Horrible timing

I have a perceived crisis on a huge project at work. I will be boarding a plane this evening to go take care of it in person. There is a very good possibility that I will not have access to the internet until Saturday.

While I am gone my husband (RK) will be in charge. You should be on your best behaviour. I like to use tact and humor and logic to keep things civil, he uses a big stick.

Before I leave I will create two posts – one for ya’ll to use as a chat thread and another for people to use for only rumors.

I can already feel the withdrawal symptoms starting.

    Safe journey !

But, please, try to find an internet cafe or something :-) I bet you (and so do we!) become crazy without “rumorqueening”.

Have a good trip RQ, hurry back!! Welcome, Rumor King!!!
And if we promise to behave, will Rumor King post as often as able?

Have a safe journey – hope all goes well. We will behave for RK! I kinda’ feel like we just got a substitute bus driver….what WILL we do…. :)

  9. belgianmomtobe Says:

    Misformom,
good question: “will Rumor King post as often as able? ”
I think the Rumor King has to post at least 20 times a day :-)

  10. smalltowngirl Says:

We used to be really mean to substitute teachers, played jokes on them and all. Don’t know how we’d do that online, but it is food for thought! ;-) All hail to the RK!

  11. Julenisse Says:

Have a safe trip dear RQ, wherever you go…..probably into the bushes….since there is no internet.

Meanwhile I look forward to meet the King …….with his (biiig?) stick…..LOL

    ;-) Beate

  12. RumorQueen Says:

    LOL – ya’ll are baaaaaddddd.

  13. wunone16 Says:

I think The Who said it best, “Meet the new boss…same as the old boss…”

  14. Luna Says:

RK’s biiiig stick……things that make you go hmmmmmm!

  15. Happy Hour Says:

Luna – you are naughty LOL!!!

  16. Luna Says:

Admit it……I can’t be the only one that was thinking it!!!!!! =)

  17. KatinSeattle Says:

    Naughty, Naughty, Naughty! But FUNNY!

  18. 2china4chloemadison Says:

LOL.you guys are like a bunch of teenagers…lol..

  19. PhotoHappy Says:

So the Rumor Kingdom is in Canada? (Rumor queen says “behaviour”)? ; )

  20. Luna Says:

    PhotoHappy,
Believe it or not (even AFTER the big stick comment), I noticed that too! =)

  21. wearewaiting Says:

Lets not “expose” the Queen ;) (Although I had seen something a few weeks ago that gave me a clue as well…)

Okay RK… have anything for us???

  22. donandtamara Says:

I was wondering about that extra “U”. Well if the kingdom is in Canada, the Queen is very sweet to have all those posts in the past about our I171H’s when it wouldn’t apply to her.

  23. looneytunes32 Says:

    You guys are SO BAD!!!
    Shame, shame on you!!

    :o)

I totally missed the Canadian spelling…I can’t believe I missed that.

  24. auntiem Says:

I believe that in the past RQ has stated that she lives in the south. To me that means in the southern portion of the US, but that could be anywhere from Florida to Texas/Arizona. I don’t believe she is in Canada.

  25. sophie_mom Says:

    I don’t think she’s in Canada. She says “Y’all”. That’s a southern thang.

  26. PhotoHappy Says:

Canada is a large country and I’m sure when Canadians refer to the South they could also mean the south part of their country. There’s a large world outside the U.S. ; )

But I won’t press it, don’t need to know. Was just playing fun with that “extra” U. ; )

  27. meetoo Says:

So the old saying is true, “While the cat’s away, the mice will play”.

We did all sorts of stuff to substitutes in school (sound effect of evil laughter). Safe trip RQ and welcome RK.

We got our TA today! Yippeeee!!!!! One more hurdle. Hopefully we will travel Nov. 9. (Fingers crossed) How about the rest of you still waiting for TA? Any word?

Best of luck to those awaiting a referral.

    First Time poster here….

A thought… Louisianan has a large population of French or Acadian’s (decedents of those French Canadians) who settled there. So maybe everyone is right she is from the South (LA) and has a Canadian influence from her Ancestory.
New Orleans also home of Mardi Gras they use royal terms Like Queen, King and Kingdom a lot in conversation..

    Just a thought :)
Welcome King Rex oh I meant Rumor King

  29. Lauriesue Says:

Or maybe it simply was a typo! I think RQ is pretty amazing too, but we are all capable of errors! I’m in book publishing, so I see this stuff all the time.

  30. Little Ladybug Says:

Sophie Mom – you are so correct!
As a “Southern gal” I can tell you that “ya’ll” is pretty much strictly used in Tennessee, North Carolina, South Carolina and Georgia. I use it and every other sentence!
As for “behaviour”, it was a typo or she used it to try and throw us off her path… Sneeky, clever RQ!
    RK- HOW do you deal?

  31. Mom2Isabel Says:

Okay…got to say this whole Canada discussion has me envision of a Canadian Mountie eating a Moon Pie (strictly a Southern “thang” had me chuckling. I do believe her Highness is an Americano.

Now….for our time with the “Big” King.
Hmmm… No RQ until Saturday…I wonder how long I can “stick” it out?
    :-)

  32. Mom2Isabel Says:

With all the comments about his “stick”, I wonder if the RK is dealing a straight flush?

  33. Mom2Isabel Says:

    Meetoo-
CONGRATS!!!!! I know you are so excited.

BTW, as a Bostonian who has lived in
Florida for over26 years, may I say that “Ya’ll” is no stranger here either.

Oh..and a quick lesson for you Northerners (courtesy of my students)

    ya’ll = singular
    all ya’ll = plural

    :-)
    Laureen

  34. my3gals Says:

    Little Ladybug,
“Ya’ll” is used in Oklahoma as well. At least by me. I was born and raised in central Illinois, moved to Texas at the young age of 19 stayed there 4 years, picked up the drawl and it’s been with me ever since. I’m 44 now. So ya’ll stick around, she just may be from TX or OK.
    Debbie

  35. wearewaiting Says:

This is too much fun, all ya’ll!

  36. ADE Says:

As a North Florida Girl, I can tell you we use yall and I took much ribbing from cousins from Wisconsin. But they always said yous guys, so I don’t think the have much room to talk.

  37. 2tybug Says:

Hah! RQ a fellow Canadian! If that is the case I have been totally fooled – particularly by all the talk of US forms and fingerprinting that do not apply to many of us Canadians. For some reason (something I am sure I read awhile back) I was thinking Florida, too! Perhaps she is a transplanted Canadian? Born here (Canada) and married an American? Born here, moved there? Not so unusual – My dh is from USA – Vermont! But then again, she could be a Brit – we Canadians follow the Brits with our spelling. We have the best of both worlds – we can have good behavior or good behaviour and still pass the spelling test! And, no matter how you spell it, this labour/labor we are going through is still hell!
(Speaking of good behavior/behavior, RK might not want to talk to us at all if we don’t shut about that big stick!!!LOL)

  38. OurSweetMarlee Says:

    ADE,
I’m orig from the East coast, so I sounded just like your cousins from WI…saying “yous guys”, until my Floridian DH informed me the “proper” way to speak was “ya’ll”! lol

    *Ya’ll behave now!”

RQ…we will miss you. Have a safe trip!

RK…line em’ up, and hand out chocolate. They will behave! lol

  39. crickety Says:

If RQ were really Southern, as Florida, Georgia or Alabama, she would use ya’ll to be you/singular, and ALL ya’ll for you/plural!! :D (As clarified by The Sweet Potato Queens!!)

  40. daisybell2006 Says:

RQ could be European too. We Europeans spell “behaviour” like that too. So the mystery is not necessarily solved. lol.

  41. Little Ladybug Says:

    my3gals, ADE, Mom2Isabel –
Didn’t mean to leave “all ya’ll” out! (Thanks for the reference Crickety) Haven’t been to all ya’ll’s states in a bit, so I beg all ya’ll’s pardon! :)
Why do I suddenly feel like watching Paula Dean’s cookin’ show? And some collards and biscuits sure would be good right ’bout now!
All ya’ll have a wonderful evening, ya here?!

  42. wearewaiting Says:

So, you don’t say “you guys”? Hmmm, I guess us Northern folks do have slang of our own!

Aren’t “you guys” ready for some referrals????

  43. RK Says:

Hello everyone. Judging by the way RQ rants and raves about this group I’m sure that we will all get along. While reading your comments I see that you have already started to amuse your selves. lol. I will not be posting as much as RQ does, and by no means should you think that I can fill her shoes, but I will be around when I’m needed.

BTW Mom2Isabel, not a straight flush…….a full house.

  44. meetoo Says:

    Our sweet Marlee,

We cannot be tamed by chocolate alone!!!

Now, RK, throw in some wine with that chocolate and you may have something.

    Good Luck!

    M

  45. mcginnisc Says:

Ok, so if you ARE a Southerner then you should spell it correctly!! :-) It is y’all not ya’ll by the way!! LOL

Sorry, born and raised in good ole’ Ga.

Y’all are very naughty little subjects aren’t you?? Big stick, huh?? That is sooooo funny!

All right RK, what do you have for us?? Her Majesty’s subjects have inquiring minds, ya know… RQ- have a safe journey and we will be on our best behavior… well, maybe…

  46. looneytunes32 Says:

Hey, I’m in MI and I use y’all.
I think I got it from y’all southerners though.
I’d been spelling it wrong though. Thanks for the lesson Claire!

I think RQ does these little ‘hints’ just to throw us off.

  47. Katri Says:

Don’t y’all remember the chipmunk episode? “There ain’t no chipmunks down South!” She’s a Yankee for sure!

  48. Happy Hour Says:

I vote, RQ is highly intelligent, well educated, lives in the East somewhere… Not south, but East. She tricks us all so we can’t figure it out.

  49. PhotoHappy Says:

Born in panhandle part of Florida, raised in Phoenix, living in Minnesota for six years – have used y’all as long as I can remember.

  50. Firsttimemom Says:

Okay “you guys” from the south, relax with the y’alls and the all y’alls. I’m from New York City & vicinity (lived 15 years of that in Brooklyn U.S.A.) and I know you don’t want a lesson in vocabulary from me. I’m claiming the RQ as a Northeast-coaster. She’s got the sardonic sense of humor that fits here.
