The New Banner
When I started my original blog back on blogger it was really just to keep up with the rumors myself and try to make sense of what I could find. I named it In Search of Rumors because that’s most of what I did back then, search for rumors and try to make sense of them. Calling myself Rumor Queen was really just a joke, I needed to call myself something and it seemed like a good idea at the time.
But the site took on a life of its own and now the rumors are a very small part of what we do here. They are still a part of it, an important part, but we do much more as well. I think that the polls probably tell us as much as the rumors these days.
The thing is, the site has become more than a blog, it has become a gathering place for a community. So it was time to take down the “In Search of Rumors” banner. I’ve debated for a while about what to put up and in the end just decided that the URL pretty much says it all.
If you are still seeing the old banner then your browser has the old one cached - just hit reload and you’ll see the new one.

I love the new banner — and I agree, this says it all…and this has become a safe and loving community that - even when we disagree, still manages to “play nice”.
I hope you’ll keep the title of “Rumor Queen”, tho… I don’t know that I can think of you in any other way. :D

Hey RQ — I think this is a good change. The word “community” definitely reflects what the site is to me and, even though I’m having to drop out of the China program, why I will keep coming back for a long time.

Good Day to All!
Ya know, it’s funny…quite a few months ago, a fellow mom-in-waiting mentioned this site to me. It’s a rumour site she told me. Well, didn’t I get up on my high horse and scoff at her. You know our agency really does discourage this type of behaviour! Gathering and rumour mongering, then questioning our respectable agencies, as to why they didn’t tell us what the rumour site was saying. I should check it out before passing judgements, I was told.
WEEEELLLLLL….One cruise around here and I was instantly a junkie!
Now, when I get to work, I check my email and this site. And when I get home I chatter about what the Queen said today. I do try to get some constructive stuff done throughout the day.
It’s not just the “rumours” it’s the interaction from others around the world who are going through exactly the same thing that we are. I see others who also share our LID, and wonder, who are you, where are you, are our daughters crib mates, will I ever meet you, and how wonderful is it that if we do meet it is because of 2 little girls clear across the world.
That’s the part I like the most.
Talking with family members is one thing, but here we have a sisterhood. (Sorry to any fellas out there.)
I’m sure RQ’s schedule is stupid busy, but you have done countless families a wonderful service.
So, call yourself whatever you would like, we will follow….

RQ~ when did you first start the blog on blogger? It seems like I was reading on blogger for quite a while before you made the move to the new servers. I’m just trying to figure out when my “addiction” began.

I started on blogger in December of 2005.
I moved to my own server in April of 2005, and I upgraded to bigger plans several times at that host over the next five months until I had the biggest package they had.
Then I moved to another server at a host that also handles some really big sites so I felt comfortable they could handle any future growth. I’ve gone up in plans twice since moving to them.
I am very close to having to move up again, and the next jump is huge, so I’m holding off as long as I can.

Wasn’t that a wonderful moment when you realized what a treasure this site is? For the first time I stopped walking around in the dark and telling people my referral was just around the corner. It enabled me to not lose credibility when people asked me about the wait. I will be forever grateful that the last 12 months before our referral were not months spent groping around in the dark. Thank you, RQ. (I love that name.)

Love the new Banner. Very appropriate. However, I can’t help thinking how much it would help me while I’m at work if you changed it something like “Excel Spreadsheet” or “Business Reports” instead.

I had a dream about you the other night that I met you and you were a strong, confident black woman!!! A Maya Angelou type (but much younger!). I am not a black woman but I dreamt that you were and I have no idea why!!! Maya Angelou is one of my favorite authors and speakers and I love to read her books when I need a mood lift and I guess that is what this site has become for me as well!! A beacon of light in the darkness of international adoption!

I love it - skates - “Excel Spreadsheets or Business Reports” plus if the url could only indicate some kind of business site - as if my company has time to track internet traffic. I am at a new job so I actually rarely check at work - so far - unless we are close to referrals. I am sure this will change.
Any way RQ, the banner makes sense and we are so happy that you keep it going. What an incredible community. I remember being a lurker afraid to comment, now I am a senior member. There is such a wealth of information and support here.
I heard about the site from a family friend who told me “adopt talk or something like that.” Once I found it I never turned back.

ziggy - it will either be called reload or refresh. You should have a button for it.
If you can’t find a button then in firefox you can hit Control-R to refresh and in IE you can hit the F5 key.
