Does anyone think…

Does anyone think they will change the site tonight? If they don’t then the next chance of it changing would be Wednesday night or Thursday morning.

  1. Pam C Says:

If they’re working tonight (our Saturday night, their Sunday daytime) and they sent the referrals out on Friday, I suppose it’s a possibility since they’re off at least Monday and Tuesday — and maybe Wednesday?

Or they could have someone change it on their Tuesday (our Monday night) if they sent them Friday and expect us to get them Tuesday. If they have access from home, it might not be too much to ask of someone to take a few minutes to do on a holiday.

But if they haven’t sent the referrals out — and can’t until Wednesday (or Thursday if CCAA is closed Wednesday) since DHL’s apparently always closed Saturdays and Sundays in China and is closed this coming Monday and Tuesday for the New Year holiday — they probably won’t change it until the referrals are actually picked up and/or about to be delivered from the way they seem to be doing things lately.

I really don’t know what to think………..but I don’t know if I can handle it if the site doesn’t change tonight. I don’t know how I’ll make it until next Wednesday or Thursday. I just want to see my Zoey’s face…………NOW!

I am hoping!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I will be watching tonight just in case. Wednesday night or Thursday morning seems like eternity.

  4. tryingtobepatient Says:

Isn’t it Sunday morning in China right now? Have they ever in the past changed the site on the weekend? I’m hoping for all of you that it is soon.

I’m giving up. You know what they say, “A watched pot….”

  6. lilbug Says:

tryingtobepatient - they are working tonight so they can have Monday and Tuesday off for the holiday.

  7. reddana Says:

My agency said the soonest we will hear anything is Wednesday. I still check the site every few hours to see if anything has changed. A slow painful self torture.

  8. Rubywren Says:

How long does it take for the referrals to get from China to the agencies ?

  9. tryingtobepatient Says:

    lilbug,
Then if they are working tonight then it is only 8-9a.m. there so that means there is hope!!

  10. sophie_mom Says:

I give up. I’m not even going to get my hopes up that they update their site. CCAA has disappointed me yet again.

  12. roadrunner Says:

I wonder if CCAA is thinking if they don’t send out referrals until the end of next week. Then maybe they can be pretty assured that non of us can travel until after CNY. Maybe it will make life a little less hectic for them. Oh, I hope and pray that that is not the case. I just don’t think I can wait to get our little girl until March. That is just to sad.

  13. snickerdoodle Says:

And I’m also thinking that if this batch doesn’t come out until the end of next week (ish), then they would likely only do one more batch of referrals before CNY, whereas before they’ve done the end of Dec, end of Jan and then that quick batch before CNY.

I’m totally bummed that that might happen. Ick. Why is this getting harder???

  14. laural Says:

4emily: With the same LID as you, I sure hope you are right! Maybe we will be spending next Christmas in China.

Here’s to good thoughts for the new year!

  15. girlzmama2002 Says:

    Oh Snick…

I’m right there witcha sista…. I’m bummed because I figure my referral has now been bumped at least a month…

My agency seems to think that the CCAA will no longer be changing the website. When I asked they said that I will have to now wait to hear from them (agency) when there is an update to give. I sure hope they are wrong on this one! I’ll keep my fingers crossed for you Sept. folks that tonight is the night.

  17. Karenmb Says:

You know what I just thought…just watch, when the site is updated it will say to Sept 28th! It will seem like they matched so much further than before…20 days…knowing that there are many of us logged in on the 29th!

  18. kmc Says:

Our agency told us that we would hear nothing until at least the 4th Jan, I mailed RQ this weeks ago. Stop beating yourselves up. The CCAA stopped working at 12 noon on Saturday so nothing’s going to happen, let it go for the next few days, enjoy the break, for Sept 05 people like ourselves 2007 will be the year, there will be more than likely 2 issues in Jan, on the 4th and around the 28th.

Take the next few days to recover and recharge, it will happen soon, no point burning out.

    Happy 2007.

  19. mclark35 Says:

I am having a very hard time holding on. I asked my DH how he stays so sane and he just says he stays very busy. I tried to do that today and it did help some. I was actually away from the house from 9:30 until about 4:00 so I wasn’t able to run to the computer-not that it mattered since nothing was going to happen this afternoon. I am trying to mellow w/ a glass of chardonnay and tomorrow I will be crazed trying to plan for a New Years Eve party, so hopefully distracted. The problem now is trying to control the dreams which come to me all about China.
My gut is that we will not see a change in the website tonight, but will have to wait until Thurs. to find out they were sent and have arrived or are arriving on Thurs. Not very optimisitic, but pretty realistic, I think.

  20. roadrunner Says:

KMC, What are you thinking is going to happen on the 28th? More referrals or will people be getting ready to travel from the ones who got referrals on the 4th? I also thought the CCAA was going to work this weekend all of Sat. and Sun. so they could take off the beginning of next week.

  21. adventures Says:

My gut says the same thing, no change. I hope I’m wrong, of course.

  22. catherinethegreat Says:

I hate to say it but I think kmc is right. I am of the opinion they won’t change the site at all this month. I was hoping that they would wait to implement those rules, but it seems they were working yesterday, made a minor addition to the site and did not change anything else. I know this does not mean they will never change the LID dates again, its more the fact that some agency’s think they are no longer going to do it. I am still going to hope for SOB.

  23. JerseyGirl Says:

Our agency told us that the CCAA website would no longer be updated. We’ll just have to rely on getting our info from RQ! Wishing you all a very Happy and Healthy New Year, and of course the Sept crew, best of everything on your upcoming referrals!

  24. Neumanium Says:

I don’t think they will bother to change the site now that they have decided to get rid of the box. How are we going to wait until Wednesday?!?

  25. Jill in DE Says:

I don’t know anything first hand, except my girlfriend (I spoke on the phone with her) left for her baby and they (China?? and her agency) changed her plans (after the agency and the family bought plane tickets!! what a nightmare!!) b/c the CA had to be changed… saying that offices (she said CCAA and US Consulate- but I don’t know if CCAA is completely correct??) closed Jan 1-3. YIKES. Originally her CA was on Jan 3rd.. then they changed it to the 4th a few days later.
    I hope that wasn’t confusing?

  26. theups Says:

I just checked the CCAA site and I see that there is a new message for a “fruitful 2006 and hopes for 2007″ from the CCAA director with a new picture on there - but nothing changed on the update box that we all keep watching. Maybe they already did their “updating” and that’s all we get until after the New Year - maybe??

With the advent of the New Year, I would like to, on behalf of the China Center of Adoption Affairs (CCAA), thank leaders of the Ministry of Civil Affairs, related departments and fellow institutes for the concern and care you have given to CCAA, thank all governments of receiving states and adoption organizations for the sincere trust and good cooperation we have received from you, thank all circles of society for your warm support and deep-felt care to the orphans and handicapped children in China. We wish you have a harmoniously life, good health, happy family and good luck in everything in the forthcoming year.

Packing off 2006 which is full of achievements and fruits, we welcome 2007 which is full of hope. The CCAA will continue to follow the principle of “everything for the children”, develop the inter-country adoption work in China towards the direction of being more consistent with international convention, being more reasonable with the reality in China, working harder in accordance with law and regulations and making a better protection of the rights and interests of children and contribute more for the orphans and handicapped children to make sure that they can grow up healthily and happily in the same world and under the same blue sky!

Plus, it ain’t easy my friend so get it done sooner rather than later. I picked Honey I Shrunk the Doll Dresses bedding from landofnod.com and on the wall I have lithographs from Eric Carle. Oh, I also have an antique chandelier that is gorgeous and my mom found it at at yard sale for ONE DOLLAR!

  35. sophie_mom Says:

Adomom12, it’s funny that you mention baby rooms. With a 9/29/05 LID, I finally painted Sophie’s room three days ago. This adoption (our 2nd from China) just doesn’t seem real to me yet. I haven’t (and won’t) put up the crib until we get our referral, it’s like I’m afraid I’ll jinx myself.

Anyway, I painted the room a pale lilac and all the furniture is white. I bought white wooden letters that spell out SOPHIE and will hang those above the crib. The room looks beautiful but until I get our referral and see a photo it’s not real to me.

Sorry to be such a bummer. This adoption is sooo different than our first adoption. Our first adoption we were told would be 14 months and it ended up being only 6 months. It was wonderful. As much as I love RQ and this site, the first adoption was nice because I never got my hopes up from false rumors. Don’t get me wrong, I love RQ. I’m just bummed that this time around the waiting has practically tripled!!

  36. snickerdoodle Says:

My older daughter got the master bedroom when we moved with the thought that #2 would share a room with her. I put the crib up when we moved in. Currently, there are a ton of things in there! From spare stuffed animals, to outgrown clothes to extra baby blankets etc. When I get my referral (???????), I’ll chuck everything out and make it look presentable again. :)

I told dd Sushine yesterday that dd2 was on her way from China at some point in the not-to-distant future. I ordered a “I am the Big Sister” t-shirt from Mandy’s moon.com with both of them printed on the shirt. It was the jumping off point for our discussion. She squealed with delight and jumped into my arms for a hug. She can’t wait to be a big sister!

Regarding decorating the nursery, I thought I’d share a funny….

I painted the nursery on Thursday while dd#1 (age 3) was at preschool. She’s been very excited about becoming a big sister. Anyway, after I brought her home that afternoon I showed her Sophie’s newly painted room, and she exclaimed, “Oh Mama! I’m so proud of you!” My side is still sore from laughing.

Hi Everyone and Happy New Year!

I don’t know how encouraging this is, but last year, if I am not mistaken, referrals were received on Jan. 2. Personally, since it took them so long, I’m hoping that most of September (if not all!) is referred in this batch.

I’m not so sure that the CCAA website will ever change again! As a Feb. 2006 LID’er, we’ve been waiting for ages to come out of review. I think that to have this info coming directly from CCAA (with the new “pay for information” system) is a thing of the past.

With the CCAA referring about 6 months of LID’s in 2006, I am cautiously optimistic that our referral will come in 2007. I sure am tired of waiting!

    Good luck everyone!

I am struggling w/ the nursery. We’re not up and running there either and our lid is 11-17-05. In fact I was showing my parents a bunch of ‘before and after’ pictures that’s on our agency web site and showed them a gotcha day video and now I’m feeling regretful b/c my mom got so excited and weepy- uggg. I’m misrable.

    Adomom12-

About baby rooms, go for it! Do I understand your question? Are you saying should you decorate the baby’s room? If so, you betcha! You should do it for a number of reasons:
#1) You really will get a baby. My baby is 5 1/2 years old and we are waiting for her sister. Again, you really will get a baby.
#2) It is therapeutic! It does make me feel fabulous to really get into it! And we all need a morale boost.
#3) When you are finished, it is a great place to sit and pray or dream or whatever you choose to do. I spent many hours in my daughter’s room before she came and it was very good for me emotionally. Again, it is therapeutic!!

I totally agree with you regarding doing the nursery. I have been working on Mylia’s room for months now and it always makes me feel better when I do something in there. It’s wierd somehow…when I am doing something for her, I feel closer to her somehow. I know that is strange, but I am sure you understand. Except for a changing table, I finished it tonight. Her room is painted a light rose color on the top half of the room and the bottom half is a light green and it has a border in the middle with roses. It is all trimmed in an ivory/cream color. I cut small motifs of roses from the wallpaper border and put them on the closet doors. I finished putting the rose motifs on tonight. Now, all I need is my little Mylia…everything will be complete then.

Please CCAA….come on with those referrals!!!!

did you say you judt told your dd about #2? How old is #1 and how did you avoid telling her for so long? I wish we could have waited to tell ds#1 (ds#2 is too young to get what’s going on) our SW asked #1 how he felt about a sister way back during the homestudy in Aug 05. Every since he has asked when she is coming and despite we try to tell him times far in the future (ie, before you turn 6, etc) we never pick a date far enough into the future due to the insane wait so each marker goes by with no sister. I wish we could have just told him now rather than then.

    Adomom & everyone else-

I guess I am weird, but we did the babies room up for my 30th birthday/DTC to China party LAST October. So with the exception of bookcases, the babies room has been done since Oct 2005.

I LOVE going in there and sitting in the rocker and praying that our baby is okay and that she was left in a safe place, etc. We have the bed, dresser and paintings up on the walls.

  53. snickerdoodle Says:

Hi HikingLorax, part of the reason I didn’t want dd1 (who is 5 3/4) to know is because she’d have to wait for sooooo long (who knew she’d have to wait THAT long!) and partly because she attends kindergarten at my school and I didn’t want to be bugged by a zillion people asking those oh-so-annoying-daily-in-yer-face-questions. No one at work knew about #1 until I was actually in Asia! I left them a note at the sign in desk. Ha. What a hoot! Won’t be able to do that again as now that dd1 knows, she can tell who she pleases at school, and the news will be heard by very eager ears!

I started paperchasing for #2 when #1 was 4 and the social worker just assumed I told her (I hadn’t) and trusted me to “do the right thing” in terms of preparing her, so she never got her opinion (thankfully!). When dd1 and I went to get fingerprinted, the fella at the office asked her if she wanted a brother or a sister, and she replied, cool as a cucumber, that she wanted a brother! Never mentioned it again.

Now, this has been going on almost 2 years now, and I’ve had a zillion conversations, and dd1 is sharp as a tack, so I don’t know what she’s taken in my osmosis LOL but she was just thrilled when I showed her that new t-shirt saying I’m A Big Sister and wanted to put it on right away. (I took that as a good sign!). I was a bit worried because only children get all the attention, and all the glory and all of everything but I was thrilled she was happy about it. Of course, she has no real idea of what it all means, but we have a positive start, and the books I’ve ordered about sisters should be coming any day now.

Now, if I could just be in that before cny-batch (gee, if I write it enough times, d’ya think ccaa might actually send one?).

beleive me we did not wnat to tell ds#1, but sw didn’t give us an option not to. It was funny though he has never said anything negative about the baby- he draws he pictures, picks out presents for her, makes wishes that she was here but when the SW asked him how he felt about having a sister he looked her square in the eye and said “we have enough kids around here already” So that is what she put in the hs. Out of the mouths of babes… we told him we think we will have her picture around his birthday (early June- hopefully that is the conservative estimate) but I wish he was finding out now rather than a year ago- it would have saved us all heartache. (plus little kids don’t have a good sense of time so there ia no reason they need told way before it happens) Here’s hoping you get in the batch before CNY.

Our LID is 11/28, and I’ve almost finished Kaitlyn’s room this week. The only thing left is the window treatment. We were another couple that started our room VERY early, and that caused some bumps in the road, although I’m glad overall that we did. First, the week my mother and I painted and put up the border, dh comes home and announces that he’s looking at a job in another state, so mom and I got to duplicate the room in another house! LOL We didn’t complain, because we moved from 4 hours away from Grandma to 1 hour away! Then, this week, as I got the crib set up, I suddenly decided that the crib set I bought in a fit of excitment right after DTC was NOT what I wanted at all. So I bought another, and I have no idea what I’ll do with the first one. I guess your tastes change in a year. Or maybe I’m just fickle. :-) I do love it now, and I have definitely enjoyed looking at the room this year. It does give me a peace knowing that she WILL be in there eventually!!!

Ok, dh and I just finished watching Little Miss Sunshine. What a cute movie. So many life lessons throughout the whole thing. DH hated it, said it was stupid. Oh well. So, with all the talk about nurseries, I thought I’d pipe in. When we decided to adopt in April 05, we started almost immediately thinking about the nursery. Our room has been finished since Aug. 05. Sometimes it’s hard, but I get a lot of peace of mind by going in there, winding up the mobile and enjoying the rocker. However, we are now desperate for a playroom, because her room has been taken over by toys. DH cannot resist.

  61. shatfiel Says:

Just wondering…our LID is 11/04. In your opinions, when do you think we’ll get a referral and travel? I keep trying to make predictions in my mind, but I don’t think I’m being rational. I’m thinking pics in March and travel May. Is that WISHFUL thinking at this rate?

  62. twOH Says:

still on line? I can’t sleep.

Our large china only agency is saying 11-04-05 will be a March referral! So that’s not wishful, that’s right on! I am in the april batch with a LID of 11-17 and wishful thinking March:o). They say the April referrals will start at 11/11. so you should keep thinking March with no hesitation at this point.

So you have the room done eh? I just can’t bring myself to do it…but with all the feedback that it helps to do it, maybe I should. I just don’t want to stare at an empty room…but maybe it won’t feel like that. What say you?

twOH… hope you are right. With a lid Nov 9, 2005 it will be a huge birthday present for my DH (april 16th). We have to wait the entire translation of all the files before earing ANYTHING from our agencies (and it takes 7 to 10 days).

  64. twOH Says:

I hope so too! I’m feeling the birthday thing…my dh and dad is feb and our anniversary is Mar 1. Mar 5 will be 2 yrs since we were accepted w/ our agency. Mar would be great….and it’s possible if they send through 9-29.

Well, we’ll see…I hope we travel together or your Feb and I’m March:o)

    Good morning from UK,
No change on the ccaa website. I was still hoping and wishing for a new years-gift.
Anyway, happy new year everyone! The champange has been chilled for weeks now, we’ll open it tonight and buy a new one to drink when we recieve our referral.

A friend living in Beijing has let me know that they are experiencing difficulty with email communication at the moment due to disruptions caused after the severing of some of the data and telephone line undersea cables after the Taiwan earthquake. This may also explain why we are not seeing an update???????

  68. doggymom Says:

I heard that the big earthquake in Taiwan affected computer networks all over Asia. It is possible that this earthquake may have slowed things down a bit.

I’m telling myself Jan 8th and then I will be really pleased when we get referrals before that date.

Everybody have a Happy New Year. It is going to be happy.

When I started the process, it was a 6 to 8 month wait. So we started the babies room 3 months into the wait, as we were also adding on a family room and the carpenter, my BIL, does not live near me. We used the thanksgiving and christmas holidays, last year, to get things done thinking that it would be march or apil for referral. Well, 16 months later, we finally got the referral. I made the curtains last week, have to redo one, have trouble with the measure twice, cut once. And I need to finish the bed skirt for the twin bed that is in there. The rest is pretty much done. My daughter is a bit older than I had planned, so she may never sleep in the crib as a crib, and she may not spend much time in the stroller I got last february, but it made me happy to buy the crib and the stroller. It will all work out, I am keeping the faith. I hope to hear about CA this week.

Oh yeah, the room is white walls, trim, and shutters, with a blue ceiling, a flowery chandelier, a dresser that was used as “baby” dresser for my sister and me, as well as my best friends two babies. The twin bed and another dresser were made by my great grandfather for my mom’s 3rd birthday.
The inside of the closet is pink. There are letters spelling out Audrey’s name that my sister made over the creek, and my best friend and god daughter helped me make the crib bedskirt out of tulle left from my sisters wedding. It is a very soft, quiet room. I also have my grand mothers rocking chair.

I love the room and hope that Audrey does too, it should be able to grow with her as well.

Happy New Year to all of you.

    adomom12,

I remember doing the same thing…walking by the future nursery but not having the guts to start it. I just *knew* we were cursed and wouldn’t be getting a baby from China. Two months before our expected referral (back when they came once a month, full months at a time) I swallowed my fear and we put the nursery together. We had a wonderful time doing it, but in the back of my mind I was still so afraid.

Well, two months later we received our precious referral (after just waiting 5.5 months, can you believe it?) and I nearly fainted with relief. It WILL happen for your, too, just keep the faith.

So go ahead and start on that nursery whenever you’re comfortable doing so. And, if you’re like me, when it’s finished you’ll go in there every day trying to imagine a precious little baby in it.

Luckymama2one - should be DTC in just a few weeks
