TA’s are arriving
NSN TA’s from the most recent referral batch started arriving today. In some cases this means the CCAA got them out after barely more than a week after they returned from their vacation and first saw the acceptances.
As a reminder, referrals sometimes arrive shortly after TA’s arrive. However, any correlation between the two is just a coincidence. The Travel Approval Department is a completely different department than the Matching Department. I have been assured that the two have nothing to do with each other.
On another note, my days at work this week are filled with meetings. I will probably not be around as much as I normally am.

No news is good news I guess. Been a quiet weekend so far. Just wanted a place to voice my opinion on MADONNA! What right does she have to go to Africa and already gets to bring him home? It was on Extra or one of those shows tonight and other adopting couples voiced their opinions. Just cause she drops millions to help save the children, is that fair to us? No! All of us have waited MONTHS and she decides a week or two ago she wants another child and flys off to Africa, picks one and he is already w/her at her home. Hello! Famous people should have to go thru what WE ALL GO THRU! That’s my comment for now. I hope we start hearing about REFERRALS soon and RUMORS about how far they may get. I’m hoping for the rest of August and maybe even some of Sept. This wait is kicking my ??? (LID 10/27/05)

YEAH!! Congratulaions to everyone who receives their TA soon! I’ve been away for a few days and this is exactly the kind of news I was hoping to hear when I got back home.
October 16th, 2006 at 7:57 pm
Tiffany,
WOOHOOOO FOR YOU! You must be thrilled. We didn’t get ours (yet :^>) but I’ve got all fingers and toes crossed. I was feeling so disappointed until I read your comment!

Congratulations on those getting their TA’s soon…I know you are so relieved.

October 16th, 2006 at 8:15 pm

Bring on the referrals!!
Regarding the Madonna issue, I think it’s great that she’s adopting. Just think of the opportunity that this little boy has been given. His country has a huge AIDS population. I for one am happy about his adoption. And we don’t really know what hoops Madonna had to jump through. Even though she’s a celeb, I doubt that her adopting was just getting on a plane, picking out a child and returning home with a child. I don’t know, my opinion is that it’s one less child suffering. And whatever Madonna went through with her adoption doesn’t affect what I’m currently going through. Sorry to ramble, it’s just that I don’t understand why more people aren’t excited and happy for Madge :)
October 16th, 2006 at 8:55 pm
Tiffany – can you tell me when you sent your acceptance back? – i want to guess how much behind yours, our TA could be.
Congrats!
October 16th, 2006 at 8:58 pm
Debbie — With all due respect, the adoption of a Malawi orphan by Madonna has nothing to do with our long wait. It is a good thing when a child is lifted out of abject poverty, by a famous person or not. Were you in line for a Malawi child? An African child? This is about children – not you or me.
October 16th, 2006 at 9:01 pm
Madonna is being discussed at length on the forum if you need to vent.
October 16th, 2006 at 9:17 pm
RQ,
You amaze me. I cannot believe you work full time, raise a daughter AND make the time to update this site almost daily!
Please don’t mis-understand me, I know you have a husband as well, and I know you do MUCH more than those few things I mentioned, I don’t want to minimize any of those important things!
Additionally, you have to moderate the unruly, and still have time to read posts in the forums and on this site and respond to them.
Simply amazing! You go girl!
October 16th, 2006 at 9:27 pm
The CCAA site must be down or being heavily used. Is anyone else having trouble getting in?
October 16th, 2006 at 9:30 pm
Congrats on all the TA’s. I really need to get busy in case our TA comes this week as well.

I am sorry…I didn’t even congratulate everyone who’s receiving their TA’s! I am really happy for all of you! Now I bet the time will really fly as you are scurrying around trying to pack and do all the last minute stuff…..how exciting!!!!
October 16th, 2006 at 9:39 pm
Congratulations TA receivers !!! I haven’t heard any news, yet. Still waiting!!!!
October 16th, 2006 at 9:40 pm
It took our group a week to get letters sent back, so they would have gotten there the week they were on vacation. Hope ours aren’t far behind these. Tiffany, when did your group send them back?
As for the Madonna issue, they said on the news today that they are launching an investigation as to her bypassing requirements. Apparently you have to live in the country a full year first.
October 16th, 2006 at 9:46 pm
Congrats to all who have gotten their TA’s!!!One step closer to holding your children! How exciting!
This whole process has worn me down, but I’m still holding on! Just a little longer and I’ll hopfully I’ll be joining you! Dreaming of the day meeting Mei and snapping a few photos on the “red couch” and celebrating with a toast in China with a few RQ friends. J- LID9/2/05

In the midst of my Madonna rambling, I forgot to congratulate all of those receiving TAs. Congrats!!
And for those of of still waiting for our referrals, when DH and I were waiting for Kylie’s referral, I remember how this time of year seemed to go quicker for us. With the Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years holidays, it REALLy helped take my mind off the torturous wait. So, even though I won’t have our baby by Christmas (sigh), it’s nice to know that I’ll have some distraction to pass the time.
Like I said previously….BRING ON THE REFERRALS!

Regarding Madonna adopting from Africa, I don’t know about the rules of the specific African country she adopted from, but I know from talking with an international adoption rep at an agency that waiting times can vary in Africa, and that if you are pushy you can sometimes make the wait go quicker, but it creates problems if families start going themselves, rather than through the proper protocol with an agency who knows how to politely go through all the political channels the right way. Some pushy families may get their way, but then officials get sick of pushy families and programs can be shut down or slowed incredibly (that is what the IA rep explained to me). More children are able to be adopted when families don’t over rush things and let their agencies do things more politely (knowing the culture, ect…) . I’m not saying this is what Madonna did – I have no clue. Madonna may have smoothed any ruffled feathers if she was a bit pushy by so generously helping with poverty. Or Maybe she gave money and then asked to adopt, and since the officials may have already been acquainted with her, the process was that much faster – who knows.
I’m more awed by the fact that she gave millions (is that true? Millions?) to help save people. I know that animals and the environment are important and that there are quite poor people in North America, but the poor in North America, is nothing compared to the poverty, starvation, aids and death rate in some African countries. I wish more rich people would give so much for starving and literally dying groups of people. I am so glad for all the people this helps to save, literally. It could be us and our children dying, it is simply sheer luck, or providence, that we were born in the coutries we were born into. It could have easily been so different for any one of us.
October 16th, 2006 at 11:17 pm
Congratulations to all who have received their TAs!! Enough about Madge, Meg Ryan adopted a little girl from China…last Spring (?) and I think she was not given any preferrential treatment. She was on Oprah discussing the process.
- I agree distraction makes the waiting more tolerable. Somewhat.
October 16th, 2006 at 11:26 pm
Christina,
Tiffany and I are with the same agency. We got our referral on Sept. 26th and sent the acceptance back the next day.
We are so excited and can hardly wait. I was on a great high today!

Hello again all….let me explain. Any child in a Country of poverty that is sick or abandoned deserves to be saved and taken to a new and loving home where they will want for nothing. I am just not happy w/the way in which Madonna went about it which is why it was all over the news. Meg Ryan adopted from China and her story sounds like we we are all going thru. All Country’s have their own rules. Our Emma will be coming from China and NOT Africa but I just feel frustration in that no matter what Country you are adopting from, we have protocol and waits to go thru and just because she is a millionaire and can flash some cash around, she can just go and get a baby. That’s all I’m saying. First word we heard was a week or two ago that she was INTERESTED in “adopting” a baby from Africa and now 1-2 weeks later she is bringing him home. I’d like to go to China and bring Emma home. Its been an 18mo. wait from the start of paperwork and will be our one year LID Anniversary very soon. We all want our babies is all I’m saying and yet someone like Madonna can just go get one. Believe me, IF I had the resources/$$ I’d adopt as many unwanted and sick and underpriv. kids as possible. For now, we will do one child at a time. All of us are doing an amazing thing and we’re learning patience thru this wait. Its all we can do. I just figured I’d voice my opinion incase anyone else wanted to share how I felt. Sorry for offending anyone or making it sound like children from other Countries don’t deserve to be adopted. ALL helpless, abandoned children deserve a chance at life.

sorry hadn’t been around much…this month has proven to be a bit of a busy one so far….and probably a good thing otherwise we’d be going bonkers waiting for our call. at least now that TA’s are arriving it means things still are moving along just swimmingly even with the two holidays happening the same week. now bring on the referrals!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
congrats again to all of you getting your TAs. :)

I am SO relieved. Hopefully our version of the TA is not far behind. Such is my determination to get to China ASAP, I’ve gone against all advice and proceeded with our travel plans on the basis that our Invitation To Travel would not take long. Flights booked, CA made…it could’ve all gone horribly wrong! Hurray for the CCAA and congratulations to everyone about to meet their baby!
Come on referrals!

Sweet Anna,
She is so cute! Don’t you just love those chubby cheeks? All the best to you and your family.

could you let us know when you sent back your acceptance letter?
October 17th, 2006 at 5:29 pm
christina, i was hoping you got an answer, i was wondering myself. Here’s to tomorrow!!!
October 17th, 2006 at 5:36 pm
jfkof3 – no answer yet and scouring all the boards to see if people are putting it elsewhere. I am ddyyiinggg! I know that ours won’t come till at least next week (our acceptances did not go out till the 3rd), but in the meantime I can fill my time and nervous energy trying to figure out what is going on. At the time it did not seem as big a deal that it took a while for the group to get their stuff together but now that I am seeing TAs come back I feel bad for the people in the group who had to wait for me.
October 17th, 2006 at 5:39 pm
christina, it will be alright. It WILL happen and very soon. I’m very eagerly waiting myself. Let’s hope for tomorrow!!!
October 17th, 2006 at 6:17 pm

To have an actual date, to plan, to make our plane reservations. woohoo, looking forward to ‘the moment’. Enjoy your evening.

thanks for the info chinalouie, we shouldn’t be far behind you then!!
October 17th, 2006 at 9:34 pm
Christina,
My agency told me that they had the acceptances there during CCA holiday so CCAA would receive it upon their return. My agency received TAs for most of the groups and are hoping to receive the rest of the groups soon.
October 17th, 2006 at 9:40 pm
Christina,
Our agency said the acceptance letters went out while CCAA was on holiday so should have been waiting upon their return. Our agency received TAs for many groups but were still waiting for the remaining groups. If our consulate appt goes as planned we will leave first week of November.
October 17th, 2006 at 10:57 pm
Thanks to those who congratulated us on our sweet Anna Mei. We got our consulate appointment today. We leave on November 7th. Yahoo!!!
October 17th, 2006 at 11:03 pm
Hallelujah! We got news of our TA this afternoon… waiting to hear when the consulate appointment might be. “Congratulations” to everyone else receiving TA’s this time! It’s really going to happen. (sigh)
Now, come on referrals – should be soon!
Getting excited for you, TGREDTHREAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
October 18th, 2006 at 10:11 am
For those of you who received your TA and CA already this time, how many days were between the two? I do not have my TA yet, but am expecting to get it very soon. Our group’s letters went back to the CCAA on 9-28….we were told when we got our referral that travel would tentatively be Nov. 23- Dec. 7….with a 50% chance of it changing. Could it POSSIBLY change by that many days? I am starting to freak out and need to prepare myself for anything! Thanks for any help you can provide!
October 18th, 2006 at 3:15 pm
We haven’t received our TA yet. I did find out that our acceptance letter didn’t returned to CCAA officially until the 12th of Oct. Yes, I am bummed about that, but maybe it will be Friday or if not then, Maybe first of next week. I am leaving the computer for now. Headed to the beach with our youth group from church. Much needed outing!
