I have enough Attrition information now

Thank you to everyone who sent information. I have over 400 responses, though only 124 of those responses had the information I need (beginning and current numbers). Of those 124 LID groups we have information for over 1,000 families, which should be enough to give us a nice picture of things.

I’ll drill through the information and put it into a form everyone can understand as quickly as I can. Hopefully by tonight.

I don’t need anymore data, I’ve pulled this into a spreadsheet and won’t be adding anything else to the spreadsheet.

Thanks again.

Thank you for doing this, RQ! I can’t imagine trying to sort through all of that data. I am thankful you are willing to do it for us all!

Thanks for doing this Rumor Queen!! I think that the information that everyone provided will be very useful in allowing us the chance at seeing the bigger picture……

Yipee! More RQ analysis. I just love it, thanks RQ, YR

I am glad you have enough info.
I am wondering if agencys are being more tight liped now because of the wait time length. A year ago when I requested the number of families in my lid group they gave it to me, but now they say it is confidential info and can’t give it out.

  6. grover Says:

Cant’ wait to see the data, gotta love it. Hopefully Next 12/5/05

  7. skye06 Says:

Thanks so much, RQ! Thanks as well to all who contiributed info. It helps us families with LIDs further out to get an idea of what’s going on, a better idea when we can expect our referrals and to be able to plan our lives. Every detail helps add to the overall picture. THANK YOU! LID Sept 06

Ditto on the “Thanks”, and oh so very anxious to see the results.

Very anxious to see the results! Is it terrible that I am really hoping that this will show there has been attrition? I know that means some families dreams have died, and yet here I sit thinking come on please let this point to even a slight possiblity of a speed up. I am going to tell myself that if there is attrition it is families switching to other countries and still getting a baby, or switching to SN and still getting a baby! But still I feel like a heal wishing for it!

Sorry everyone, it’s going to be tomorrow before I can do this. Homework and bedtime rituals and laundry took up most of my evening.

  12. momin2007 Says:

You rock for doing it at all!
Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!

I fear my response may have been one of the unhelpful ones–sorry about that.

Thanks for collecting this information. It’s something I’ve been wondering about for a while and I look forward to seeing your analysis.

  16. waitingforlaurali Says:

Just wanted to share that I read my Agency’s newsletter and found out that there may be a halt of the adoption process during the Olympics, which is set to begin August 4th of 08 and end on the 24th. Chiana will be asking businesses to shut down during this time to conserve on traffic. This will probably not effect the families that are traveling to China to adopt during that time.

Well, we thought so, didn’t we?

  17. fjm Says:

I hope they shut down only for the 20 days and not more. We’ve been hearing 4 months

  18. waitingforlaurali Says:

Oh, 4 months now? Even better….

Are they talking 2months before and 2 mos during/after?

Do you think purhaps China wants us to pull out? They certainly are making it tempting.

Meanwhile little babies are wallowing away in orphanages.

    Don’t mind me..I’m having a bad day.

  19. lynandjoe Says:

RQ, Can you please speak to this rumor regarding closing of the China adoption program during the Olympics? I’ve wondered if that would happen, and heard rumors, but nothing definite. thanks~

  20. mcwannab Says:

I’m having a bad day too, waitingforlaurali. How much more can we take and adjust to???? I keep waking up hoping my 7-9 month turned 3 year wait is only a bad dream.

  21. waitingforlaurali Says:

mcwannab, I know what you mean. It seems that every time I start feeling ok about a rumor or about what our agency says, something else comes along and hits me like a ton of bricks.

It just makes me so sad that China would play politics with their children. There’s so many parents who could give them a loving home and security. They’ll end up losing some great parents because of their politics.

  22. lynandjoe Says:

I asked my agency (who I tend to trust) about the clsoing or slowing during the Olympics, and she said that they had heard nothing about any closing or even slowdown from the CCAA. She said given that they have a pretty good relationship with the CCAA (the head of our agency is Chinese and has contact with China), at this point, they don’t believe that will happen. That’s not to say it is impossible, but she really doubts it.

  23. oklaurak Says:

RQ said, “Sorry everyone, it’s going to be tomorrow before I can do this. Homework and bedtime rituals and laundry took up most of my evening.”

WHAT??? You have a real life outside of this website??? You know what RQ, you take as much time as you need to get those sweet babies in bed and love up on them as much as you can. The referrals will get here when they will, even if you never crunch the numbers (but I’d love to see the results, anyway!!)

spam word: family–that’s what it’s all about!

  24. Campgirl14 Says:

I just want to tell all of you who are estimating a long and arduous 3 year wait that I know where you are right now. I have to say that it’s great that you have found this website though. We just discovered it about a month ago and had we found it earlier, we would have had a much more informed and realistic big picture.

We were totally at the mercy of our agency for info. We would wait patiently for their updates and that was about all they gave us (now I get the updates from RQ earlier than I do from them!)

Our LID is Dec 27, 2005. Originally we thought we’d have our girl in Oct of 2006 and then Dec of 2006 (I can NOT believe we ever thought that!), but our agency wasn’t telling us anything different, just sending us updates and telling us that “it would happen.” WHATEVER.

Because of this site, I am SO much more informed than I was. Had I known about it earlier, I not only would have been more empowered with information, but I wouldn’t have had my hopes up every month, or been throwing false dates around to my friends, family and clients. (That has been the worst because now people are saying things like: “What’s taking so long? I thought you were getting your baby in Dec!”)
    Ugh, so annoying.

Our agency still hasn’t changed the blatantly wrong 15-16 month referral wait on their website (even though I have repeatedly told them that we have already passed 20 months and what they have posted is cruel misinformation to anyone new who is applying).

I know limbo is the worst. We live there too. Hang in there, everyone. We all know it’s going to happen, but it’s nice to have a little more info about “when” from this site. :)

I’m so sorry this turned out to be so long. I wasn’t even planning on writing anything today. You rock, RQ. You have done a very, very cool thing here.

  25. maisey13 Says:

    Campgirl14

I am LID 12-26-05…so I am right there with you! Our agency has told us NOTHING, so this blog and the forum are a life line to those who are enduring the wait. In fact, go to the Ded LID section of the forum and you will find lots of support!

  26. Campgirl14 Says:

I have never gone there. I will check it out for sure.
    Thanks!!
