Latest Poll
As you can see from the graphic at the right, I’ve got a new LID poll up. This one covers November of 2005 all the way through April of 2007. It will show the size of the months and does not break it down by days. I do not intend to do another daily poll anytime soon since we’re barely into the current daily poll.
We have another barometer of how the LID dates are spread out, and that is the membership in the LID rooms in the forum. Even though the participation is not as high, I think it might be a better indicator than a poll that covers such a wide range of dates. The reason being that a lot of people in the mid points of their wait are not going to rumor sites right now, but they may have been here shortly after becoming DTC and LID and they may have joined a room at the time. (Yes, I know some in the midpoint are here, but statistically it seems that most come for a short time and then rarely visit for a while and then come back on a regular basis as they get closer.)
A lot of March and April 2007 people don’t have their LID yet, so I expect those months will grow a great deal in the near future.
Back to the poll, because of the safeguards I’ve put in place to try to make it easier to finalize later, most AOL users will not be able to vote.

YAY!!! I was sooo excited to vote!!! I’m curious to see how it plays out… sadly, right now Dec-Feb don’t look any smaller than the monsters Nov and March on either side.

I guess I didn’t get to vote because I am AOL…but I am June 2006.
And yes RQ…I have said it before…and others have said it…but YOU are the only reason I have hair on my head and people have not died!!! Thank you for being here and making this available to all of us. The news is almost always not good but it is the truth and the only place we seem to get it. Your efforts is trying to make sense of all of this is so appreciated….One day when I finally do have my little girl…I will sit here down and tell her about a real queen I knew….in a land far far away….that helped me to get to you….

Whoa!!! November 05 is HUGE!!! If it’s really that big, it’ll take eons to get through!! Unless, that is, CCAA SPEEDS UP!!! Certainly they could surprise everyone one month and decide to match 2 weeks or MORE worth!!!

Yikes…November is a bear isn’t it? March looks pretty darn big too.
With an April 06 LID and numbers like these..I can see how a July or August 08 referral –or later–could very well be a reality.

Thanks a lot for this. I think you are probably right, but I also think that one of the reasons that the November -March period may also look so big is that not everyone asks to get into an LID room at the same times as registering for the forum. I am one of those people who registered for an LID room fairly recently (compared to the time I registered in the forum)…I know you mentioned this on your posting….but I wonder how important this point is in terms of inflating the months that are currently being covered or that will be covered soon (ie October-December 2005). Either way, I agree with you, I think all of this information is really helpful.

True that Nov looks huge compared to Oct. But it’s highly likely that many many Nov. LID’ers are on the site, while many or most of Oct LIDers are busy preparing for their referral, or traveling already or getting ready to travel.
I tend to want to put an optimistic spin on things, but that does seem logical — to me.

December always looks about half of November on the polls on this site but actually the yahoogroup of December has a lot more members than the yahoogroup of November. Is that a fluke or can there be an explanation to this? Maybe there are lots and lote of Decemberpeople and for some reason they hate this site? Any Decemberpeople out there having any instincts about this?

This may be due to overlap with people joining two yahoo groups. WE did that as we are dtc oct 05 and lid nov 05 so joining both made sense at the time

Does anyone know how long it took to get through Aug? I am thinking at least 4 months to get through November now but trying to figure what is realistic for December and January since they are about the same as Aug.

You can’t really use the DTC numbers for analysis. Most people join two or three DTC groups, and some do it based on their DTC and some do it based on their LID. The rooms here are clearly based on LID and each person is only allowed in one room.
Remember though that the site has been gaining viewers and back when August was being referred we didn’t have as many viewers. For the LID room membership it’s okay to compare August to September, but probably not August to January.
And on the poll results it’s okay to compare any grouping of three or four months, but don’t compare two months that are six months apart. The reason for this is because there are more November and December people stalking a rumor blog than there are (for instance) August 2006 people stalking a rumor blog. (yes, I know there are August ‘06 people here, I’m just talking about percentages of the total)

I have been a long time side liner, and have finally scrunched up my courage and registered. Look out!
Our agency hasn’t given us nearly the information that you have. Not that they are holding back, but just wish to not participate in the rumour mongering, which is just fine for them. But not for me. You are a God Send here in Canada!
I have tried to register for your poll,but no dice, so please list us as LID May 06. I do have a question, being new here and all….what is DTC? And how does it differ from a LID?
We have for about the last two years been telling family and friends, “only anther year now”…well, do I have egg on my face! With LID May 06, do you think it’s more realistic that we’ll get a referral May 08, or am I too optimistic, and should I hope for July or Aug 08?

Ummm. OK. I thought I knew what’s what, but now I’m reading about registering for rooms and I have no idea what y’all are talking about. RQ or someone, can you explain? I thought we were voting, now there’s registering for rooms and multiple rooms, etc… what did I miss? I’m feeling a little like a newbie right now!

Hello, I’m french. I think a lot of AEC (AdopterEnChine)members will vote for your new LID poll. How will you make a analyse ? Our votes (and perhaps from others countries) are going to false your results, no ???? It will be difficult to compare the results with olders votes.
You make a fabulous work, and I don’t want that our participation make it more difficult to do. What do you think of it ? Are usually a lot of countries voting ?

We regularly have people from all over the world vote in our polls. I see IP addresses from all over Europe and from Australia and from Canada.
This is exactly what we want - the whole picture.

I believe RQ was referring to the DTC and LID support groups that people join outside of this site. It makes sense to only use the number of members from each LID group b/c that is what she is analyzing. (One member may join a DTC group and then also join their prospective LID group). Sorry RQ, didn’t mean to speak up for you!

AOL Users: I signed onto RQ via my computers Internet Explorer site and was able to leave my LID vote. It would not allow me to vote via AOL.

You can also ask to join the LID room on RQ forum. Go to search and enter Want to join a LID room. You will see the I want to join a LID room thread, open it and reply, I want to join my LID is june 07 etc… and she will add you when she gets time.

Sometimes there are more than one Yahoo group for the same DTC period. Maybe that could be one reason? For instance there are two DTC-Jan06 groups (which I think it is completely unneccessary, I wish they would join to one).

Also don’t forget that the Yahoo groups represent many people who sign into them for other reasons as well, such as advertising purposes, or additional family members just wanting to keep informed etc. (And I realize that there are family members on this site as well, so there will be some inflated numbers of people in the LID ROOMS.) Mom2laura, Aunt2laura as an example. Or TGRedthread and his wife. (Wonder how they are doing now with their little princess?)
I think RQ’s data reflects a more accurate picture of people’s LID, and wouldn’t be inflated because you can only vote once, and I’m sure the family members get it and would only vote for the LID once.
I don’t know how you do it RQ with everything on your plate. As many have said, you are a wealth of information, and for that I thank you!
Are you still getting donations to Half the Sky?? I would love some day to be able to meet you and thank you personally from the bottom of my heart! It would be so easy for you to just close up shop now, but you continue to amaze me with the dedication to this site. Your family must be so proud of you and what you have turned this site into! How do we ever thank you enough. Following this site now for over a year!

Just a note that only the families are supposed to be in LID rooms, using your example, Aunt2Laura is not in a LID room.
There are a few husbands and wives, but not many.
As for this site - it’s become more than just a blog, it has become a community. I feel so grateful that the mods did such a wonderful job of holding down the fort while I could not be here, and they are still helping to hold down the fort, too.
