Monday morning in China

It’s 7:15 Monday morning. The CCAA workers are probably on their way to work, or perhaps eating breakfast.

Are the matches almost done? How long will it take for the director to sign them? Will they be mailed out before they leave the office today? Or will it still be another few days?

If only we knew. But we don’t. So, we wait.

Tis the truth isn’t it! So, RQ, I’ve been wondering if you actually received your referral or if you are still waiting? Don’t know if you shared this info already or not or wish not to share, but I’m curious. :-)

This is the most difficult time of the month… who is in? who didn’t make it? how many days are included? I am so glad to have finished our trek three weeks ago! I don’t know if my heart could have taken it much longer.

Best wishes to all still waiting!

Our LID is 9/30/05, so we are really excited that our over two year wait is almost over…at least until we know who she is, where she is, what she looks like. I really hope we get some tangible information by the end of the week. That would be grand. Hang in there, everyone, its gotta be soon.

    best;

Has anyone reapplied for their I-600A? What a confusing process!!! I don’t know my head from my “you know where” at this point!!!

We had to reapply and now we are sweating it out hoping it arrives soon as we should be “in” for this batch! funny that uscis was my spam word for this post. hmmm…

Sumay - I’m right there along with you. I’m anxiously waiting to see how far this batch goes into October to see where that puts us! Good luck to everyone waiting to see those faces for the very first time!

we have reappplied and finally got the renewed i-171-h back just last week, what a useless waste of time and money. it cost about $1200 to say nothing had changed, but rules are rules and now i am finished with that and just wait again, but hopefully not for long

Come on CCAA YOU CAN DO IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  14. ken Says:

jj2china: we are lid 4/20/06….so when do you think we’ll get a referral…I’m thinking April 08!

  15. hedge Says:

Adomom - that book was the first book we bought for our child-to-be - its adorable.

We are also in the process of renewing our I-171H. Our homestudy is scheduled for 2/20 and our I-171H expires 4/19. We have an 11/28 LID, so I would guess a May/June referral. Is it okay if it expires, as long as it is current when your referral comes?

  16. Elaine Says:

Come on CCAA. Let’s kick out most of October.
RQ and the late September / early October LIDs, you will be looking at those sweet baby faces in a matter of days. I am so happy for you. Congrats to all of you in advance. Post those pics! I am counting the days until March referrals…….

Also they can info on what to bring and what can be purchased in China? That would be great info! come on matching room, drink you tea or coffee and start stuffing those DHL envelopeS

  19. jryle0514 Says:

OH, RQ can we add a section where people who have done this before can add what they think we should bring with us, what not to bring as we can get it there…Maybe even other info, how much did they spend in China outside of the adoption costsect…I was told to get rid of Petunia Pickle Bottom ang go with a Lands End backpack diaper bag…So many things I dont know what to do! BTW–as a Nov 2 LID—for all of you with me, MARCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It has to be!

  22. waitinforchinadoll Says:

    Dear Hedge:

Have you contacted your local CIS office & spoken to the person in charge of international adoptions? That might ease your mind, and at this point in our L–O–N–G wait, I believe that anything that helps ease our minds is a good thing!! :-)

But — one thing I’ve learned through this process is that not all CIS offices operate the same. (Can anyone explain that?????) As an example, one of my coworkers is adopting her second from China, and the fingerprinting process at her CIS office in an adjoining state is different than mine.

My CIS approval expires Jan. 27. I got refingerprinted Dec. 27 & my updated home study got sent the 2nd week of Jan. Approval was held up for a couple days because CIS didn’t have a copy of the original home study; apparently, they check the differences between the two even though my social worker specifically stated that almost everything was exactly the same….Anyway, I called int’l adoption coordinator at my state’s CIS office, who explained that renewals don’t take very long to do. She also said that you’re okay with your original CIS approval expiring as long as you’re in process with getting it updated at that time.

So — I think you’re alright, but again, there’s something to be said for piece of mind, particularly right now, so you might want to call.

Good luck. You know we’re here for you if you need anything!

  23. woopig Says:

Ziggy, as RQ hasn’t responded to any of these questions, my guess is that she’s simply not going to answer any of them. I’m sure it will help her keep her secret identity secret. Someone asked her how she kept everything straight, and I had a vision of her in front of equipment like Will Smith’s in Hitch. Ok, I saw her back and I knew it was her b/c of the tiara, LOL.

  24. lily2WI Says:

We were told by our agency to go ahead and renew our 1-600A and fingerprints. We renewed our fingerprints in Nov and our I-600A was sent in to the USCIS on Jan 3, 2007. We received our I-171H on Jan 23. We were told it was running about 90 days, but were pleasantly surprised when it was returned in 3 weeks. We are patiently waiting referrals and know that our time is coming soon. In March it will be 2 years since we began the process of adoption. We know that it will all be worth while, but the wait is so tough, almost over…

Ladybug sighting!!! This afternoon I was out trimming my palm tree and there was a ladybug on one of the branches!!!! It made my day! I’m out here in Northern California and it has been very dry and VERY cold (for us that is) in the 20’s at night. So, I was surprised to see a little ladybug!
Woopig - I agree! Love your vision. I know she wasn’t going to tell us her exact LID, but I thought there might be a chance she would tell us if she is still waiting or not. I don’t think she is around right now as she hasn’t made any postings - at least on this thread.

The woman writing for the Chicago Tribune is my sister, Kelly, adopting her first child as we speak. Her LID was 9/5/05. She received the referral in November. Trust me, she was granted no shortcuts. Her wait was long and painful, just like ours. The link for her blog is http://www.chicagotribune.com/adoption.

Hoping to hear news of my baby in this upcoming batch.

I had a dream last night that we received our referral. Our daughter’s referral picture was so beautiful, she took my breath away! Sweet, chubby baby cheeks. Her trimmed hair was a mess all over her head. A little disheveled looking but just beautiful.

I have been longing for this day for so long.

Good luck to all of you next….

  37. Sumay Says:

It seems to me that Blossombaby thinks we should all be very patient and not vocalize our anticipation for a referral. None of us urged the CCAA on directly, have we? We express ourselves and our opinions on the boards to convey excitement, frustration and other emotions as an outlet while we wait. Am I wrong about this Blossombaby?

  38. adomom12 Says:

It is not directed at the CCAA. I think we are all just speaking from the heart and wanting to see our daughters. We are waiting patiently but also eagerly and that is not wrong. Our urging is only to give a child a home and is not meant to be selfish. Watch out and don’t fall from your high horse Blossombaby, your are reading this site too!!!

OK Ya’ll …..time for Ohmmmmmm Ohmmmmmm Ohmmmmmm, Even if we don’t post our urges, I bet over 90% are trully wanting to.
I am sure that the urges that have been posted are meant with no disrespect to the CCAA.
Surely they would be aware of the emotional pains at this time of each month prior to referrals being sent out.

  40. ken Says:

There’s a new story posted on the CCAA website dated 1/29/07…can anyone translate?

    Hi RQ,
I wonder if you or anyone else can help me.

We have our pack ready to be sent to China nd at the very last minute our Adopton Board siad they believe ALL dossiers in China on May 1st will be included under the new rules, that is the way they interpret the rules, I explained to them that everyone else thinks otherwise that we will be exemppt if CCAA has our document s before May 1st. They have written posted by Fedex to CCAA and dont expent an answer for mor e than a month, this will certainly be too late for us as we will not make the new rules.

I need the wording of the answer if anyone has made this query, I do have the original wording from the CCAA but it is this specific question I need an answer to . IF anyone could help me I would be so grateful, Many thanks.

  43. sophie_mom Says:

Hmmmm……my agency takes one day to translate the referrals before calling us. So if referrals are mailed today (Monday) and our agency receives them on Friday, does that mean we have to wait until next week to get the call?

Anyone else with my agency (large, China-only, based out of Colorado) have any ideas?

  44. familyforFaith Says:

I have a question regarding CNY. I seem to remember reading that when there is a holiday in China that the workers work weekends before and after to make up for the time they will be off. Anyone know from the past how long CCAA will be closed ? We are LID 10-19-05 I know this next batch is not ours but I am 99% sure we are in the next one (which I expect the second week of March) I just wonder how behind they will be due to CNY? anyone willing to take a guess at this?

  45. mclark35 Says:

    sophie_mom
Same agency here. However, if China mails them Mon. I think our agency will have them Wed. which means we will get the calls w/i 24 hours from when they get them. So, if they arrive at the agency Wed. morning, we should have them sometime Thurs. If they come Wed. afternoon, maybe not until Fri. am.
Someone correct me if I am wrong, but I am pretty sure.

I imagine that we have the same agency. Our agency has always told me that when they receive referrals, they work for the next 24 hrs. translating and organizing. Our social worker has said that they work to get those referrals into the hands of waiting parents even on holidays and weekends!

adomom12, we have a 12/5/05 LID as well. Within the next month we will be re-doing our I-600a. Our agency told us that we would have to re-do the whole thing completely. We’ve already renewed our fingerprints. The only good thing about this process is that it gives us something to do while we wait . . . and wait . . . time goes by much faster when you are busy!!!

2girlsfromChina — We have been following Kelly’s story each Sunday she has been in the paper. In fact, the “‘Q” section is the first one I pull out when the paper arrives. I sent her a couple of emails, which she very graciously responded to right away. It has been wonderful to follow her journey, which has kept me believing it will happen too for us! One of her quotes I have taped to the top of my computer screen: “Regardless of the wait, some journeys require unwavering faith”. So true! It is great to read her blogs, and feel her excitement. How great for you and your whole family to also be sharing the same journey with each other!
Jryle0514 — I see you are from Chicago! We are out in the western suburbs, and have a LID of 11/07/05. We just may cross paths! (GO BEARS!)

We just re-filed our I-600A. We have a LID of 11/7/05, and our 171 was going to expire in March. Our fingerprints were redone in October, and our home study was updated over the summer. Just copies of our vital records, and more $$$, went with the form and that was it. It seemed pretty simple, and we hope for a quick turnaround from our USCIS office. We still have time, though.

  51. waiting2bmommy Says:
