Something is on the way to the agencies. One agency has given their clients a tracking number so they can track the package, and a blogger has posted a screenshot of the tracking and it is scheduled to be delivered Monday. |

Several agencies have told clients that referrals were mailed Friday. I wish I knew for sure if these agencies were told this by the CCAA or if they checked with DHL to see if something was on the way and they are assuming it is referrals. We know something is on the way, I’m just not sure we know for sure what is in the package. I hope it is referrals, but I’m still giving this one an r4. |
Nothing on the cut off date stands out more than anything else.
Here is my analysis made on August 28th. This analysis says that if you look at numbers of referrals made in previous months the good case scenario is 8/16 and the bad case scenario is 7/28.
As for recent rumors: One agency hints that they aren’t going to get more than a couple of days into August, several are hinting to the middle of August, a couple could possibly (if you do the Sherlock Holmes thing) be saying somewhere close to a whole month this time. I’d prefer not to remember the original rumors that pointed to July 28th, but that’s still out there, too.
I am personally hoping that the cut off date will be between 8/5 and 8/15, but I am prepared for a bigger range than that (the window of possibility seems to be 7/28 to 8/23). If they manage to pull off a miracle and get beyond 8/16 I will be ecstatic, as this will mean that they have done more matches than they’ve done in a while and could point to things looking up.
It is my hope that the CCAA will change the website tonight so we don’t have to wait for referrals to arrive to know the cut-off date.

I told my hubby the other day that I would LOVE if CCAA surprised us with a cut off date of 08/23!! :o))) Are we going to have a cyber slumber party tonight? ;o)

We can do the cyber slumber party thing tonight, though I’m probably not going to be up until two in the morning with ya’ll this time. Or maybe I will. This month could tell the difference of a couple of months in my referral. If they only do <cringe> through 7/28 then I can forget seeing a picture in 2006. If they manage past 8/16 then that would be SuperFabuLOSO, and anywhere in between is yet another story.

Tomorrow is 1 month since we laid our eyes on our beautiful Ava baby so I think its a perfect day to see MORE babies :)

I am not close enough to referral to join you for a slumber party. By the time I get my referral RQ will be joining us at the slumber party while doing the three o’clock feeding.
I am still chanting AOA. I am determined to believe they have more paper ready babies now than they did in the summer and will take a big chunk out of August.

I think it woul dbe awesome if the website is updated tonight. We got our I-171H the day refferalls came out. I am hoping to be DTC this week. I think it ouwld be great to be DTC while everyone is rejoicing over getting their new refferals. I know it is selfish, but it helps me feel more apart of the action.

I haven’t slept well for the last 3 night’s sitting on pins and needles wondering about the cut off date.
I would get up and check the site but my DH thinks I’m insane as it is, checking this site and others 4-5 times a day, I don’t know what he would think about my checking at night also.
Hoping for referrals way into August, we all need some good news for a change.

I am so scared to find out they haven’t gotten far into August and maybe not even maybe out of July. I was so depressed after the last couple of batches and am dreading that feeling again. With a 9/29 LID I am like RQ in that if this batch isn’t well into Aug. there is probably no hope that we will see our little girls face this year.
I dont want to be overly worried-but not much to go on lately. I will probably not be up past 11:00 checking the site, but it willl be the first thing I do at 5:00 tomorrow morning.
It’s going to me a very long day.

It’s easy to tell we’re all a little stressed today. It’s scary to think of the possibility of not getting out of July and exciting to think of them possibly getting to the middle of august. The wait is just killing me now. With a LID of Aug 31/05, I have no idea if we will get a referral in October (best case) or December (worst case, in my mind). Andreas mom, I haven’t been sleeping well either…it’s all consuming, isn’t it? Let’s keep our fingers crossed for middle of August.

It is so interesting to me that international adoption is such a mix of extreme fear and hope. The polar opposites of so many emotions can be read in this site every day - nice that the group is so understanding of the depth and intensity these emotions have. With a LID of 9-2005 I wonder what my emotions will be with this months referrals….and how I will respond if I miss the cut off by a day or two. I am so glad that folks post their referral sites - it is so lovely to see their babies!!! keep your eye on the goal!! I am with waiting4Ash - AOA baby!! :)

Being Irish we tend to be a bit superstitious. Better to expect the worst and be pleasantly surprised I think.
The up and down stuff is just TOO HARD.
So, I am pretending that I know the date is through 7/28. If it comes in past that I will be quite surprised and happy!
My strategy–It is the best I can do with a most stressful situation.
Early congrats to those who will be getting their referrals in just a day or two! Much joy to you! We are all living vicariously.

BTW- OT here but since we will have no news until later (hopefully) would those who have begun a website for their adoption let me know the host pages. I want a user friendly site that you can post the pics with the daily entries-not on a separate page. I also want unlimited words and pics. (not asking much huh! This is my optimistic side as I decided not to start a site until we were shortly before referral:)

Having trouble getting thru today! Last night I dreamt that the cutoff was 8/06 but our agency called and told us we were defn. next. I was so excited!
I am fearing the 7/28 as well…..

The family at our agency that has been given the tracking info has a LID of July 25, 2005. As far as stork alerts go, maybe by giving out the tracking numbers that is their way of giving a stork alert. (Assuming this family got the tracking number from our agency - don’t know where else they would have gotten it.)

I know you don’t do that much with SN adoptions, but we were alerted from our agency that we could *possibly* be expecting TA early this next week. But we shouldn’t get our hopes up.

CAN I HEAR A WOO WOO!!!!
We’ll be up til at least midnight tonight which is 3pm Monday in China. I have in the past seen the CCAA website change around 11:30pm west coast time, so we may know something tonight! If not, waking up to it is fine with us!
Since everything is out of our hands for the rest of the day we bought last minute Dodger tickets and I’m gonna pack on a fews more paper-pregnancy pounds with Dodger Dogs and Nachcos!!!! (and of course gotta get some Dodger gear for the baby!!!!)
Can’t wait to see all the postings of referral pictures!

I just spent a beautiful morning on the beach with friends and my 2 dogs. Sitting next to us was a beautiful little girl named Olivia who was 3 1/2 and was adopted from China. I talked to her parents in depth and told them how much it has slowed down and the wait was driving me crazy. They began to tell me when they started that SARS was their problem and the wait was at 18 months and said it quickly went back to 9 months and a lot of people weren’t prepared, it came out of the blue. PLEASE LET THIS BE THE MONTH THAT IT COMES OUT OF THE BLUE….COME ON CCAA, PUT A SMILE ON OUR FACES.

This is such a great time of the month….you can just feel the excitement in the air. I truly hope they get far into August this month. I’m a WC momma now, but referral day is such a happy day for everyone, you can’t help but get swept up in it. I’ll definately be around waiting to hear the good news!

I also would like to know the LID of those agencies with something on the way. Our agency only has 1 LID in July, the 25th, so that’s not much help. They do have a package on the way with an estimated delivery of tomorrow.

ladybuginnebraska - think of it this way.
There are (using easy numbers here) 4000 more people for them to get through before they get to the (theoretical) Jones family. They are currently doing about 600 people a month, so that means it will be 6 or 7 months before they get to the Jones family.
But then if they suddenly start doing about 1200 people a month then suddenly you’re looking at it being 3 or 4 months until they get to the above theoretical family.
If there is someone else that has 12,000 people ahead of them in line then they get to divide that by 1200 instead of by 600.

I hope it’s referrals AND SN TA’s. The reason I think TA’s are in there is that my agency called on Friday just freaking out because they didn’t show my renewed passport in the file. Our consultant, who usually un-rattle-able, was babbling on and on about how she really really really hoped we had this passport. I called her back to assure we did, and she said that she was overnighting me a lot of paperwork that we had to fill out THAT DAY and overnight back to her the same day. And she said we had to be ready to leave asap.
The thing is, she said, “Don’t get your hopes up.” How do you pack your bag, get your money together, and do all this signing of paperwork without getting your hopes up? lol
Also, I didn’t think agencies were given the skinny on exactly WHAT is in the package. I thought you just found out when it got there.

After all this time, I can hardly believe I’ll be getting a referral soon! I’ve kind of spent the weekend in a bit of a fog, not thinking about what might happen on Monday . . . but now I’m starting to get excited. I hope the CCAA posts something tonight so we’ll all know what’s in the mail.
And I hope for everyone’s sake that this is a really large batch! It’s time for some good news.

I am so excited for all July and August LIDs, but am cautiously optimistic for myself (LID 8-15). Our I-171H expired in July, and we are awaiting our renewal confirmation, which we expect at any time. Though everything we’ve seen in writing indicates we must not have expired to be matched, both our agency and our social worker have told us that we would still receive our match from CCAA even with an expired I-171H but must have received our renewal prior to traveling. Is anyone else in this situation, or do you have any information that may ease my mind a bit? Thanks!

Me too - I’m so excited as to what the news will be tomorrow. With a late Nov LID, I am hoping for great progress. I have a good feeling…….GO CCAA!!
I love seeing the Dec 31st on the CCAA website…..it makes us feel like we are old veterans and are even closer to “the day”!! A good push into August would help the CCAA maintain the 13-14 month wait. I know - late Aug coming in late Oct could be 14 months plus a couple days, but I think at this point, many of us could live with this! :)

We would LOVE AOA, but are trying to be realistic. With our 8/24/05 LID we really think we have a much better chance of receiving our referral in October. I think I would faint dead away if all of August was sent. Our LID is just too large, I think, to be included.

Here is a question for all of you who either expect or deepy hope to be included in this batch of refferals. Have you made up a care package to send to your daughter and what is in it? We are making one (started it last week) We have a few toys (I obsessed about which ones to put in at babies r us) and disposible cameras (I’m hopeful with the 2 instead of 1), a little “book” with simple pictures of myself, dh and ds with some writing in it (it will be translated by our agencie’s China guide) and the rest is up for debate at this point, I’m trying to decide between a few different things. I wanted to put in a nice blanket, but our agency didn’t recomment it because it might get lost in the wash and not get back with her, but I want to send soft and cuddly things to her… What do you guys think??
