Nothing yetI’ve made my morning rounds and I don’t see anything new. Hopefully we will see something today that points us in the right direction. But everyone should be aware that it may still be a few days before that happens. If they don’t mail them until Friday it could be another week. Still, I’m hopeful we’ll know something before then.

Same here. LID 9/29 so we are greatly anticipating good news, and very much hope it is this week. IMy wife and I are officially in neurotic mode this week. But between work and my wife having given me enough chores to do to, it will keep me busy and keep my mind of checking the web sites every 3.5 seconds :)

I’ve wondered that too, Kim. It seems unusually quiet given the flurry of rumors last Wednesday. I don’t recall this happening in the past, but maybe it’s because the stakes weren’t so high for me then, LOL?
Wouldn’t it be great if some agency at least revealed today that a package had been mailed? But I’d settle for some good rumors too.

Hi Everyone!
I finally made it to the White Swan. I wanted to post two things.
First of all, I want to express my profound gratitude to the RQ community these last 9 months. I would have lost my mond without all of you. You have offered me strength, hope, wisdom and a sounding board when I needed it. It is amazing the community that exists here. Thank you to you all. As a single, I am all the more aware that this is it for me. I will be forever grateful to you RQ for taking the time to start this website and for the unbelievable effort and time you put in to maintain it. THANKS!!!!
Secondly, are there any of my RQ friends here at the White Swan right now? If so, please contact me. There is a link on my website. I would love to meet face to face. I will be here until VERY early on Thursday.

Isabel is beautiful! I completely agree with your sentiment towards RQ. I can not imagine having a family and a job and keeping up with all the information she must sift through to keep this site going. I wish we could transfer part of what we are paying our agency to half the sky on her behalf. She has done so much more for us than they have in the information arena!

Patient Grandma here. Ready to burst though. Its been a LONG few weeks and I feel like a little child waiting for the ultimate gift at Christmas I can hardly contain myself. LOL
I cant wait to see and hear all about my wonderful, beautiful new little granddaughter!!!!!!!!oh, the anticipation, its giving me gray hairs!!!!! Will she have lots of nice dark hair! I know she will be beautiful (all children are :)!!!!!!!!! I cant wait to see her pic and find out her province and hold her!!!!! and make her laugh !!!!!!and show her how much I already love her!!!!!……. I am wearing my lucky jade bracelet in anticipation and prob. will never take it off again in honor of our baby from afar. This might be it!!!!! It might be the week, or the day we finally hear from our stork from afar!!!! Its been a very LONG month waiting and anticipating. I think my hair might be turning grey like a true grandma! Its been a very long eventful two plus years and I am so excited to see it coming to an end and soon we will have our cute little granddaughter home in her mothers arms. How sweet. I cant wait to see and hold her and make her laugh and show her all the wonderful things in this world. I wonder how she will look, will she have lots of hair? enough for a small bow? Where is she? what province? Is she happy and smiling this very minute? I hope so, I know she will be very soon! Hope we hear soon so I can quit pulling grey hairs out. lol wearing lucky jade bangle and probably will never take it off in honor of our new family member from afar, and rubbing it every so often for good luck!!!! godspeed all 9/29ers

Kinda off-topic, but I remember someone saying that the White Swan will be closed sometime in the next few months for renovation. Anyone know anything about this?
I hope this was just a rumor. But, we’ve had everything else go wrong with this adoption, so this would just be the last straw.
Come on, referrals!! Brighten my cold (10 degrees!) Monday morning!!

I haven’t heard that the Swan would be closed, but even if it is, there are a couple of other choices for hotels in Guangzhou. If the Swan does close, it shouldn’t affect your timeline at all. :)

The White Swan was planning a renovation for late 2006, but that has been pushed back and will begin after CNY in 2007. The hotel will not be closed while this is going on, they will renovate sections at a time.

Has it ever been this quiet before and then referrals just show up? I’ve done fine until this morning. I popped out of bed and ran straight for the computer to see if there was any news. My dh said in his very sleepy voice “any news yet”. LOL…he’s got the RQ fever :)

Dear RQ watchers (and one patient grandmother, too):
I’ve read on various email lists the last couple of weeks that others are having a hard time concentrating on work. Who else is having that problem today?
I logged onto RQ twice this morning. Just a couple mins. ago, I had to do some online research, and guess what??? I logged onto RQ for the THIRD TIME this morning, just in case I missed something!!! I hope my manager doesn’t find out. I have a really long “to-do” list of work-related items.
The nerve of work interfering with adoption hormones!!!
If things are like this on Monday morning, I can’t imagine how much of a wreck I’ll be by Thursday if we haven’t heard anything….
Anxiously waiting like everyone else….

SophieMom – I thought the same thing about the White Swan, until I heard that one of the other hotels, still on the island, had potable water taps in the room. Imagine, making bottles without have to boil water, or ask for a new pot!

RQ and fellow RQ Loyalists,
Last Wednesday was my 40th b-day, and I received my best present from this site when RQ posted an R4 to the 11th. I’m prayful that the R4 still stands regarding that date. And can’t wait to hear something regarding referral arrivals.
Tomorrow I start jury duty. Can you believe it? I, who am constantly on the RQ (my husband and I own our own business – no boss to worry about) is now going to have to go “cold turkey” starting tomorrow. I’m not even allowed to take my cell phone into the courthouse building b/c it is a camera phone. How will I survive w/out you all. You can bet I will be going to my car on breaks, calling my husband (who is now a RQ junkie as well) to find out what is going on. Here’s hoping it’s a 2 day trial.
Can you believe it’s the Super Bowl this weekend. It is this weekend isn’t it???? Our family must think we’re clueless. We have completely forgotten – and our nephew is playing. Go BEARS!! I have baby-head big time.

Happy birthday. I was on jury duty the past two weeks! Must be something in the air. I loved being on jury duty (something you rarely hear) and was selected for two criminal cases. It was very interesting, but luckily I knew refererrrals weren’t coming out at that time. Poor you!
I can’t get any work done today. I’ve checked this site at least 5 times today and it’s not even noon!

Aren’t referrals typically mailed out the Thursday before the Lunar New Year/Spring Festival break starts?? Many people take Friday off to beat the weekend rush to travel home for the week long government holiday (two weeks non-government). If memory serves me right, for the last couple of years referrals have been mailed out on the Thursday before the holiday — cleaning house/finishing up projects is an important part of the holiday preparations. If I’m right on this… that means (please don’t shoot me!) referrals won’t be mailed for another three days…

RQ – I can’t make the PM thingie work.
My agency update today says “matching has begun” and they expect them to be sent the first week in Feb.
Not sure if they mean this week or not, so this probably isn’t helpful. They gave no indication of dates included.

I hope you don’t mind that I hope you are wrong. :O) I do think you are and this is why. In the last couple of years, the batch that came out just prior to CNY was the “extra” batch. I think we’ll see Feb referrals on time. Hopefully that will be this week, though next week would still fall into the window. I don’t think we’ll see the “extra” batch this year because CNY comes too quickly afterwards.
I have nothing to base this one but my own thoughts.

For those concerned….The China Hotel (a Marriott) is a very nice option in Guanzhou. If you like peace and quiet, lovely rooms, and it’s an easy 5 minute , $1.50, taxi ride to the White Swan area. We will be staying there again with this adoption even though the rest of our group will stay at the W.S.

Just looked at CCAA to see the note posted and see if I could translate t. You can do so using Babelfish. It looks to be about the donations from some countries and what they are being used for in the orphanages, but I can not be sure. That’s about all it talks about tho’.

My friend’s agency in NJ said she shouldn’t expect referral to be mailed this week… :( :(

We are hoping that they are just trying to keep her from calling them repeatedly and just wanted to get her off their back!

Yes, it HAS been this quiet before and then referrals just showed up – it happened back in August when we received our referral – there were NO rumors, and then on August 24, someone posted to the July Yahoo group that they got the referral call! I had been so bummed waiting and hearing nothing and our referral had already been mailed. Hang in there guys…it will happen and all this yucky waiting stuff really does fade away (although if someone told me that when we were on the verge of referral, I may have flipped them off).

cellule, thanks anyway. since you have access to the french boards perhaps you can keep an eye on things for us… seems like they know things way before we do!! how is that???? anyway… i’m just taking a deep breath and remembering what someone posted earlier… we are into the “days” wait, not “months” or even “weeks”… which is a huge relief when you think about it. we will go ahead and go for our getaway weekend and enjoy the time there – if nothing else, we will have something joyful to anticipate once we get home on Sun… but i’m going to go crazy if it’s not until the following Fri! oh my goodness… someone got some paxil out there?? haha

lovemygirls… you are RIGHT! i forgot about that… so my intuition of “they could still show up tomorrow” isn’t totally off base! i did run to w-mart and grabbed our new tape for the camcorder – which will be totally designated to THE CALL and our trip to China…- now we feel prepared…. is that what the CCAA was waiting on?? :-) hang in there all you guys that are next… our moment is just around the corner!!! :-)

Hey all,
You could all be surprised by your referrals like our group was. RQ hadn’t heard anything at all, then BOOM! One person after the next started posting that they knew someone who had gotten their referral. No notice, no rumors, it was panemonium! I called my agency and they hadn’t heard a word, and didn’t really believe that other agencies had been getting referrals. But the next day (August 25) we received ours as well. What a crazy time!
We’ve been home for 2 1/2 months now, and I can tell you with 100% certainty that the moment you receive that call, you will completely forget all of the angst and pressure of the wait. It simply disappears.
Of course, then a new wait begins….one for TA (which, for us, was NINE long weeks due to Trade Fair (stupid Trade Fair).
We’re pulling for a huge batch of referrals this week!

This is the first time I’ve checked since early this morning, I can’t believe there’s nothing new! I went to Target today and they have so much on clearance I just had to buy something. Two pairs of tights .74 a piece, a pkg of 6 socks for 1.98, and a pink hooded baby towel for 2.78. I thought for sure that when I got home there would be some news on when referrals would be coming. I know it’s nice that we can now say we are only waiting days, but I’m not sure how many more days I can take of this!

the reason Europe seems to know something before us is because they are farther along in each day than we are – time zones. It’s not that they have some kind of inside track, they just start their business day and receive DHL shipments while we are still sleeping.

When I talked to my agency this morning they almost sounded giddy but didn’t give me any clue other then “we’ll be talking in a couple days”.
DAYS —NOT weeks or months
I’m only looking forward and not counting up or down —just closer every second.
(But I will say that my heart is beating like a race horse and my stomach is a pit of acid!)

I’m not trying to give anyone false hope–but I took it as they will be receiving “the package” in a couple days. With the translation situation at our agency I wouldn’t be surprised if we didn’t get the call until next Monday.
Anyone else got something better?

granolagirl!!!!!! oH MY GOSH! your agency is AWESOME DUDE! :-) the sound of our agency today was a bit on the conservative side but definitely had a lean towards this week, too…. which is why i’m still counting on this week…. oooooh, this is gettin’ GOOOOOOD!!!! :-) yeehaw!

We are just 2 months into the waiting stage. But whenever there is a little birdie flying around I always try to get ahold of our agency to see if there is any news they can tell us. I got ahold of them today and she said to keep our eyes open this week there could be a stork landing. Good luck to everyone.

Just checked out your website to figure your agency-same as ours. However, I must have got the conservative gal in “child match” as she was giving NOTHING away-so frustrating. I am trying to believe this could be true. If they were mailed today or tomorrow then we will hear this week, but if not we won’t see our darling’s faces til next week. UGH!

I hope they still give me my referral after I squealed on what they said ;)
They are really conservative but have been saying for a while that they expect referrals to be mailed by the end of the month—that is Wed. and only a COUPLE days away!!!! SO I think ANYONE could read between those lines —right?
I have not sat down all afternoon for fear that time will stand still—I’m typing w/ pc on kitchen counter.
I think my ankles are going to feel splendid tonight—I think I better let myself sit down, knit and watch some Stargate re-runs LOL :)

granolagirl, you are too funny. i hope you are easily distracted tonight, cause to be honest since i read your post, my nerves just got all antsy on me again!! i have imagined the referrals being announced on the 30th or 31st ever since we knew we were next but to know we are only a day or two away is just crazy but wonderful!!!! do you think they said, “we’ll be talking in a couple of days.” very nonchalantly? Like, “yada yada yada, l need to get off the phone…” or was it “giddy” like? i think everyone on here pretty much can attest to having a “conservative” agency so i’m wondering if this was truly a little bit of insight freely given??? oh i know i’m overanalyzing… but you know your agency best! soooooooo…….??????? (can you tell i need a distraction tonight?? haha)

This is the first time I have logged on. In the past I was too afraid! Our LID is 10-11-2005 and I have been pretty anxious to see what happens this next week. I really hope that this is our time. Our agency has been tight lipped about when the referrals will arrive….however they did provide us with a good chance of havng 10-11 in this batch. Glad to see some people are still up :)

Spent the weekend in Sedona, Arizona. Incredible place! Was constantly on the move so am a bit tired but, of course, had to see of there was news!
Crossing everything that packets are mailed this week so referrals are received early next week!

We leave Thursday for China and boy would I love to hear the arrival of this month’s referrals before we leave. I am really rooting for all of you in this next batch and I pray for more days than last month! A new phrase??? Double the Days!!!! (DTD)

One of my little ways to pass the time is to think about what time it is in China now. Are they working on paperwork? Is everyone just getting up? Is our daughter going to bed about now? One way I do this is to look up a “Grayline map.” Ham Radio operators (like me) use them for a variety of reasons. Look one up here if you want to see where its daylight and where its night:

I know the agencies know a lot more than they share because mine told me that our liason in China actually gets our referrals a few days BEFORE CCAA mails them to translate. They told me she cannot always do this but usually. So… they know when they are coming. They just pretend not to know.

Our dsl connection keeps going down and that is about to put me over the edge. I’ve waited two years and now I’m having connection problems! I had to control myself last night and not scream at the IT person. Please come referrals before I lose it!!!
