Referrals early next week?
An agency has told their 8/23 people that they have made this cutoff, and that referrals will arrive early next week.
The agency does not have anymore LID’s after 8/23 for a while. Two people are reporting the information from the agency.
I’m taking this as an “at least through 8/23″ rumor.
Update: It appears 8/31 will not be included this time. So, the cut-off (based on r2 rumors) looks to be somewhere between 8/23 and 8/30.
My predictions for this month can be found here (how far) and here (when).
Update #2: We now have information that makes it look like 8/30 will not be in this batch. This moves the likely cut-off (still based on mostly r2 rumors) between 8/23 and 8/29 (inclusive).

Can anyone access the CCAA website and post an update here? I can’t do it from work, but someone on the APC yahoo group said it had been updated but didn’t post the date they’ve completed matches!
Thanks!

wooooohooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

:)
sorry i’m not at all excited or anything.
i really do hope they get farther than 8/23 however…that would pretty much stink if they don’t.
October 17th, 2006 at 3:14 pm
I don’t think there’s going to be speed up – at all.
Hope I am wrong, but – we’ve been hoping for a speed-up every month, hoping *that* month will get back to normal (ie, at least a month’s worth of dossiers referred each month) and each month it’s only a week or 2 worth of dossiers referred.
I think this IS the new normal. I don’t think CCAA is going to speed up anything. Eventually they will maybe catch up with the backload of dossiers – if the amount of people adopting slows down, but I don’t think the wait will ever be under 12 months again, at the very least. I think that’s part of what caused the “holdup” now – having one of the shortest “paperwork to baby” programs and lower costs than many other international adoption programs plus added publicity equals a LOT more people applying to adopt. If twice as many people are in line as there used to be… well, it’s gonna be a much longer wait. Maybe China sees it as no problem at all (the wait for us). For them, all that happens is a few people might drop out – there are literally thousands more waiting to adopt the kids who are paper ready.
As far as CCAA being worried about such a huge backlog of files… well, it’s job security, yah?!
Thinking out loud… as I said, I sure hope I’m wrong!

I’ve been checking all day and it has not been updated. Why I’ve been checking all day when I know it’s the middle of the night in China, I don’t know.

October 17th, 2006 at 3:20 pm
thanks looney! :)
all we’ve been really hoping for was that we’d go into this weekend knowing something…whether they were coming or would be sent out sometime soon.
this kind of rumour definitely works…hehe
October 17th, 2006 at 3:20 pm
Disappointed that the rumour only goes to the 23rd. If they can’t even make the 24th this time then it will take another 2 months to get to the end of August. I’d set my worst case scenario as getting referred end of December but with 7th Sept it may now be January. My girl’s red thread is one long piece of elastic and my arms (& heart) are weary from trying to pull her in close.

well we have to remember that this agency says they don’t have any LIDs after the 23rd for awhile. that doesn’t mean the CCAA can’t go farther than the 23rd.
I’m seriously pulling for a bit farther than that.

My agency sent a letter saying “families should be prepared to wait up to 14 months” We shall see. My spouse and I agree it might be time to pull the plug on this, we simply are not prepared to continue in limbo for so long. Heck I retired 4 months ago to be home with her, had to give the boss 12 months notice, and guess what no her, and dont know when “pnut” will get here. Cant make any plans for our other children without knowing what is going on with her? VERY FRUSTRATED
October 17th, 2006 at 3:38 pm
w8n4her-
We just received a letter stating the exact same thing. Are we maybe with the same agency? If you are willing, please email me at starwars@fairpoint.net. I have been looking for someone who is with the same agency as us for a while.

CONGRATS to all the referrals that are probably coming next week.
I am very happy that they did 2 weeks instead of the few days that they did for awhile!!! This is progress and here is hoping they keep the wait back to 12 months.

It does give me hope that this particular agency does not have any LIDs for a while past August 23rd. They told their people that they would be in this next batch. That does not mean that the CCAA will not go past this date. I really hope that they at least get through the 24th (and beyond). Congrats to the families that will be in this next batch. What an exciting time for all of you!!
October 17th, 2006 at 3:50 pm
I hope they at least go through the 24th. My large China only agency does not have any LID’s between July 27th and August 24th. I thought that was pretty weird for such a large agency. They have quite a few logged in on the 24th.

You know we will probably be the last to receive our TA’s considering we were some of the last to receive our referrals. LOL I hoping tomorrow on our TA. It is my and DH 20th wedding anniversary. Wouldn’t that be an awesome gift.
Congrats on the ones who will be receiving referrals soon! I am so excited for you and can’t wait to see their beautiful faces.

If the cutoff is going to be August 30th I will be holding my breath for sure. As I mentioned before, our agency has told us that the August 31st LID group will get their referrals before us. Can’t wait to see how this pans out….

I emailed our agency to ask if she meant the 23rd was the cut-off or if they went passed the 23rd. She said she didn’t remember what was told to her, just that our agency’s August group was included which is apparently August 23. So there is a chance it could go further?

starwarsME – Did you get an email or letter from your agency and why late in the day if E-mail? I’m just hoping all of this is true as I’m included for now, but I jsut need some official confirmation, an r2 isn’t getting it for me, as I need to protect myself!!!!

October 17th, 2006 at 4:21 pm
Sherry in VT–I’m afraid I agree with you–have been thinking that way since he slowdown started. On the bright side, 2-3 years is really not that long to wait. However, I know all too well that it is a long time for those who started the process thinking it was going to be a 6 month wait. I also think it’s also gonna be a rude shock for all the families just now starting who are being told only “the wait is 14 months” and nothing more. I understand why agencies are doing that but it’s incredibly misleading, I think.
October 17th, 2006 at 4:23 pm
Been away from the computer for awhile. Looks like we missed some “good news”. My dh and I are trying to wait patiently till next week. That’s a lie. I’m ready to jump up and down, shout with happiness…..
I’ve been reading RQ for awhile and just want to say I’m so excited for you TG. Also for all those other August LIDers. Our LID is 8/16/05. We’re going to finally see those cute little faces. We just sent our 171 update. It expires 12/6/06. Hopefully it will be back soon.
We’re keeping our fingers crossed they get thru lots more of August!!! Yipeeee!!!!!!! Also, Thanks RQ.

Happy Hour,
I got a letter. However, when we do email i usually get them later in the day, as we are on the opposite ends of the time zone with our agency. I wish they would email all of their correspondance. So we could get it faster.
I am with you on the “Good thing it’s not “must see TV Thursday” thing”.
Congratulations to all of you who will be seeing your little ones soon.
October 17th, 2006 at 4:26 pm
So, if it is going to take at least 3 rounds of referrals to get through August, how many for months like October and November???
With a feb LID, those 2 months are just going to kill me!!

I was thinking the same thing… and we have a December LID. This wait is making us a little crazy!!
I’m extremely happy for all the families that will be getting word about their little ones… can’t wait to see all those photos.
October 17th, 2006 at 4:42 pm
We are in the same positon as w8n4her.
I feel that is what the CCAA wants – is to run us off. The agency won’t be out of too much $ either, since they already have a big chunk. Our agency doesn’t give a rats a$$ about us, anyways. They’re website still says 8-10 till referral, and the only thing we get from them is the cold shoulder.
I am happy for all of you who have waited so long – this is great news that your time is almost here.
October 17th, 2006 at 4:43 pm

Enlighten us….are you getting several emails saying cut off dates – are you confident this is all above an R2? Not that it effects me but boy I really really was hoping they would get it into September….
October 17th, 2006 at 4:46 pm
frustrated- I’ve clearly stated that this is currently based on mostly r2 rumors.
I need information from more people and/or more agencies before I can upgrade the current rumors to r3.
October 17th, 2006 at 4:47 pm
Hi RQ
Thanks…it just sounded like you were pretty confident about this. Got to put back on my this is just rumors (I’ve a friend who is offline on hols who is Aug 30th).

“Our agency doesn’t give a rats a$$ about us, anyways. They’re website still says 8-10 till referral, and the only thing we get from them is the cold shoulder.” — treehugger
Agency websites that report this as “current” wait times are misleading and misinforming, possibly to attract future clients. There are state or federal (if you’re US) laws against false advertising, and the words “class action lawsuit” in a careful letter, whether signed or anonymous, would be enough, er, encouragement for a business to update its website.
October 17th, 2006 at 4:49 pm
Jouk: With a Sept. 7 LID, you think won’t get your referral until January? I’m thinking November looks good for you. Fill me in on your thinking.
October 17th, 2006 at 4:49 pm

October 17th, 2006 at 4:52 pm
So if I am 8/11/05 LID, will I DEFINITELY get my referral this time? Why can’t I believe this is true? I haven’t heard from my agency at all, and they NEVER answer any questions about when to expect a referral. Will EVERYBODY who is LID before August 23rd get a referral? Is it possible that they could skip certain people or agencies? See how nuts I have become?
October 17th, 2006 at 5:02 pm
Lauriesue,
YOU WILL GET YOUR REFERRAL THIS MONTH!!! I sure hope you post your referral pictures so the rest of us can enjoy them!!! An early congratulations to you!!!!!!

Being the pessimist that I am I got to Jan referral as follows: looking at the poll results and if they only got to Aug 23rd this month (I know this is the worst case scenario) then by referring similar numbers (based on poll figures) they would get to Aug 25th in November and then Aug 30th in December. Probably way too pessimistic – hope so. Realistically I think December for Sept 7th LID.
October 17th, 2006 at 5:14 pm
Yikes! I am now nervous. With our 8/24 LID we have been on the fence the entire month. Our wait will hit 14 months next week!! Please, please, please…. we just need to know one way or the other. I don’t like fences!!!!
October 17th, 2006 at 5:16 pm
treehugger, I feel just exactly like you about the agencies! I do not think they care at all about the babies or families waiting for them. It has been over a month since I have posted because I have been so down about this whole experience and feel lied to and betrayed by our agency that was so friendly, communicative, and helpful until we paid our final payment when our dossier was sent to China. Ever since then they have been like a bank vault. It is sad to finally face the truth that the agencies are all about the money. As for non-profit status, that is only a business classification for tax purposes and says nothing about their real mission of making big bucks off families that just want to be a family and following their hearts in achieving that. We are so close yet so far from being a family and it hurts!
Others have mentioned that China does not owe us anything, which is true, but that is not true for our agencies. We paid them for services and information they have chosen not to provide. They cannot make China send referrals any faster, but I for one think they know a lot more than they are saying and don’t understand the ethics they possess in keeping families in the dark about redoing fingerprints, home study, or renewing I171H. Families are given a pat answer of redo everything like we have all the money in the world to do this. Then you are in a catch 22 because they say nothing, yet you fear retribution in asking too much or too often because they can hold up your referral or TA any time they like or maybe even leave you hanging in China. You can see I have no confidence or trust in an agency that has so little respect for me, my family, and all of you. I just wish there was a place to list the names of crappy agencies like mine so other loving and caring families don’t get stuck with them until it is too late!
October 17th, 2006 at 5:18 pm
Jouk,
You are looking at November. You have to be. I am hoping for Nov. and I’m Sept. 13th. I realize I’m overly confident, and there is a good chance I’ll be December (that would suck) But with a 9.7.05 LID, you have got to be November. Especially if they get to 8.29 this time.
October 17th, 2006 at 5:23 pm
Ugggh…if all they do are 2 weeks at a time our LID of 4/06 won’t get us a referral until around Jan/Feb of 2008!!! Definitely a 24 month wait.
A lovely neighbor of mine said to me today, “you’ll be 95 by the time you get that kid.”
So much for neighbors!

We received word from our large China-only agency today about a possible short-term shift in matching by DTC dates rather than LID (for a small mix-up that occurred last year) They were specific is saying that they don’t know if this will truly occur or not but to be aware that it could…
So, basically what does this mean? Probably nothing.
Good luck to you August LIDers and hoping that you all get matched!!!
October 17th, 2006 at 5:29 pm
Oh come on guys. There may be agencies that are money oriented, but most of the people I have met in the IA world are humanitarians who give up higher paying jobs in other industries to work in the adoption field. The founder of my agency devotes his life to getting surgeries for SN children throughout the world.
I think it’s really unfair to rag on agencies in general because the China adoption program has slowed down. We’ve been waiting on a daughter for 2 1/2 years including a Philippines adoption that didn’t work out. Some countries (the Philippines) have waits of over 2 years. China is still uniting more children per year than just about any other country. The last people I blame for this is my agency.
October 17th, 2006 at 5:31 pm
Nicely put cungar! I too am frustrated by the wait times as our domestic adoption from start to finish (our son in our arms was only 5 months). Facing a potential 2 year wait is so much different for us…

October 17th, 2006 at 5:32 pm
Mom4tori, I understand your feelings. I am by nature a cynic so I went into this with the belief that my agency was in for the money, mainly. So it has not been a surprise that I have not heard much from them. I believe that there are agencies out there that do this for the greater good and there is one that I donate to and will continue to, because they also do so much for the children in so many countries that will not be adopted. They ship medicine, clothes, have milk funds – so many good things!!! Needed things!! So, there are some that are out there, doing a job and making a living at it – and there are some that are going above and beyond. Just give your child an extra hug when you have her or him and donate time/money for charities wisely.
October 17th, 2006 at 5:35 pm
All of you folks that are the early part of Septmber HAVE to be in November!! I will freak if you arent’. We are early Oct. and I for one do not want to wait until flippin March or April.

As I stated in previous email, I don’t blame my agency for the wait as they cannot do anything about that, but they can deliver on the services and communication with us that they touted so much about when trying to get us to sign the contract. DH and I have been in this process for well over 2 years and this is after getting no where in the domestic adoption world. If my agency had not bragged on their ability to keep families informed so much better than any other agency, then I probably wouldn’t think so much about it, but they did and they refuse to advise on anything now and make it clear that they don’t want emails or phone calls about any subject. I am sure not all agencies are the same and since I can only comment on mine, that is what I am doing and yet voicing understanding with the frustrations others are having with their agencies. It is nice to hear there really are good agencies working with adoptions.
October 17th, 2006 at 5:46 pm
Thanks Claire-
Considering I’ve had November in my head for so long, I’m INCREDIBLY STRESSED OUT. Logically, I know it probably won’t happen this month, but since it hasn’t actually been ruled out yet….there’s this glimmer of hope that I didn’t even realize I had until today, that won’t go away until I hear differently.
DH has had a gut feeling about October for a long time, so hopefully his gut is right! And our anniversary’s next week, so what an awesome gift a referral would be!
October 17th, 2006 at 5:52 pm
mom4tori – ditto, girlfriend.
Live and learn, and we didn’t pick the right agency.
It IS great to hear about the agencies that care, and I too know they are out there. I don’t blame them for the wait. Our agencies don’t have control over the referral times – but they do over customer service. And thats the rub.
Good communications could have made this wait a totally different experience for us.
October 17th, 2006 at 5:53 pm
My prediction for what it’s worth: out of the past 10 months, referrals were completed on a Monday 6 of those months…going with the odds I would say the referrals are completed on the 23rd or the 30th of October and will include up to the 29th based on Aug 30 ’05 being a big LID day. Congrats to all the families who will be included in this month’s referrals!
October 17th, 2006 at 6:08 pm
Holy Smokes! I, like a few others here, cannot believe we are finally talking about US in this latest referral rumour. I’m still in disbelief that we could be included. I really don’t know how we would have made it through the wait without this site as our agency also has given us very little communications.
Early congrats to all who are in this batch.
Dare I get excited?

Wow! I am so sorry that many of you have had such a horrible experience with your agency. Some of these stories sound like a nightmare. I wish you could all have the agency that I have. It just makes me appreciate mine even more. They have been so wonderfully supportive.
Since the delay, thay have set up a mentor program for support for those of us waiting and also hired people to call us regularly and find out how we are doing. The personal touch brought tears to my eyes, knowing that someone actual cares. As a single with family in far parts of the country, it means a lot to me. They have recently implemeted a network for those us with similar LIDs so that we can chat with each other. Last month, we received a personal letter from the director that was full of compassion and understanding about the wait.
I am so glad I went with this agency and would recommend them in a heart beat. I am so sorry for those of you who have had such a non-supportive experience.
