Julie43,
Snick; correct me if I am wrong:
Pinging is like the sound (this just reflects the notification) that notifies you when your inbox gets a new email. Some people have apparently hooked up their cell phones via the internet to receive a notification when an internet page has been updated....in the case of this blog forum it sounds like they did this for rumors here..From Snick's definition it sounds like that people can do this on their internet pages to send you 'pings' too. I think it can be irritating on a busy page...cause you would get a lot of notifications from people you did not want messages from (spam emails, etc). Hopefully this is a correct definition, or I should ping pong off giving these away...I tried...sorry if it does not make sense.

The CCAA website is back up but does not appear to have been updated. Let's hope for some update by end of their day, tomorrow. LID 10/28/05

The real answer about pinging is:

"Pinging is used to let other websites know that your blog has been updated"

My guess is that the CCAA will be working on Monday if only to facilitate the logging in of any last dossiers by the May 1st deadline.
