals today or tomorrow, unfortuneately our referral, 8/30 LID, barring any miracles will most likely occur in November. But I was wondering RQ if you had stats for the last 6-9 months for both the number of days of LIDs per referral (this I think you have) and for the number of referrals per month. Doing a rough count in my head (which could be wrong) it seems like this month based on your survey it seems roughly 200 families (from this site) got referrals.
I ask all of these questions in hope that the increase in the number of days of referrals continues and also the number of referrals per batch is increasing as well. Because I am not quite ready to give up hope of an October referral, as unlikely as it is to happen.

Thank you Cristina for the comment….this is the DH Dan….Kimberly is still sleeping - she struggled getting down last night despite sharing a bottle of champange and taking a sleeping pill late into the night….too excited to sleep!
We greet this day with mixed emotions. We are not first time parents (we have 5 kids between 21 and 28 years old) so we know what to expect with raising a new member of the family…or members - we did ask for twins. The downside of today is the expected effects of ying and yang and the circle of life. Kim’s father is terminal with cancer and at home under hospice care. We just returned home last night after saying our goodbyes….it is sad watching the spirt of life ebbing away in someone you love so dearly. So we greet the day in anticipation of knowing our heavensent newest family member and perhaps send a parent off to finish his journey to heaven.
With news that the referrals were shipped and possibly arriving today we left California a couple days early - we did not want to deal with being 2 states removed from our agency when the DHL package arrived from the CCAA….Kim was also torn as she could not post while we were in California - she did not have her password with her!
To all - thank you for your prayers and comments….this is truely a huge step in completing a mission we started in February of 2005…..we will post photos as soon as we can..

Sort of OT> does anyone have any advice about our I-171h update? We have not sent $ for it yet….and I am wondering if we need to now. It is cutting it extremely close, but I am really not sure what to do. We are getting our referral this week (hallelujah!) and our I-171h expires on December 20th. Help? THat is about 12 weeks from today. Do you all think we will have traveled to and from China within that time period? I do not want to take any chances, as we were told by our agency that we need to be back in the US before the expiration. What do you all think? Perhaps this needs to be answered on a different thread, but I knew that you were reading this one! Thanks for any help….

Here is my selfish plug for everyone to pull for 8/24 to be in this next batch. Yes, I’m worried that we won’t be because CCAA would have to get even more babies’s paperwork next month to get all of us matched (we are just too big of a group). But they don’t need to get that many more available babies - so there is hope!!!
That said - based on my super fast review of polls - if the cutoff is 8/23 then the next cutoff is likely to be 8/30. That leave poor 8/31 having to wait until December. Is that fair? NO!!!! So if CCAA can step it up a notch then November should include the rest of August and into September (5th or 6th). Come on everyone! Wouldn’t it be great to have CCAA into September by November??? And with September reportedly so small - couldn’t they get the rest of September done by December (hey, maybe even into the beginning of October)???? Come on CCAA!!!!!!!

I have been lurking around here for months now and just never registered because while I am not technically waiting for a child…. I have been WAITING AND WAITING.. for a niece. I am an aunt to a beautiful little girl named Brianna who joined our family two years ago and my sister is LID July 27. I have been up most of the night so anxious I couldnt sleep. The reason I finally, at this late date decided to register was so I could share our story, after reading Smalltowngirl’s story about her dad. We have always felt that our dad was Brianna’s own special guardian angel. We got the referral on May 5, 2004. At this point, our dad was in a coma with Hospice assisting in his care. We found out that day that Brianna was almost a year old. Her birthday was May 11, 2004. Very early that morning (11th) Dad passed away. We were all very upset and disbelieving that it had to be on her birthday of all days. After going to the funeral home to make arrangements we went to the florist and got LOTS of balloons. We had a huge balloon release that afternoon for dad and Brianna. Brianna joined us in July of that same year. She has mentioned her grandpa at various times and recognized his picture from the first. Now, to jump to date…… We are going to get a referral for Emma today…. Dads birthday. Coincidence? The cut off date is Aug 9… mom and DADS anniversary. We are waiting to see her birthday. How weird would it be if it is a significant dad day? So, I guess what I am trying to say is, Smalltowngirl, this may seem like really bad timing but it is in fact a blessing. Your daugter will have her own guardian angel looking over her till you can go and bring her home.

I have been waiting 14 months as of today since LID, so I know where all of you are at this minute. I know what it feels like to be recently DTC and see the wait stretching out, I know how it feels to have an LID a couple months away and wishing hard for more days this month, and I know how it feels to be a few weeks away and not being certain that they got far enough that you can expect to be included in the next batch.
Sadly, after last month, I also know the deep depression of finding out on referral day that I missed the cutoff by three stinkin’ days. I also know the joy that comes in a week or so when you realize you’re going to be next.
I feel for all of you and send warm thoughts and encouragement no matter what stage of the process you’re in. Those of you with LIDs of Aug. 10 and a few days later, you have the warmest wishes of all. Your time is coming, and in a few days that will give you great joy!
What I’ve never experienced is the joy of getting that referral call — could it be today? I’m still somewhat disbelieving, but every time the phone rings I jump. I can’t believe I might actually hear about my daughter today! And I can’t wait for you all to experience this particular type of excitement — I’ve really appreciated being in your company as we watched and waited.

We were cut off by 3 days last year. We only had a 7 month wait-short now compaired to those having to wait now and in the past when it was longer. But it was hard to know we were almost there. I worried over whether our SW could have finished our HS faster, whether I could have mailed things faster. But then I realized that there was a reason for us to get referral the following month. If we had not, we would not have had our daughter and she is perfect for our family!

I have been a lurker on this site for months and months but since I am not a mom in waiting, I never registered till now. I felt compelled to share my family’s story with Smalltowngirl. I am Aunt to Brianna, a beautiful, warm, caring, adorable, brilliant,.. I could go on and on with the description, but I think you get the idea… My sister (the mom) was here with us when the referral came for Brianna. Our dad was dying of prostrate cancer and Hospice was so wonderful in that he was home with us at the last and not in a hospital. On May 5, 2004 the long wait for that elusive referral ended. Dad was in a coma at this point and not able to share in our joy. Her birthday was May 11, just 6 short days away and she would spend her first birthday away from us. That was a hard pill to swallow. We started talking about having a small birthday party for her regardless. Not long after midnight on the 11th, Dad passed away. All of us, me and my sisters and niece and mom were with him as he left us. Not what we wanted to happen on Brianna’s birthday. After visiting the funeral home that afternoon, we bought a whole big bunch of ballons and realeased half in dads memory and half to travel to China for Brianna. After Brianna came home to us in July of that year, she would recognize pictures of her grandpa. She would know who he was. Skip forward two years and a bit. Today is the day we get a referral for Emma, Brianna’s little sister. Another niece for me and a gift for the whole family. Today is our dads birthday. He is linked to these two little girls in a way that is hard to articulate. (the cutoff date this time is Aug 9, mom and DADS, anniversary). Of all the days to get a referral, this is the best one that could ever be. Happy birthday dad, and welcome to our family little Emma.
My whole point in this is for Smalltowngirl to hopefully someday see the blessing that this timing thing is. Your dads passing will be the most horrible thing ever, but you will have this little one to help you get thru the hurt, and knowing that your baby girl has her own guardian angel looking over her in China till you can go and bring her home, well that is priceless. Not sure if this is the place to put this, but thought others may be interested. We have an LID of Nov 17. Our big Nov group is taking a poll to see just how monsterous Nov is and how the LIDs are distributed throughout the month. The poll has not closed yet but it looks like from the 22 till the end of the month is a LOT bigger than the first half of the month. I think the 22 and 23 had 24 or so lids for those 2 days alone ( the most I saw on other days was 14 lids). Just wanted to pass on the info.

Yes, the large china only agency that I am with goes from 7/27 to 8/24.
Which brings me to my theory — those of you who had 8/10 thru 8/23 LID, when was your DTC? Was it 7/22 or after? Because, as many of you know, I was dtc 7/22 but not logged in until 8/24. I was crushed, but my agency has assured me all along that I would be referred along with those who were dtc same time as me, even if they got an earlier LID. SO — my theory is the 8/9 cutoff was not arbitrary. I believe those people were dtc around me, and that we will all be referred together next month. Obviously, I do not know everybody’s dtc date, so I could be way off. And, we won’t know until next month (when, if I miss it by one day I will be CRUSHED).
I know that doesn’t make it easier for you 8/10 people at all. And maybe you did have an earlier dtc, in which case this theory doesn’t work at all.
But, maybe CCAA has a plan, and will refer thru 8/24 next time.
Obviously, I am really hoping.
And, selfishly, I really wanted to get in on those nachos tg, so I hope we go together (we could do a secret santa or hanukkah harry to celebrate the season!)

I’m only DTC and not yet LID, with the big China agency. I am wondering, could they have sent out the e-mail with a date they were thinking before the CCAA posted the cutoff date? I guess the agency would have known something ahead of time about the cutoff date? well, maybe not. Could it be that they are being cautious til the actual documents arrive and we will receive a second e-mail with dates up to the Aug. 9 date? Does anyone have an LID with that big agency that is the first week of August? (I’m new at posting, so that may be too specific a question. Sorry if it is.)

Well since it looks like we’re probably going to be getting our
referral next month and travelling in December, does anyone know if in
the past, December APs have gotten home before Christmas? Before New
Years? It would be nice to be home before the 25th but I guess it all
depends on TAs. Be nice for tax purposes as well!

Congratulations to everyone! However, i’m so frustrated. I missed it by 2 days! Now I’m afraid that next month they will decide to go on vacation for 3 months because they will feel like they worked so hard to get in this number of days! :(

Leia, we are hoping to get all the medical info tomorrow and see her pic. She has the same birthday as my dh, November 12, 2005. Of course, he thought that was so cool. She is at the Fuzhou SW, Jiangxi Province. BTW, I’ll never forget last night when I saw your post about the ccaa site being updated. I think I almost fainted. My dh is in Denver, trying to get home early. Hoping to have more tomorrow, what a day!!

Again, congratulations to everyone about to get your referral and for those of you on deck - at least you know you will be next! Can’t wait to see your referral posts.
Chuck, we received our referral in October 2004 and left for China on Thanksgiving day and returned December 9th. There are many groups however that are in China over Christmas. FYI - as long as your adoption in China is completed before the end of the year, you will get your tax deduction for the year.

cungar, I got my referral on Oct 23 three years ago and came home the day before christmas which was magical. Post-Sars there were so many travelling at the same time however that others with the same date of referral had to travel a bit later and stay over christmas. Of course that was magical too, for them. But my guess is they would like to get you home before christmas.

Thanks guangximom and flowerpower. I know I’m being a bit presumptious since I don’t even have my referral yet but I’ve had a feeling we’d be travelling in December. My wife and I have taken quite a few December vacations (we live in Sothern California so we love going to cold weather). This one should be the most special ever.

Even though it says before 8/9/2005, they always include that date in the referrals. It is just worded incorrectly. Congrats if you are 8/9/05!

I am the DW of TG (hense the g of tg). I wanted to let every know how moved we are by the comments left here and on our blog page. I think both of us felt in the back of our minds that we weren’t going to make it this group, but it was still a big disapointment to find out we’d missed it by one day. It’s nice that T has such a great place to come to share his thoughts, his comments, and his silliness.

I just want to express how wonderful everyone onthis site is. I was really depressed about missing the cutoff since my LID is August 11th, and everyone here is just so supportive. One of the posts really made me laugh after waiting so long–someone had a dream that she picked up her daughter, and she was 90 years old! (from a while back) Anyway, congrats to everyone again, and I can’t wait to express my joy next month!!
