Cyber Slumber Party
It seems a lot of people want a slumber party tonight.
The CCAA has not been changing the site until the very last moment - right before they go home on the day that the packages are to arrive at our agencies. If they continue this pattern then I do not expect the site to change tonight.
However, since it is rumored that they are expected to be mailed tonight I suppose we can hope that they take pity on us and post the cut-off date.

My son is having a friend sleep-over tonight, who will last longer me or them?
December 28th, 2006 at 10:58 pm
I am just back from a trip to the beach… did not sleep much since It was a night flight. I will be here as long as I can reading your posts. Please, make ne laugh, It helps to stay awake! ;)

Take Pity on Us?
No way. They have no sympathy for us. I decided that about six months ago!
December 28th, 2006 at 11:00 pm
The BEACH!!
Here in Michigan… I could nap dreaming about a beach right about now!
December 28th, 2006 at 11:02 pm
Sewhopeful22, I second that. I am from Colorado and we are having our second major snow storm in a week.
December 28th, 2006 at 11:06 pm
I so want to go to the beach this weekend. It’s suppose to be in the 70’s at Myrtle and I’m 6 hours away by car.
December 28th, 2006 at 11:07 pm
Actually quite warm here for this time of year. Probably in the 50’s today… no white Christmas this year.. but I’m not complaining!
December 28th, 2006 at 11:07 pm
roadrunner,
When is the snow supposed to stop and will you be getting 18 inches? Good luck…hope you don’t lose power.
December 28th, 2006 at 11:10 pm
Is checking the CCAA site every five minutes a bad thing?
December 28th, 2006 at 11:12 pm
Sewhopeful22, were in Michigan are you? I live in Mi to!!
December 28th, 2006 at 11:13 pm
Oh man, I’m up in Alaska, I’d LOVE to go to the beach!! Heck, I’d be happy to just see the sun again!

Aha! I’ve been there! Very touristy! Do you grow alot of tulips??
December 28th, 2006 at 11:16 pm
Willowflower, I believe it is suppose to snow off and on until Sat. morning. I live in the northern part of Colorado Springs and we didn’t even have our roads plowed since our last snow storm (last Wed.) I couldn’t even tell you how much snow we have received sinced this morning because of all the snow from last week. I just hope that the airports and mail don’t stop like last time because I want my referral. 9-12-05 I have heard that my agency may not be open tomorrow due to safety issues. But, if referrals are mailed on Friday then our agencies wouldn’t get them until Mon. or Tues. and hopefully this will be long gone.
December 28th, 2006 at 11:17 pm
i don’t. i’ve seen enough of them in the past 33 years to last a life time.
December 28th, 2006 at 11:21 pm
thundercleese-
I’ll bet! My MIL is from Florida and we went on a family trip to Holland a few years ago. I don’t believe they can grow tulips in Florida since they don’t have a freeze. I thought I was going to lose it after a week-end of her pointing at each and every tulip she saw! Oh look!
I don’t grow them either… I tend to kill plants… don’t tell the CCAA they might add that to the list of requirements.
December 28th, 2006 at 11:25 pm
sewhopeful22-
lol…..i don’t know if i belong in this cyber slumber party since i am a long way of from a referal. but anyway……….if the CCAA added that, i’d be in trouble!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yup, first timer… how bout you?
December 28th, 2006 at 11:32 pm
I have to agree with RQ on this one. If the packages are expected at the agencies early next wwek, I predict that the site eill likely change sunday night (monday in china) or monday night (tuesday in china)
December 28th, 2006 at 11:32 pm
thundercleese-
I think we’re the only ones in here…it’s very quiet!!
December 28th, 2006 at 11:34 pm
I guess the question is… Why would they send referrals out and then work on the week-end?
Don’t you think they are working the week-end to finish them up?
December 28th, 2006 at 11:34 pm
When was CCAA site last checked? Here in California it is early but I am tired after a *lovely* 20 hour trip back from Connecticut yesterday.
Sweet dreams everyone.

nope… we’re online trying to find the best deal on airline prices… sooooo fun!!!! :-) Now all we need is a referral to justify these crazy hours spent online!!!!
December 28th, 2006 at 11:34 pm
yes..this is our first adoption and first child……..this is crazy how much the wait time has increased since we started this whole process. But, I know in the end, when we have our little girl in our arms, it will be worth every moment.
December 28th, 2006 at 11:37 pm
Anyone out there???
December 28th, 2006 at 11:38 pm
Oops sorry about that folks, forgot to refresh! I see plenty out there now! :)

What airlines are you looking at? I know there is supposed to be one that is better than the typical USAir, Delta, etc. that is supposed to be good food, roomy, good service, etc.

Hey, you have a great beach in Holland MI!
It was in the 60’s today in Memphis. Not very Holiday-like. We are a long way from a referral (march LID) but I am still so hopeful for all you who are so close to seeing your childs face.
December 28th, 2006 at 11:46 pm
it has not been holiday like weather here either. it was in the mid 40’s. that is crazy warm for this time of year. as much as i dont like snow, i missed it for Christmas.
December 28th, 2006 at 11:47 pm
CCAA is working this weekend to make up for the national holiday Jan 1-3.
As long as we’re hoping for SOB, can we also keep please clear Feb in review!

Hi everyone, I was just hoping around on the internet and found a website http://www.borninmommysheart.com, they have a “gotcha Day” cd and if you click on that option on the left you can actually play some of the songs. They are really sweet and may help you get through your slumber party……..

Sigh. Unfortunately, I don’t see that the CCAA has taken pity on us even once in the last year. But wouldn’t I love to be proved wrong tonight…
December 29th, 2006 at 12:31 am
Well, it’s only 1:30 over there, so there’s still plenty of time for them to change their web site. :-)

Well I am here tonight. One of my very good friends is in the hospital having her baby tonight. I am happy for her but a little saddened by the long wait. When I first started the process we were told to expect to get our baby in August 2007. I remember telling her that our daughters would be close in age. Now she may be having her second before we get our daughter. I am not envious of her having her child. I have had my own biological child who is 9 now. I am however, sad that I won’t have my second child for a lot longer than I thought. The wait is going to be excruciating. sorry for the downer. I just want to see some forward progress.

I understand completely. Many of my friends are on baby #2 since we announced that we were adopting. Also, my brother and his fiancee’ are expecting their little baby boy any day. I’m so thrilled for them and can’t wait to see my new nephew, but I must admit it’s a bit hard, especially since this will be our first child. We also saw my husband’s cousin and his wife yesterday and they’ve announced they’re expecting. It’s a bit disheartening, but I know our time is coming.

So, if anyone’s interested, what is the most unique or strange Christmas gift you received this year? Or, what was your favorite thing?

So, if anyone is watching and is interested, what was the most unique or interesting gift you received this year for Christmas? Also, what was you favorite thing? I’ll start. I have been in need of new silverware…I received three different sets. Oh well. My favorite thing would be my brown Lands End boots. LOVE THEM!

Yes, let’s hope for more than ever before. A girl can hope, can’t she, it’s free. Yes, we are more than ready for her. We just can’t wait to hold her in our arms.

Hi Gonnagetkayli,
I had to laugh at some of those songs…the first one is a bit literal!
She actually sings, “we’ve got our passports and our hepatitis shots…”
Too funny!

I’m new to blogging, so I only know the basics. How do you get the tickers on your blog? Is it easy to do for someone who has NO CLUE? I love all the neat things you have around the outside of your blog, but I have no idea how to do them. Can you help?

There’s an in depth discussion on China IA and the new restrictions on The Brian Lehrer Show at:

It runs a good half hour or so. It will be interesting to see what some of you think about some of the comments — especially those by Pete Goodman, the reporter who originally covered the baby-trafficking scandal for The Washigton Post.

You all make me smile, I do hope referrals and sn TA’s are mailed out SOON!! It is 4 in the afternoon here on Friday in Seoul, so I imagine it’s 3 p.m. in Beijing. I wonder if they work till 4 or 5….Hmmmm and then they will be working the weekend, so the vigil continues!
Here’s to a good word from the agencies tomorrow.

Good morning from England. It’s 7.45 AM. Couldn’t sleep so got up early and cleaned out the bathroom cupboards in the interest of making things more baby safe. My husband is pleased with all the housework but getting a bit worried - it is so unlike me.
How do you decide what size clothes to bring for the baby? I know the medicals/weights are done on the babies sometimes several months earlier. It doesn’t seem like there is anyway of knowing what size the baby really is. Since we have such limited luggage space, I don’t want to bring a whole wardrobe in 3 different sizes.

I bought that CD last summer and it does bring out the whole realm of emotions for me.

December 29th, 2006 at 3:22 am
Good morning doggymon,
Where do you live? We live in Kent.
You can estimate size from the childs age. Most babies (but not all) are smaller than European. Our first daughter was 13 months on gotcha day and she was 69 cm tall, like a 6-9 months old baby. If you bring completely wrong size clothes, you can buy anythin in China and much cheaper than in UK.
December 29th, 2006 at 3:32 am
I went to bed and woke up to check. I will check one more time and back to bed.

December 29th, 2006 at 6:42 am
Thanks, Bea. I live in HERTS. So, do we figure sizes 3 months smaller than UK sizes? eg, one year old child in 6-9mths clothes and 18mth old child in 12mths size?

It would be wonderful just to know that referrals were indeed mailed. What a relief knowing for certain - but….there’s been very little mercy delt us this year - we’ll be hanging till the end. Now where is Maria and all our little European friends? They’ve been gone or really silent for weeks & weeks.
December 29th, 2006 at 8:22 am
There is still NO change on the CCAA website…grrrr. Is it just me, or is that Chrsitmas Floaty getting on other people’s nerves too? I am getting more and more edgy as Refferal Day approaches. If I just had some news as to when I would see my baby’s face, I could relax a bit more. But with all these rumors we don’t know if they were mailed yesterday, if they will be mailed today, or if we won’t see anything until the end of next week! **sigh** I probably shouldn’t admit this, but my nerves are shot, and I am feeling like a glass doll that is about to crack. This has been the hardest month I have ever had to go through. First of all, it is Christmas, and everybody is with there family, but one VERY important family member is missing for us. Also, their has been a lot of uncertainty as to when these referrals will arrive. Some people said BEFORE Chrismtas!!!??? I was REALLY hoping that would happen, now I would settle for them to arrive before New Years, but now we see that’s prbably not going to happen either…I just really hope that they arrive soon (obviously) and that they go farther then we ever thought, they better…

Doggymom, yes, I think you will come close. If you are lucky you will recieve an updated medical report before you leave. We didn’t, and we found out that they babies from our orphanage was reported to have exactly the same weight and length - they probably didn’t even have a scale.
December 29th, 2006 at 9:14 am
Familyforbabyfaith:
Yes, the Christmas floaty is getting irritating, however I am on pins and needles also, so maybe it’s just nerves. I am 9/29LID so right on the edge if you consider the polls, but no real chance if you look at the number of days referred historically. It is getting crazy b/c I can do nothing but think about it and continuously check RQ for any info. I am hoping when I call my agency today they can tell me a pkg. was mailed.
So —–anyone know, if they are working through the weekend at CCAA does that mean we could yet see a website change over the next 2-3 days?
Meg
December 29th, 2006 at 9:45 am
mclark35- If they are working over the weekend then I don’t see why they couldn’t change it… I sure hoep they do! I also really hope that you get your referral (along with the rest of September!) SOB!!!!!
December 30th, 2006 at 2:50 pm
If the CCAA is going to stop posting their status on their web page, then who will be able to subscribe? I hope not just the adoption agencies, communication is one of our agencies best assets.
