Grandfathered

I am told that the CCAA verified to another country, in writing, that the new rules will not be applicable to applications prior to May 1, 2007.

Most of the big agencies have been saying this pretty vocally, so this just verifies what we’ve already known, but it is still nice to hear it again.

Most of the big agencies are also saying that you must be logged in by May 1st in order to be okay under the old rules. A few agencies are saying that China must receive it before May 1st. I’m leaning towards believing that you must be logged in by then, as most agencies are saying this, and I’m pretty sure that all of the big agencies are saying it.

Thanks for that information. The more times I hear it the more confident I feel it is a fact.

    Thanks RQ!

My agency stated the same, logged in by May 1. They stated it came from the official rules change from the CCAA.

That is great to hear that it is finally in writing. I am still nervous that “qualified under the new rules applicants” will be given preferential treatment over myself (a “nonqualified” under the new rules.) Hopefully that isnt the case.

I just wish I could get through the review room (LID 8-8-06) Any thoughts on this!

Some that would not qualify under the new rules were in this recent group, and their baby’s are precious and young and some are precious and older…I thought this groups looked like the rest and couldn’t pick out special treatment comparitively.

History has shown CCAA does a good job matching and they think they do good job too - I think they’ll want to keep that reputation. That’s just me talking though….

I understand why that’s lingering in your mind…it’s bothered me off and on too. I dont’ think it matters if we give birth or adopt, the fears are the same. We hope for healthy well adjusted children. It will be ok…taking it one day at a time….

WHEW! I mean, we knew it, but getting it in writing just is such a big load off my shoulders. Thanks for sharing the news!!

What a good way to start my weekend!!

Why doesn’t an organization like the Joint Council on International Children’s Services officially request in writing, on behalf of all adoption agencies and waiting families, that the new rules will not be applicable for applications prior to May 2007. This would be a great service and put a lot of families at ease. It seems inconsistent that some agencies/countries would get a written clarification but others would not.

1 word for this post–WHEW! Maybe I’ll sleep better tonight!

I have the letter from CCAA to my agency. (in english)
Do you want it as a PDF, RQ?

  11. waitinginPA Says:

Lotte…..I think the letter from the CCAA to your agency would be great to post here as a PDF. Can that be done, RQ?

  12. firemutt Says:

Our agency origanly thought new rules would be coming Jan 1 and assisted us in speeding up our paperchase. They said we needed to be LID prior to new rules taking affect. We were relieved once we heard the rules were not taking affect in January. They are still are saying you must be LID before May 1.

I would love to see the copy of the letter from the CCAA confirming the already logged in as grandfathered in. I know my agency has stated we would be, but it would a big relief for ME personally to see something in writing from the CCAA itself.

I assume, however, that RQ would have to decline putting on here because of it naming an agency. Just my 2 cents for what it is worth. I hope I am wrong in my assumption!

If it cannot be PDF to the RQ site, would it be possible to email me a copy? Thanks so much.

It’s good to hear that, a great reassurance but I will only believe that this will definitely happen when I’m home with my baby.
