  1. fish Says:

ok, as bad as this cut-off is, how soon do the referrals typically come after the cut-off becomes more solidified like this? Could we see them arriving this week? Fish

  2. tantoria2 Says:

Ugggggggggg, how can it turn ugly so quickly( retorical, no response required)?!? I OFFICIALY HATE THIS WAIT!

    11/17/05

  3. Livysmom Says:

So……matching is over? Are referrals on the way??

  4. Livysmom Says:

BTW…ANOTHER 6 day batch??? Even though I am next, as an 11-02 LID’er, I really wanted to be with my friends, 11-08. I cannot believe 6 days again….

  5. Mom2Three Says:

So what is the excuse this time for having such a small batch? This is getting ridiculous, and they don’t make a chocolate bar big enough.
    :(

  6. anxiously waiting Says:

There is no knowing when the referrals come after what appears to be a solid rumor hits. There is no rhyme no reason. I am not convinced this is a solid rumor yet but it is looking more that way.

The only good thing right now is that we have not heard that referrals are arriving (except one little birdie that was wrong)so there is still time for this to get better. How much, or any better, is impossible to say at this point.

    I am bumming beyond belief.

    AW

  7. frustrated Says:

    Deep sigh. Perhaps we’re in.
Deep sigh. This is so sad for everyone at all stages. It means another 6 day batch.
Any rumors of when they’ll be mailed?
Never thought I’d find the excitement of knowing we’re possibly in so depressing too.

  8. patientlywaiting Says:

So is this the same R3 rating as the 16th-21st? Which if is so, would indicate to me we still know nothing really?

We should all buckle up and be prepared for a bumpy ride.

  9. kbdelarosa Says:

Mom2Three-too bad Easter passed, at least you could get one of the ginormous chocolate bunnies. As for me, I need the ginormous bottle of wine with a side of chocolate. With an April 06 LID, I am starting to think it will be at least a three year weight, I mean wait.

  10. chinasyndrome Says:

My agency is a rat — but a well-connected rat. Someone who has tutored me on the finer points China IA and who is familar with my agency’s tactics constantly reminds me to not get wrapped up in what my agency or the CCAA says. Focus instead on “what they do.” And this morning my agency did something very odd. They called our SW (not one of their own SWs but someone we contracted with to do our home study because the agency is out-of-state) and asked if she would speak to us about taking a SN child — that it might be something we should consider with the current state of the NSN program. Now — we’ve never even hinted to our agency (in our home study or subsequent conversations) that this is something we are interested in. And — the agency wanted our SW to speak to us asap about it. What do I make of this? Let’s just say I could site numerous examples of our agency saying one thing and then doing the opposite. I could tell that our SW (who’s worked in IA for 20 years) was troubled by the call — and suspicious of our agency’s motives. —Hmmmmm– I got a bad feeling –

  11. catherinethegreat Says:

Can I just sigh for the whole November group and everyone else waiting…This is just plain awful..

  12. adventures Says:

    Joining in the gigantic SIGH.

    :(

  13. waitingforlibby Says:

    chinasyndrome,

What is your LID? That is so strange!

  14. Livysmom Says:

    chinasyndrome
I am so sorry, I am awefully suspicious! What is your LID??

  15. Livysmom Says:

Did they tell you what the SN’s were of the child???

  16. ckhunter2002 Says:

Maybe they have a waiting child they think would be perfect for you?

  17. chinasyndrome Says:

    Livysmom–
    We are Sept. 06

  18. flowerpower Says:

chinasyndrome - what do you make of the call? How would you interpret their motives?

  19. eli Says:

Chinasyndrome — so, what are you thinking they are getting at? that the NSN program is about to close, or that it is going to slow down even further ( is that even possible?)

just wondering if you could elaborate on your ‘bad feeling’ … i certainly got a bad feeling reading your post! but maybe they just got you mixed up with someone else who expressed interest in SN…? i guess that’s a longshot…

  20. Livysmom Says:

    Chinasyndrome,

Please let us know the outcome…Perfect child for you? Mix up? Maybe it is fate??

  21. mezzok Says:

    Chinasyndrome:

I don’t know anything at all about the SN process; could this agency be considering closing their china program and have SN children “assigned” to them that they want to place? What did your SW say? This is very odd.

BTW - JUST talked with my agency about the wait. They are really wonderful, responsive, and helpful people — no complaints there. But they will not be anything but conservative in their prognosis — only will say what the wait is now and that there IS attrition and there ARE fewer dossiers being sent over now…oh well!

    Praying for you, Nov families!

  22. aicram1966 Says:

This was the first time I didn’t fall for it! With all of the positive rumors going on, I just did NOT believe it. It has happened too many times. I just won’t believe it until it actually happens…not that I don’t check out the rumors EVERY day…ha! I hope that one day I will be pleasantly surprised!!!

Chinasyndrome, that is so bizarre!!! Keep us posted.

  23. Ryleesmom2004 Says:

Another 6 days? That’s not the bad part….we went from 170 files (RQ poll numbers) down to 114? Or is my math totally out the window?

  24. eli Says:

Ryleesmom — i noticed that too. Horrible.

  25. al Says:

    aicram1966 :

I am with you i was never able to believe it. Each time I saw someone writing i had a bad feeling about that to happen this month. I am sorry for all those who have hoped a referral this mos.

  26. codyexpress Says:

My sw has checked in with us from time to time to see how we are doing. This time she did mention that sn was an option. All I took it as is just a friendly way to say I understand the long wait, I know it must be hard on you, and have you thought about sn? I think the agency finally are realizing the long wait we have had and that it will potentially grow even longer. Their hands are tied, and maybe in their eyes they see sn as a way for their clients to get their babies faster? I don’t know…Who knows, maybe agency’s are getting more sn babies than they have applications for. I know that can’t be true but who knows.

  27. DragonMom Says:

My math stinks, but doesn’t that mean that CCAA won’t finish November 05 (my lid is 11/30/05) until October???

    I-yi-yi.

  28. chinasyndrome Says:

Trust me on this one — our agency hasn’t found the “perfect child” for us. Our agency is up to something. For example — even as our agency spouted that there were “no new rules coming” — they had a very detailed copy in their hot little hands long before most other agencies, and they spent last summer 06 cherry-picking the most qualified (under the new rules) China clients while guiding those that might not pass China muster to other country programs. You ask why — because they were afraid there was every possiblity that the CCAA was going to make some of the new rules retroactive to reduce the backlog. As you can see, we’ve had the opportunity to get to know our agency intimately.

  29. flowerpower Says:

But if numbers of LIDS have gone way down instead of up - is there a way to follow up what ever happened with that big pile of baby dossiers? Maybe it never existed, but if it did, where did it go? Was CCAA perhaps not allowed to match these babies because of a new quota? And does it keep getting lower each month?

  30. flowerpower Says:

chinasyndrome, I just read your response. Do you think you could get to know them even more intimately to figure out what they are up to?
Agencies get brownie points from the CCAA for placing SN children, and at least where I leave they actually live off the money they receive post placement so they are basically taking back through SN-placements what they miss out on in the immobile NSN queue. Maybe that is not relevant but that was my second thought, The first I dare not mention.

  31. eli Says:

good question, flowerpower, I am just so skeptical about the ‘big pile of baby dossiers’ or whatever ignited the ‘big batch’ rumor. i really have to wonder where these very specific rumors are coming from…the ones with the dates attached, like ‘11/16′, ‘11/21 or beyond’ ‘into the double digits’ and then there was ‘ccaa knows how big 2005 is and wants to get through 2005 lids as quickly as possible’

where does this stuff come from? (i know the mods can’t answer this, i’m just asking out of frustration).

am i the only one thinking that alot of these rumors are just cruel hoaxes? it really makes me wonder if someone is messing with us!

and it reminds me of the ‘expect a nice surprise’ rumor regarding one of the sept 05 batches ( anyone else remember that one?) and then it turned out to be a small batch ( nice surprise, that one!)

    just feeling very cynical today

  32. 2qts4me Says:

That is strange! We adopted SN’s because we wanted to and we knew our little boy was meant to be with us. However, I cannot believe an agency would try and encourage their clients to go that route when it is not what they feel is best for their family, or simply don’t want to.

I have, in the past, and recently heard of more families when going to China to bring their children home receiving children that were not healthy, but were not considered SN’s by the CCAA or the WI but are by Western standards.
Some were misdiagnosed in China for the better, and others for the worse.

The floor that our ds resided on in the WI in China was run by a British Institution and they do not allow mentally challenged children to be adopted. She said that the medical reports in China are not thorough, accurate and in some instances completely wrong. Funny, when we went for the medical in China, the Dr’s there said our ds medical chart had him down as slow, which he isn’t. But since then, I have heard this is common. They seem to rate every child with a low IQ LOL.

I would be very interested to know if you find anything more about this. Like any international businesses you just don’t know what goes on behind on the smiles and the official representations.

  33. km98 Says:

    chinasyndrome-
We had this happen to us in 2001. We had been LID for about 3mos requesting a NSN girl between the ages of 0-5yrs. Our agency’s China coordinator called us and said that CCAA has 3 children and wanted to know if we would be interested in any of them. One was a boy and
2 were girls. One girl was 2.5 yrs and had scars, the other girl was missing a toe (that’s all the info I received). We told her that we would take either of the girls. I asked her if this meant we had a referral. She said - “no, no, CCAA just wants to know”. Two weeks later she called and said “We have your referral!” We were referred the 2.5 yr old little girl. We could not have been better matched (she’s our amazing 9 yr old!). I do believe this was right around the time the CCAA was formalizing their SN program. But it was odd since we had never considered SN or even knew much about the program.

  34. amygum Says:

    ?

  35. MeizhiMom Says:

    chinasyndrome,
I would also be apprehensive of your agency’s motives, given the 411 you have provided, espec. if you have not ever indicated you wish to adopt a SN child. As the mother of a SN child, I am appalled that there’s even a chance that an agency would try and pressure families into adopting a child they may not want to adopt, be mentally, physically or financially able to adopt or even to get $ in the agency door faster or get into anyone’s (CCAA) good graces or to just get client’s off their open lists or whatever.

I am not saying ANY of this is pertinent in your situation; I am just saying it makes all the protective mom hairs on the back of my neck stand up and take notice when even the slightest hint of something off might be going on. I want all the children places as much as anyone and some of the angels really need homes NOW….but a Special needs adoption is not for everyone. These children have been thru enough.

I will think positive thoughts for you and this suspcious feeling you have. I hope things turn out for the good.
Just as I hope the next batch of referrals comes soon and we get this anxiety over with.

  36. kurtb Says:

This news, (6 day match) is not what most of us November families had hoped for, but then again, it seems the way things are now being done. Maybe its the volume, maybe its to “shake” things out some. In any case, the beat goes on, for all of you with LID’s in this window (6 day batch), congratulations!!! for those of us still waiting, just hang in there a little longer everyone, its all gonna work itself out eventually, I know it hurts (me too!!) but it will give us all a little more time to get ready, plan or whatever! Just maintain an even strain!!!!

  37. MJJB Says:

    OH.MY.GOD.
Please, please, please,Please, please, please,Please, please, please,Please, please, please,Please, please, please,Please, please, please let the 7th be in!

I am not usually this selfish but I just can’t stand the thought of waiting another month after getting our hopes up for the past 3 month.

If they do to the 7th - that means only 4 business days as there is a weekend in there. Sigh.

Up until a few hous ago I was so sure we were in - now I ride the dreaded roller coaster. It’s gonna be a long week.

  38. kurtb Says:

Anyone else out there with a LID of 11/16/05?

  39. tochinaformeimei Says:

Alright, so now we know that this batch is going to be utterly depressing. But any clues on when it will come?

  40. p12 Says:

chinasyndrome and others, can we cool it with the “bad feeling” generalities please. How about you simply say what happened, and why you think it…and not leave things to peoples’ imaginations. I know this is a place for rumors, but this kind of talk needlessly scares people.
Please make sure to post what happens to update people.

  41. papa2b Says:

I called my large China only agency today and they said they have no information so I am not sure where this info is coming from. Also, if they really only get to 11-7, 2 of those days were on the weekend!

  42. tantoria2 Says:

    kurtb,

We have a Nov 17 2005 LID. we are in a very similar boat I am afraid, and THIS REALLY SUCKS! There, I said it! I do not let my kids say “sucks”, but I feel it is very appropriate at this time:-)

  43. RumorQueen Says:

p12 I do not sensor the way people feel. They were in the conversation, so I value their input about what they got from the conversation.

  44. Livysmom Says:

I think it is OK to say that it “sucks” I mean what an appropriate word for today!

Let us also remember that this is not ONLY a rumor blog, but a safe place where we as a “society” per say, can openly discuss our feelings freely (to a degree)

Chinasyndrome, please let us know, but also I can completely understand why you expressed what you think as you are seeking advice from all of us, right? I say be careful and let us knw what happens

It is a tough time of the month, kind of like we are all PMS’ing, that includes you AW, hahaha

  45. chinaboundsoon Says:

    kurtb,

We also have a LID of 11/16/05. This wait has been so long. We never imagined it. Our friends got there referral in 6 months back in ‘04. Now we are almost to the 19 months wait. I’m counting my gray hairs.

  46. somedaymama Says:

    MJJB -
You are hardly selfish for wanting to see your child’s face. I think most of us would feel pretty much the same way if we were in your shoes.

As for the “middle of November” rumors, it was sure fun while it lasted. I always fall for the good rumors - but then a 12 year old did tell me this weekend that if you say “snowball” very slowly it sounds like “gullible.” Guess who tried it?

    I should’ve known there wasn’t a snowball’s chance in he## we’d see referrals through the 15th!

    LID 02/07/06

  47. LadyBug4 Says:

My agency knows nothing about this. The cut-off being the 7th. They expect more. How much more they’re not able or willing to say, but she does not believe it is the 7th.

  48. LadyBug4 Says:

kurtb and chinaboundsoon: I, too have a LID of 11/16. Nice to “meet” some people I could bump into in GZ.

  49. demerle Says:

Hello Rumor Queen. Just curious I know the 7th is looking pretty definite according to your R3 close to R4 rating but I was just wondering have you heard anything today from anyone to point you from later dates. I imagine if you did you wouldn’t rate the negative dates as you have but I just wanted to check. I was just holding out some hope that it may not be accurate. Thanks, Danielle LID 12/22/05

  50. fjm Says:

RQ–has there ever been a time when we’re this late in the monthly wait–the good rumors have come and the bad rumers start–and then the bad rumors turn out not the be the case? I haven’t seen this happen since I came to the site but wondered if you had?

  51. neatokimmo Says:

If it does end up being the 7th - stinks for me.

Ok, so I’m logging in today with very mixed emotions. I am on Cloud 9 because we are 11/04, so I THINK we made it in this time. However, our very good friends are 11/10, so we’re not sure that they did. This truly breaks my heart. We wanted so badly to travel together, but it doesn’t look like it is written in the stars for that to happen. I know exactly how they feel, because we’ve been in that same place the past two months when we didn’t make it in. I just keep telling myself that there’s a reason, but I just don’t understand. We’ve all waited so long and are so emotionally and financially drained, that you’d think something could go right for a change. On the Cloud 9 side of this story, I cannot wait to see my daughter’s face for the first time. I can’t even begin to imagine how I’ll feel when I see her pictures. Someone pinch me please!

  67. mkmel Says:

Now that I’m cooled down I did want to say my agency said that their Bejing staff told them that referrals are only up to the 7th. I’m so bummed I was still holding on to a glimmer of hope that I would have a referral by Christmas. Looks like that is almost a distant memory!! : ….(

  68. chinasyndrome Says:

    P12,

I’m sorry — but what I’ve said in my previous posts is not speculation or generalities. We had to get a third party involved to get some answers from our agency about what was going on in China IA. It was our agency that confirmed to us — in front of this 3rd party — that they indeed were pushing in the summer/fall of 06 to get as many dossiers as possible with “clean paper” assembled and DTC. We took “clean paper” to mean dossiers that met the new requirements and contained nothing the CCAA might flag. Now the little darlings are “encouraging” clients — clients who otherwise have shown no interest in the SN program — to consider switching. Look — this agency doesn’t do something for no reason. Last summer they were afraid the CCAA was going to make some of the “new rules” retroactive. Now they are making a concerted effort to move clients from NSN to SN. By the way, we chose this agency because we knew they had a “special” relationship with the CCAA and that they “knew things” — even if getting them to share what they know is like pulling teeth. It’s the kind of agency you want in your corner if you run into trouble or need assistance while in China.

  69. flash95 Says:

    chinasyndrome:

Just to clarify - Do you believe your agency is “encouraging” clients to switch to the SN programs because the NSN program may be closing OR is it because the agency thinks the “new rules” may be made retroactive OR is it another reason I’m totally missing?

  70. cmc Says:

    chinasyndrome

    I echo flash95’s question

were you able to get a sense as to the motivation behind “encouraging” families to switch from nsn to sn?

thanks and eager to see what you think

  71. Hopeful Heart Says:

    chinasyndrome,
Can you tell we ALL WANT TO KNOW where you think your agency is coming from?!? The suspicious flag that went up in my head after reading your posts is I wonder if since the NSN apps are drying up, they’re looking at ways to generate income to keep the business afloat. I don’t know what the breakout is of the payment schedule with them is, but if they collect part of their agency fee at referral, “encouraging” people -aka herding them whereever possible - towards SN would benefit their bottom line. Ethical? Maybe not so much. But it’s more logical and less scary to me than the alternatives that have been suggested. As with the rest of this adventure, I guess we’ll see when we see.

  72. flowerpower Says:

Chinasyndrome, I am equally eager for your own opinion even if you do not know what it means in terms of facts.
