thanks aicram…I’ve hopped on here a time or two since being back (mostly when the little chickee la-la is napping or sleeping for the night LOL) to see what’s been going on and to throw out some things. Every once in awhile I “have an idea forming in me brain”. hehe

it does really bother me abit to see that things aren’t necessarily getting any easier or better for everyone. seems like there’s been lots going on and lots of un-needed incorrect attention being drawn to the IA community. But, like everything else…it’s always hard to see what lies down the road and what may happen.

I also live in the country being discussed. Our leading govt dept contacted CCAA specifically on this issue after it had been raised as something that was not clear by our support groups. The question presented to CCAA was quite direct: does the May 1 date refer to applications logged in or received by CCAA. The response was equally as direct – ‘received by’. It’s been made clear to us that this doesn’t mean you can deliver your dossier to the relevant govt depts here late April and expect they will get to CCAA by May 1 and in fact I think all of our state depts are no longer accepting new applications from people who appear to be disqualified by the new ‘guidelines’. And as has previously been mentioned our processes are so slow here there will be many, many people who are quite a way into the process who will not be able to continue. I don’t blame the US agencies for being extra cautious about the LID issue. There is a lot of heartbreak here already.

My agency has said that you must get your dossier turned in to them by April 20th to make the May 1st deadline. They also stated that they would no longer accept applications from anyone affected by the new guidelines, as it would be tough to meet the April 20th deadline if you were just starting the paperchase.

I live in the country which the CCAA told about the received date being May1. My theory is that it was the CCAA’s intention that the May 1 date would accommodate those people already in the process of submitting their dossier but not allow too many new people to start the process. It was therefore in their interest to be deliberately vague about logged in vs submission at first. As time has passed it is now virtually impossible for anyone in America to make it if they started fresh now so they can be more upfront. Moreover the CCAA is well aware that in my country it takes about a year for an application to make it through the processing/ dossier preparation process and that many people in the middle of home studies will still not make it even with a May 1 submission date.

just my 7.74 Yuan per dollar opinion here, but if I were paperchasing I’d get my shtuff to the agency and sent over to get a LID before May 1st.
The CCAA stated the first of May and I have a feeling they’re referring to LID.
I think back to when we finished paperchasing. I turned our dossier in to our agency on 7/11/05, they checked, translated, etc and sent it to the CCAA who received it like the the 25th or 26th of July. Our LID was 8.10.05. Others who also had their dossier sent over around that time ended up with late August LIDs…
If I were paperchasing and got my paperwork over right before May 1st and didn’t get LID until after and was affected by the changes, I’d be p*ssed. I’m betting on it being LID before 5.1.07 is what they’re looking at. Just a gut feeling.

Of course, sometimes burritos give me a gut feeling….not so much a good thing. LOL

My agency has also said RECEIVED by May 1st. I’m really hoping this is the case.

As if this wasn’t stressful enough! I feel for the families trying to get in before the deadline. I really hope the adoption stars line of for them in a perfect row so theat there are not any broken hearts. I am really pulling for everyone in this situation.

Could it be that CCAA is planning on logging in all the dossiers in their possession with a 5/1 LID so long as they have them that day? Maybe that’s where the confusion is coming from. Perhaps CCAA has told them they will be doing this. Not sure, just guessing. I think my agency has told people they need to have your dossier by 4/1 just to make sure. Egads! how stressful for those trying to beat the clock.
