LID Group Memberships
We have LID rooms on the forum here and I decided to take a look at the membership numbers to see if that can tell us something. Again, we probably shouldn’t compare months that are more than two months apart, but this should give us an idea of how months that are close to each other compare.
October and November are going to be a bear to get through.
We can see that March is bigger than the months around it, so there is a good chance it’s as big as we’re being told it could be.
But, this probably isn’t a big enough sample size to really do a whole lot with. Still, it’s pretty interesting.
We’ll see where the latest poll has us in a few days.

It does look like numbers may be down, but then again a lot of people may feel they are so far out with referral dates that they may not be visiting this website. Does anyone know what the total referral numbers were for the last few referral batches?

Like I said, you should not be compariing months that are more than two months apart, for just that reason. People who are stalking a rumor blog generally tend to either 1) be recently DTC/LID or 2) be getting within a couple of months of their referral.
I believe that March is as big as October/November.

I don’t see the LID rooms in the forum. I just registered to see if that may have been the issue. But no rooms that pop out at me. Am I doing something wrong or am I blind?

Although these polls aren’t scientific it is interesting to see that after the first of the year LID’s seem to drop off a bit. My agency (medium size, china only, very tight lipped) has advised that they believe the referrals will speed up a bit after they get through the 2005 LIDs. How long it will take to get through the 2005 LIDs is another question all together. I have a 2/06 LID so I can imagine with my luck, referrals will speed up right after our family sets the record for the longest referral wait in Chinese adoption history. Such is life.

I also didn’t know about the LID forum… perhaps we’ve got a large community out there who actively review the blog but didn’t know about this forum feature.

Hello RQ, I don’t know what I am doing wrong but I am perpetually a guest in the forum, even though I can post here. I’ve had activation emails sent to me a few times but I’m stuck b/c I can’t remember my password, and the password can’t be retrieved. Should I just start from scratch with a new login name? Sorry to bore everyone else with this . . .

Instructions for resetting your password can be found here.
If you didn’t set up a question then don’t try to retrieve it, just follow the instructions to reset your password.

Hi Rumor Queen,
Really sorry to be having to ask you about this. I successfully got a new password to login to the site but when I go to Login in the forum it says the (same) password is incorrect. I tried registering but got an error that my username is already in use. I tried to change the user name for the forum and got an error that my email address is already assoicated with another username. I can’t (readily) change my email address. Any other suggestions?

You’ll need to use the password that you gave the site when you reset it. If you’ve forgotten what you reset it to, then try resetting it again. Maybe you typed it in wrong or something when you reset it?
About a dozen people a week reset their passwords and then get logged in, so I know it works.

Sigh! I tried the password that was emailed to me today (which I intitially did not change), then when I saw your new post I went in and changed the password to something new to try again. In both cases (the assigned password and the new password) I can get onto the site, but in the forum I am still getting the message that the user name Nancy is already in use.
not a big deal - I don’t visit the forum that often, but will be LID within the next month or so, so was planning on joining a LID group :(

Wait - are you changing your password on the blog and then trying it on the forum?
You’ll have to change it on the forum, the two do not talk to each other.

Okay! So I am logged in to the blog - what do I do in the forum - do I Register? or Login? Or is there some other choice where I first change my PW? I’m not having any luck registering or logging in b/c I’m getting the error messages about either the PW being wrong or the user name already being in use . . .
I really do appreciate the help - I usually do not have trouble with this sort of thing.
