Don’t forget to help the Guatemala families out

I’ve got a very busy day today, so I’m just going to post a reminder to please help the Guatemala families and babies out by making some phone calls or sending some faxes.

Please, please, write to your senators and the director of Unicef. Perhaps in a perfect world, children would be raised in their birthcountries by their birthfamilies (as Unicef desires.) But we all know it is NOT a perfect world. Children are hungry, they are victimized, and they are living without the love of a family, despite the fact that so many of us desire to open our hearts and lives to them. Please help these children!!!

Oh, and RQ, you ROCK for giving this so much attention! Thanks for caring about the kids!

Ditto everything “east and west” said. Thank you so much for helping us bring our babies home.

I hope people take the time to make these phone calls. I did it this morning and it took less than 5 minutes to make 4 phone calls and send one email. We have two good friends who will be caught in this mess if they are not grandfathered in. My heart breaks for them.

Yes, I agree….please take time out to do this!

This just posted on my agency’s yahoo group:
President Berger has signed an ammendment to allow those “in process” to proceed with their adoptions even after Jan. 1, 2008!!!!!!! Praise God!!!!! Now if Guatemala can get it in gear to get up to speed by April 1, 2008, which I am not sure if all adoptions will seize at that time or not?

    DragonFly –
When was this posted? I have looked everywhere and can’t find anything that states this. GuatAdopt doesn’t mention it either. Not doubting you – just don’t want to get my hopes up.

This would be such great news, I have friends who are waiting for their pink slip to travel and this is such a stressful time for them. I pray that things work out for them and they can bring their children home.

I don’t think this has been confirmed by JCICS since it appeared on the boards yesterday. I wish it were true, but I’m skeptical until I see it in big red capital letters on the main page of guatadopt.com or jcics.org. Crossing my fingers though….

I’ve done a few news searches and don’t see anything on it there, either.
