WAG’s

Disclaimer: none of these are rumors. Do not report them as rumors. They are WAG’s - otherwise known as Wild Assed Guesses.

1. There are two people who can sign referrals. One of them is always supposed to be scheduled to be in the office, so both can’t be sent out of town at the same time. Maybe one is out of town and the other had to go in for an emergency appendectomy. (Not sure if this works for TA’s, as I don’t know if the same people sign TA’s.)

2. The CCAA is tired of the bellyaching about how it’s not fair that some people about to receive a referral were DTC after people who aren’t in this batch because of the LID screw up, so they are going to wait and issue them all at the same time to make them fair. (this one does not explain why TA’s are delayed)

3. The agency with skipped people is not the only one with skipped people and the CCAA is scrambling to try to fix the problem so they don’t skip a whole lot of people with LID’s that should be getting a referral. (this one does not explain why TA’s are delayed)

4. They are firing a bunch of people, cleaning house and taking names. (This one could explain why TA’s are delayed)

5. They are undergoing a major change in policy and cannot send this batch out until it is all final. (This one could also explain why TA’s are delayed)

I’m going to stop here, my imagination just gets worse from here.

If anyone has any further information from your agency, please, please, share. As always, if you email or PM it to me I will keep it anonymous.

IF #4 is true….I hope they don’t fire the leaky faucet!

  2. Pam Says:

it’s that #5 that really scares me, it just could be anything. If they think the only way to shorten the wait is to start eliminating people already reviewed or, I think I’d better stop here also as I’m coming up with some scary possiblilities that are likely just my imagination running away

  3. Snoopy8 Says:

    Pam,

    What? >>

The people who have waited the longest? Is that what you mean? Oh, they better not! They’d have a lot of crazy mad people on their hands!

  4. GrasshopperDreams Says:

Boy, is life a bowl of cherries with a LOT of pits right now. We just need to make sure we do not crack any crowns when chomping down.

  5. Snoopy8 Says:

Sorry, part of my post disappeared. I was referring to your comment about “if they think the only way to shorten the wait is to start eliminating people already reviewed…”

  6. Happy Hour Says:

RQ - I keep holding onto the range you originally gave us. You predicted referrals between the 25th and 31st, so you are still in the running with your predictions…. I have resigned myself to not get whacko until Friday. I’ve been so up and down, I’m feeling like a pogo stick.

I’ll check in tomorrow. Hang on to your sanity all!!!

  7. andreas mom Says:

Our agency is giving out daily updates to those waiting. They say they don’t really have any news on why it is taking so long. With a LID of 8/30 and part of the mix up I am hoping they do all of August so no one gets left out. We all have gone through a lot esp those with LID of the 10th.
We all want to see our babies faces but we are at the mercy of a government agency who feels we are impatient and need to learn this trait. Well I got news for them I’ve waited this long they can’t change my mind, I’ll wait how-ever long it takes but in the mean time I’m going to bi@#$ about this wait.

may or may not agree with the first part, but I totally agree with you on the “i’ve waited this long and I’ll wait however long it takes but in the mean time…”
the DW and I were talking earlier and we were both like…we started off expecting a referral in 6-7months from LID and it’s almost been 15. we missed the last month’s referral by 1 day (8.10.05LID) and ended up having to re-do our I-171H. we know we’ve been matched and are waiting and still waiting to see our daughter’s face for the first time.

people have said…well if it’s meant to be it’s meant to be. And, there’s a reason why you’ve had to wait just a bit longer. And, maybe the right child for you wasn’t quite ready yet. Etc Etc. Well, we’ve waited from 6/7months to almost 15. we’ve waited somewhat patiently an addition 4 weeks after missing the last group’s cut-off by a day. We’ve waited while knowing the CCAA was working on matches and we’ve waited while we’ve figured they were soon on the way here.

well, we’ve gone beyond the ‘waiting for a reason’ threshhold. we’ve been matched, we have a child chosen for us, and now we have to wait for who knows how much longer to see her for the first time?! Please!!!!

you’ve said it straight about how we’ve all gone through alot and going to bi@#$ about it. :)

thank you for expressing that for all of us. :)

Okay…no kidding-we received referral on January 30, 2005. TA’s were delayed FOREVER (we didn’t receive them until late March) because….now get this….the ONE printer that printed the TA’s had received a software upgrade and then wouldn’t work. We really doubted this excuse…but apparently it was true.

  10. LadyBug4 Says:

Hi. My agency called me at work today (this is a big, China only agency). The last time they called me at work it was for the referral of my 4 year old (she was 6months old then), so naturally, even though I have a 11/16/2005 LID, I thought THIS IS IT! No. It was clear to me they’re getting anxious, too. This was a check-up call. And without answering too many of my questions with hard fact, I got the message: Wait, Wait, Wait. Sorry to report such dismal news. . .

  11. 2china2adopt Says:

I heard through the grapevine (family member from China)that the internal government is having some troubles right now (of course we don’t know what). I spoke to our agency and the only thing that they know is that the CCAA is not commenting on when the referals will be sent. My SW stated that the first of the year is going to bring new changes. So put them together, is the government contemplating on how to change the IA program, which has them tied up instead of sending referrals? Worth a shot…..

  12. slkc Says:

I would like to suggest a WAG for the delays: The CCAA worker bees are in the dark as much as we are, and they are so busy checking the RQ site to find out what’s going on that they haven’t been getting their work done…

  13. waitingfor2 Says:

Well no one has mentioned my first thought on why both TAs and referrals would be delayed. What if the internal problem was not on our side but with the group that reviews the paperwork of the babies? What if they were not ensuring that all the new paperwork was done and someone became aware of it. In order to make sure that all the policies that were instituted after the trafficking scandal - what if they are now having to go through each referral and child already referred but TA not yet sent and make sure they meet the new criteria and that is what is holding everything up? Does that make sense? Or am I just so exhausted by the wait that I’m blathering???
    8/24 LID

  14. RumorQueen Says:

2china2adopt - I’m a bit nervous about that as well. Here is a story on what is going on, and apparently there are many people high up in the communist party who are being investigated right now. I have no idea how high up in the communist party you have to be to get an appointment as director of the CCAA. I have heard that the director of the matching room is pretty high up, though.

  15. postfarm Says:

    phoebesmom,

You can see a picture of the ONE printer for TAs at this website:

    http://www.angelcovers.org

There have been a couple of other times in CCAA history when it wasn’t working and TAs were delayed.

  16. postfarm Says:

Sorry phoebesmom, gave you the wrong link. It is:

    http://www.angelcovers.org/ccaaset2.shtml

  17. seachange Says:

I’ve heard the one printer story too. It’s a bit of a reality check when in most of our workplaces when a bit of equipment breaks we just call in the IT guy…or use another printer.
Could that really be the holdup?? I’d rather go with the wonky printer WAG than the scary internal problems story. Sheesh….

  18. RumorQueen Says:

Supposedly the CCAA has upgraded their systems at least twice since the “broken printer” story.

I’ve heard several people talk about all of the new technology in the new office, I’m pretty sure we’re not talking about a broken printer this time.

Plus, SN TA’s are still arriving. And supposedly a few NSN TA’s arrived overseas while we were sleeping that were mailed from the CCAA Friday. So it sounds like things are happening, but very very slowly.

  19. 2china2adopt Says:

Rumor Queen Thanks! My family member called me late last night and told me when he/she got a call from the family in China. The rumors in China is that all top officals have been called in to see how they want to deal with North Korea. Emergency meeting so maybe this is causing some of the delay. It depends if any of the officals are in the CCAA. Which I would lean to say yes.

  20. waitingforcelia Says:

Wouldn’t it be a little odd to have adoption officials determining foreign policy on North Korea?
