This batch, and closing the poll

I have reports of some people not receiving their referrals who had a LID prior to 10/13 and who were not asked questions in the review room.

I also have reports of some 10/15 people who did receive their referral in this batch.

I don’t believe there were more than a dozen people affected by this, so it’s not a widespread thing, but still a big deal for those involved.

I have closed the poll and removed postings from the same IP. There were a lot to remove this time, and I’ve banned the people who were obviously maliciously voting. You can see the poll results on the Poll Results page which you can always get back to from the link in the Site Navigation section in the top right of this page. I do not plan to run another poll this month.

To all of the families who received your referral, I’d like to say a HUGE congratulations to you. And to those who have shared your blogs with us, thank you so much.

While shopping for baby clothes I saw an elderly woman – very society type with everything perfect and that face that makes you wonder if she ever smiles anything other than the fake society lady smile. She arrived at the clothes rack and pulled a newborn sized beautiful little dress out and her face melted into a true smile. Baby clothes are just magical, aren’t they?

I know many of you are curious about my referral. I’ve not said anything about what day it arrived or will arrive because I am trying to keep my anonymity. Also, I’ve received various emails over the past year plus from people who have been accused of being me. The more specific information I give about myself, the more people who get wrongly accused of being me. And for some of those people it really bothers them, especially those who have “anti RQ” agencies. So, please understand that I’m just not at a point where I can talk about that yet.

    RQ–

I am going to assume that since you are shopping for babt clothes, your referral arrived or is arriving–congratulations! I know you’ve waited a long time. Your daughter must be so excited to be a big sister.

Good luck, and thanks for everything.

  2. gonnagetkayli Says:

Rumor Queen, I totally understand your reason for keeping your anonymity. I would just like to say that whether past, present, or future, congratulations on your baby!! You have done such a wonderful thing for the IA community and the least that we can do is respect your wishes for your privacy. Many blessings to you and your loved ones!!

    RQ-

You do so much for those of us still waiting, so I can’t imagine anyone being upset because you want to keep your identity a secret. If you have received your referral, then congrats! If not, then we’re right there with you. Again, thank you for offering those of us still waiting a safe place to get together and chat. You will never know how much this site means to so many people. Thank you.

Thank you for posting the poll results….can see the changes with the bogus entries out. When will you do a poll for Dec/Jan as I am curious to see if the number of LID is less? Always hoping the number is less.

I don’t care to know your identity but I wish there was a way we could do something for you after all you have done for us. I wish I could send you the most wonderful outfit for your daughter. Any ideas?

Thanks again! Hope your travel plans come together quickly and you have the trip of a life time. I know I treasure the day we go back for our second adoption from China.

  5. kelle Says:

I was just wondering if you would be posting the good and bad case sceneio anytime soon. There’s no rush but I have to admit am very curious to see what the outcomes will be.

Thanks so much for ALL your hard work. It’s so great you do this for all of us waiting for our referrals.

    Thanks again,

Baby clothes are the best! They make me melt like a puddle on the floor. I owrld have to say that I definately have my favorites! Gymboree, Janie and Jack, and Ragsland are my new addiction! :) I could spend $1,000 just on the Gymobree website!

  7. Interestedlurker Says:

    Rumor Queen,
I heard Kevin Bacon talk about this yesterday. I was wondering if this something you would consider doing…I know you already support Half the Sky, which had a huge, positive impact — I believe — on my daughter’s life. Maybe if you created and posted a badge, and let others use your badge {post it on their blogs}, we could increase the money donated to HTS. This is the info on their website:

How to get $10,000 for your charity?

http://www.SixDegrees.org is social networking with a social conscience. Through this web site, you can learn about and support the charities of celebrities and your friends, as well as fundraise for the causes close to your heart.

By creating a Six Degrees Charity Badge you have an opportunity to raise even more money for your favorite cause! Your charity(ies) could receive a matching grant of up to $10,000. The six badges that have the most number of donations between January 18th and March 31st at 11:59pm ET will get a matching grant from Kevin Bacon. Multiple donations from a single individual to the same Six Degrees Charity Badge will only be counted once.

The process is easy; all you have to do is created a Six Degrees Charity Badge and you will automatically be eligible to receive the matching grant. Once you have created your badge, post it online or send a link to it (sample) via email to your family and friends so that they can help to support your effort.

    Hi RQ -

I would also like to offer my sincere congratulations on your referral! I know that you must be relieved that the long wait is over for your family and you can now begin to prepare for your trip to complete your adoption! I can certainly understand the need for you to keep yourself anonymous, and I hope that others will do the same.

I was curious to know if you would be crunching any numbers on this latest poll. I can’t begin to imagine how busy you must be at this time. Seems to me like this was a pretty small batch, considering that the CCAA was “closed” the first week in October. But then again, seems like they’ve been making an effort to get through 1 month of LID’s in 2 months time lately. Your thoughts?

    RQ,
Thank you for updating the poll! With a 10/24 LID, I will be praying we make the cut… These new numbers have me wondering now…I am guessing we will have another cliff hanger as things unfold! It’s just nice to know we are close regardless of the outcome..

On a seperate note, I am so glad you are indulging and having fun buying baby clothes!! I too will be shopping for babygirl #2 soon too! Enjoy, and best wishes!

RQ I want to say Thank you, Thank you for sharing your thoughts and for all the work you do, this site, the polls, the forum, the ratings and for all the info you collect and analyse.

I am shocked every time I read or hear that people are rude and abusive to you or about you.
I think they forget (and this isnt an excuse for them but me trying to understand) that you are a waiting mom just like all of us. I also think that people should have the same manners that they have when speaking face to face for when they are blogging.

I am very grateful for all the work and energy you put into this site, I respect you and your anonminity.

    RQ,

I respect youre choise and understand why you make that choise. I can not understand why people make advantage of you identity. Maybe they are just jealous. I feel sorry for those people….
Thanks for all the hard work and all your time! I appreciate it very much.

  15. catherinethegreat Says:

RQ; thanks for everything We don’t need to know about your identity. I just hope you will share some of the postings with your new daughter when she grows up. This way she will be able to see what a wonderful and constructive thing you have done while waiting for her. It has helped me, and everyone else.
To those who missed their referrals this month: I am sorry. Hang in there.

  16. cmc Says:

    RQ

Thank you again for all that you do. And Congratulations!

Just had a quick question regarding your thoughts on the percentage of those in the process that follow your site. I believe I read in one of your comments that you suspected this poll (or perhaps you said site) captures approx 20% of those in the china adoption process

If the ccaa is referring approx 700 per month, based on the poll for those logged in the most recent batch of referrals Sept 28, 2005-Oct 13, 2005, it seems you are capturing more than 20% in the adoption process for this referral batch. I recall you stating that more people will vote closer to the months that are near referral.

    thanks

  17. chinadreams Says:

I have been doing a tiny bit of analysis, and my guess would be that the next cut-off would be somewhere between Oct. 23-25…I came up with this by seeing that 240 RQ families LIDs were covered last time. Somewhere in those dates would be about that many. I know there are a lot more factors…but this is just a rough estimate (I hope they go farther!)

    RQ,

Words cannot express how much a beacon of hope this website has been to all of us. Coming from an anti-RQ agency (obviously I did not follow their directives) your site has been the only light in the deafening silence of international adoption.

Thank you for all you have done and may you and yours be blessed with the sweet angel that will soon join your family.

You know what’s even better than buying new baby cloths? Seeing your new baby in an outfit your older daughter used to wear…it brings such wonderful memories and joy to your heart :-)
Younger daughter is in older daughters cloths today…you should have seen my dh’s face when he first saw her in them … priceless ~

  20. 2girlsfromchina Says:

    RQ,

Your identity is not important. You have been a friend to us all. Thank you! Enjoy every moment with your precious children. (LID: 10-14-05)

  21. sarahjane Says:

Okay, here is my theory…the agencies that are anti RQ do not want us informed, they want us to be needing them, hanging on their every word. My small agency appreciates the fact that I am calmer, I rarely need to call and I rarely need information so they can focus on their new clients…whatever to the anti RQ…
My next guess is the batch will be around the 25-27th of October…I figured it out based on the numbers prior along with the increased quesstimation of percentage of RQ readers. More and more are aware of this site. With a LID of 11-9 I am hoping for more of course along with a first of March and end of March referrals…a gril can dream
I get to spend the weekend with my 3 year cousin…she has been wanting to stay with us…I hope it works out, we live over 30 miles from her parents.
    GO BEARS!!!!

  22. mkinzie Says:

I don’t need to know who you are and I completely respect your request for privacy but know that I will forever be thankful for all that you have done. I don’t think I could have made it through the long wait without this site. My first indication that I would see who my baby was from you. What a priceless gift! Thank you sooooo much from a new mommy!

  23. jryle0514 Says:

    RQ,

Thanks for all you do! i dont know what I am going to do as with a 11-2-05 LID, I will not have you to keep me updated on rumors once we get closer. I am hoping you are in China at that time! Anyway, you do a fabulous job, and keep yourself anonymous, you just never know!
Sarahjane, yes GO BEARS! I live in Chicago, and husband is in Miami cheering them on with about a million other Bears fans! How exciting!
CONGRATS to all who received referrals!

  24. RumorQueen Says:

    Thanks everyone :)

And yes cmc, I haven’t run the numbers yet but I do think we’ve got more than 20% of the total voting now.

  25. Blossombaby Says:

RQ, I know you told us, in the info posted about yourself, that your referral was in late September, so by now you know your little one’s face. I am so happy for you. Thank you a million times over.
You have been right on the money with your cutoff predictions. As with Sarahjane, my small agency lo-o-o-ves it that I know exactly what’s going on (I’ve explained it’s from RQ.) When my adoption coordinator called on Feb. 2nd to tell me the new cutoff, her first laughing words were, “I know you already know this, but.. just doing my job…”
In appreciation for all you have done for me, I, as so many others have, contributed to Half The Sky. I now receive great info from them. I also know you have explained your future plans for this website, for which I am grateful, but if you never did another thing, I would still be forever grateful.

  26. sophie_mom Says:

RQ, you hear this everyday from many people, but it bears repeating: thank you for this site and for the hard work you put into it. This is our second adoption from China and back in 2004 we were practically clueless (except for the APC and some other Yahoo groups).

I explained your site to my mother and she was just amazed about all of it. She kept asking me who you were and how you got your info. I’m sure you have a lot of grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins and siblings and friends of many of us who read this site.

So again, thank you for all that you do. You’ve been a lifesaver for many of us!

    Sophie_mom

  27. cmc Says:

    RQ,

thanks. I think you are getting closer to 30-35%. You go girl!!! By the time this long wait to referral period is over, you will have captured everyone.

While you are away, will you be having someone else take the controls and provide updates to the site? I am so happy for you and your family and know there are likely to be so many things that will occupy your time, it will just seem like being lost at sea without any information from this site. Our agency is very conservative and we get very little information.

    chinadreams,

Like you, I did some number crunching and with a rough estimate, for the next LID cutoff, I came up with Oct 23-25 as well. We can always hope they go further.

It also seems that the total number of Oct 2005 dossiers is larger than those logged in November 2005

  28. Karen Parsons Says:

I am a first time poster today and just wanted to say a special Congratulations to “Autumn Makes 6!” We are so thrilled for your family…..she is such a beauty! RQ, we are also very thankful for this site and congratulations on receiving your referral!
With any luck, maybe will have our referral by June (12/7/05 log-in)
    Best Wishes to everyone!

Dear RQ MOMMY (again!), = )
As everyone has said here, it’s true that no one needs to know your true identity. . . especially since I think that anonymity is a basic requirement for all super heros/heroines! = )
More than that, I think everyone knows what really counts–that you give help and happiness to so many people. Thank you for all you do. Huge congratulations to you and your family. Enjoy this wonderfully special time.

  31. tripleH Says:

I have a question for anyone out there…especially those still waiting and a little time on their hands…I looked at the poll results..Oct Nov of 05 seem huge! to me…is it just me…what makes these months so much larger than other months..any ideas.

And blessings to all the families and their beautiful! babies!

  32. tantoria2 Says:

    RQ~

Do you think it is possible that there have always been a few families in each batch that are not matched for one reason or another and we just now have a place to gather and figure all of this out? Before you RQ, we were just all out there loosy goosy with no info!

  33. ChinaMama2007 Says:

    Hi Everyone and Jessa -

When I counted the numbers on the poll, I came up with about the same dates as you did re: the next batch. It just seems so small though! It is so frustrating, and I’m still hoping that CCAA will go through the end of October next time. I also wonder how much matching will get done before the CCAA heads out for CNY, will they finish a small batch and send it out afterwards? We still have a ways to go (LID Feb. 2006) but I am really, really beginning to speculate as to when we might travel (late summer, early fall MAYBE!?!?!).

    RQ
It must have taken you forever to get rid of the duplicates in the poll – I wrote down the numbers of Friday (I was bored and wanted to crunch some numbers) and dug them out and compared them with your final figures – there was a significant number of ‘false’ votes – there are some sick puppies (or should we say trolls) out there – glad you banned them – I guess they will go and cause havoc somewhere else now.

Congratulations RQ; I am really glad to hear you know what to shop for…and thank you a million times for all this inof you keep giving us.

I guess there is no pattern to those who have been left out of the referral batch, is there was I would guess we knew about it. Different workers at CCAA, is that it?

  37. catherinethegreat Says:

CMC; I am with you; I think next months cut-off will be somewhere between the 24th and 25th…. I wish they would finish off October; but I know they won’t.

  38. MaggieInDallas Says:

Since I’m LID 12/12/05, I ran the numbers through the end of the poll. Now keep in mind that these are just based on the idea that IF they do the same number of RQ folks in each batch, this is what the dates would look like. They actually came out pretty even.

    Next/March: October 25
    April: November 2
    May: November 16
    June: November 26

The Oct 25-Nov 2 batch is puny, LID-wise, but the others are pretty much what I expected. Which means I’m looking at July-August. Of course, there could always be a speed-up (whoopie!) or a slow-down (bummer), but I’m starting to believe that we will travel before the end of the year.

And by the way, I’m pretty new to this site, so I don’t know if I’ve broken a taboo by posting such guesses. If so, please let me know, and I will never do so again.

  39. myprincesses Says:

Hi there, I am new to this site, I introduced myself before referrals came out, so this is only my second post.
Congratulations to all who recieved their pictures of their little darlings!! You all must be so excited!!! I remember the first time we went through this, you just can’t explaine to anyone what you are feeling.!!!!
We are now waiting for our second baby. Our LID is Oct 17th, so we were sitting on pins and needles waiting to hear what the cut off date was. I know that most if not all the referrals that have been shown on here are from the States, some of course I have seen from other countries, but I am from Canada and haven’t seen any referrals on here for people in Canada.
Someone told me that we do not get referrals until at least a week after everyone else. Does anyone know if this is true (as once again, I am new to this site).
Since we are next, my next question is, does anyone have any ideas when we can expect the next referrals to come out???
    I am impatient aren’t I. I apologize, I know we just got referrals….
I went on and looked at EVERYONE’S blog that is posted here and each one of these babies are absolutely beautiful !!!! You are all so very lucky!!!!
    CONGRATULATIONS ONCE AGAIN!!!

Second I will agree with MaggieInDallas, Those are the same predictions that I’ve come up with using the polls. I’ve come to realize that as much as we try to predict what might happen so much of this is out of our hands. This process has sure taught me a lot about waiting.

Hopefully, though, some day the Rumor Queen will write her memoirs or autobiography telling all about her methods and sources. Maybe they’ll even make it into a movie, like “Catch Me If You Can.”! It wouldn’t be necessary to reveal her true identity even then, but I see Sandra Bullock or Ashley Judd playing the leading role. Not quite sure who would play the Rumor King, but I’m pretty sure he’d have to have brains and beauty…

This site has truly been a lifeline for me. Thank you RQ and all in the kingdom who are so supportive! Congratulations to everyone who received referrals and much appreciation to those who share their blogs with those of us still waiting–it is a great source of encouragement.

Oh Chocolate Chip I couldn’t agree more.

Our superheroine, must stay anonymous! Her super powers have saved more then one of our lives (mental) on more then one occasion. And as you pointed out, anoymity is the key to a successful super heroine career.

We all need to respect RQ’s need to stay underground and unkown for the sake of the greater good of the kindgom.

As there is no new post for Sunday, I am assuming (and hoping!) that RQ is out celebrating her latest referrals news with her family and friends. Enjoy RQ! Hope you have a lot of fun shopping in your horizons! And may I say, as everyone else feels as well, thank you so much for all you do. A year and a half has never been so much fun!

    Guangdong-
I’m using http://www.journeytome.com to keep family and friends updated. It’s free for the first four months and $5/mo after that. We just got our referral so I just set up my page yesterday. We should have our travel wrapped up easily in the four months so the time frame is good for us. At the end you can also purchase a CD of the journal you created.

  66. Nevada Says:

Congrats RQ! It’s been a long road for you. I will be in serious RQ withdrawal when you go get your little one! Although I’m so happy for you!

  67. Beth CF Says:

Hi and Congrates to everyone that was matched this month!! It is the most wonderful time!! Shopping, dreaming, packing!! All the best to everyone and particulary to RQ who has worked so hard to help us all along our paths!!

akkabakka Says, We are just back from China 2 1/2 months and we had access to WWW in both of the hotels that we were in. One was free the other was 20.00US per day.
We had a blog that kept the folks at home up to date and they LOVED being involved.

    Good luck!

    RQ -

Even though this is our second adoption from China, I don’t know where we would have been without your site. You kept us informed and most of all – focused on the goal of getting our referrals, even if the process was excruciatingly slow. The support from the community you have built has been a great help.

    We wish you the best!

NONONONO! The cutoff should be at least 10/26 or 10/27!Agency says we are likely in…

  70. Sumay Says:

I am praying you’re right PJM. It would make sense too for us to be in. Hopefully it won’t be a small batch due to CNY.

  72. 2girlsfromchina Says:

I know February is a short month, but does anyone have ideas on how we can make it fly by even faster. I’m ready for March and my referral. I missed the cut by ONE DAY! I also realized this morning that I may not meet my new daughter until May and then it will have officially taken two years from paperchase to pickup. Whoever thought 6 mos. would turn into 24? Sorry to be so depressing!

  73. catherinethegreat Says:

2girlsfromchina… We all know exactly how you feel; it will be at least two years from the time I initiated the paperwork till I meet my daughter for sure. The Good news? You are almost done with waiting and I am behind you with a November 23 LID. Hang in there. We will see our daughters faces soon. At least you know you are NEXT!!! Take care!! Spring is just around the corner (although you would never know it from all the snow I can see right now!!).
