do we know anything about the Review room progress? No one in the Sept LID room has gotten questions, do we know where the majority of questions are being asked now?
October 24th, 2007 at 5:00 pm
Not to sound stupid, but I thought that at some point I read that matching had actually been done month in advance. Maybe this was a rumor? Sometimes it is hard to keep fact and rumor straight. At any rate, if matching is taking place now, how long does it usually take for referrals to be sent?
October 24th, 2007 at 5:01 pm
Sounding selfish for a minute here:
It’s about time CCAA focused on US! C’mon December…
Again, what does this mean though if matching occurs ahead of time? Deciding on how many of us get off this rollercoaster???
I know it’s that time of the month (har, what a meaning that has taken on), but when I read this, my heart jumped about 10 stories in the air!

I hope to see anything soon!!

Wow - the thought of “getting of this rollercoaster” sounds grand - bring on referrals and please include the 7th!

Can I ask a dumb question? I guess I don’t understand how it works exactly. I thought matching happened throughout the month. If they start matching at the end of the month, what are the matching room people doing during the rest of the month. How long does matching typically take. Again, sorry to sound dumb, but I’m new and learning.

lizyrose,
check out the “important posts” section on the right hand side of the blog. There is a whole detailed explanation of the matching room. it’s good stuff.
And as far as i’m concerned, YAY FOR THE MATCHING!!! Come on Dec!!

Question Is anyone else having trouble pulling up the “new” post on the CCAA site? Looks like they’ve added a message but the site will not let you acess, I get “string error” post. Tried on a couple of diffrent computors to the same effect. M

C’mon CCAA! I think some matching has already taken place, but this means things are moving along again! Yippee! I’m so ready to see my little girl’s face! Oh My! I’m feeling a little overwhelmed!

Maybe they are going through the matched dossiers to see how many referrals they can send out. I really feel like they wait and see how many SN referrals are given out each month and then they fill the rest with NSN. Just my thoughts!
5/29/06 and waiting and waiting and waiting….
October 24th, 2007 at 5:45 pm
RQ,
How long after the matching process are referrals usually sent out? Can you give us an average timeframe? I am just so happy that things are moving along. It won’t be long now :)

crazy4emily - Thanks for the response. I did read that article earlier, it was really interesting. I guess I was thinking it took most of the month to match the babies to the families, and not as much time matching the orphanages to the agencies. Anyway - I hope they make it to your LID and beyond!!

Keeping my fingers crossed for the December families that they give us a big ole’ batch this time!
October 24th, 2007 at 6:17 pm
Come on referrals- lets get far this month!!!!!
October 24th, 2007 at 6:17 pm
how long does matching go on before they send out referrals?
October 24th, 2007 at 6:34 pm
I’ve started following the RQ’s site recently and got into it when all the delay with Nov was going on, so I really feel for all the Dec LID’s: I’m so happy for you with this recent rumor!!!! I can’t wait to hear the good news! One question though, how do you cope with knowing that any minute now you’ll be hearing the best news there can be? I try to imagine ourselves just days or weeks before referral and think I would be more than hormonal, I can’t think that I would be able to function at all! Well, I guess I have nothing intelligent to say, just that I’m very happy for you and wish you all the very best!
October 24th, 2007 at 7:53 pm
Matching WHO has begun? If it’s true that some December even January families have already been matched, who are they matching now? I’m assuming other December families? Does it work like the Review Room? Some matchers get farther with their stacks each month than others? What ever it may be, I’m optimistic. I started the baby’s nursery yesterday and I thinking positive thoughts! Don’t let me down again, CCAA… this put this ride in 5th gear!
October 24th, 2007 at 8:04 pm
…..Crossing my fingers, toes, arms, legs and anything else I can think of….. make December come in with BIG ##’s …
October 24th, 2007 at 8:08 pm
DaisyandCamilo,
It’s really weird. After waiting so long and having so many disappointments it’s actually been difficult to get excited. I have to keep telling myself that it’s OK to be excited and that it really will happen this time. Sometimes it hits me that I’m truly just a couple of weeks from seeing my baby’s face and I just get chills and want to scream with joy! My brain tells me we really are next but my heart is so tired from being stomped on that I kind of don’t know what to think or feel anymore. Please don’t misunderstand, I’m am absolutely thrilled at being so close, but the real celebration won’t begin until the wonderful day when I see her precious face. I hope it’s soon. Come on December!

PS. Here’s some proof that I’m losing it. Last night I dreamt that when we got to China to pick up our daughter she was a six year old white girl with freckles.
October 24th, 2007 at 8:38 pm
BabyShae,
I am right there with you. I know I should be jumping up and down with you but I find that I am so guarded right now! I also dreamt that my daughter had blonde hair!!!! I know we should be a shoe in for this batch of referrals but I find that I was more excited last month ( and then crushed) than I am this month. Maybe next week I will get more excited.
I guess my fear is that our agency will get another big batch of SN referrals, which was the case last month, ( which would be great for SN families!) and we would be put off another month.
Please include the 5th CCAA!!!!!

October 24th, 2007 at 8:46 pm
Well BabyShae,
I was going to say: You are next, it can only get better now! You’ve passed the long-long wait (which we still have to do and worst of all we don’t even know how long: 2, 3, 5 years?), but after reading adomom’s reply I am afraid too and I think I understand what you mean.
All I can do is send you and everybody else good thoughts, many many good thoughts.

A previous poster smartly questioned ” WHO are they matching’ meaning that since we’ve now been led to believe that they match way ahead of time, what does ‘matching has begun’ really mean? Here’s what I think it means, I think it just means that the matching that had been going on for weeks ( or maybe months) has basically been completed/formalized and is ready to be signed off. if this is the agency i think it is, the ‘matching has begun’ usually means referrals are pretty close… it might be interesting to keep track of when they say this, and when referrals actually arrive, and see if there is a pattern!

BabyShae,
When I was waiting to travel for my 8 month old daughter, I dreamt that on Gotcha Day a 4 year old girl walked up to me and said in perfect English (even though she was Chinese) “I hate the name Molly so you will call me Chen and here is a list of the foods I won’t eat!” Needless to say, on Gotcha Day, I was handed a 8 month old who was beautiful. She is now 2 1/2, loves her name and eats everything!

2cats1toddler,
That is so funny! You are the 4th person today to tell me that they had similar dreams near the end of this long, bumpy ride. Fortunately. like daisyandcamilo said, it can only get better now. I’m glad your little one is doing so well:)
October 24th, 2007 at 9:37 pm
I agree with babyshae’s comments. I am excited “knowing ” that we early Dec LIDs will be getting pictures very soon. But we have been there before and it is very hard not to be a little skeptical at this point. And yes - it does make you hormonal! Like the rest of December families we are more than ready to get off the ride. Here’s hoping that next week brings great news. We are so ready to see our girl’s sweet face!!!

Your dream gave me a good laugh, thanks!

Babyshae,
I sincerely hope your referral will be in the next batch and I’m sorry, but your dream made me laugh.
When we were waiting for our daughter I used to see her in my dreams, but I could never see her face. I guess I just knew she would have black hair and eyes.

DaisyandCamilo-
Welcome to this site. It’s a great place made up of wonderful folks that know JUST what you are going through during this wait. I am sure you will learn a lot and, hopefully, feel the community and support that is so necessary in this journey of adoption.
In response to your question on what it is like to know you’ll be seeing your baby’s face within the next week or two, I’d have to say that, for me, it was difficult to come out of the emotional deep freeze I had put myself in. It was the only way for me to survive the monthly disappointment of the increasing wait. We all have our own ways of dealing with the disappointment.
Even when I saw my daughter’s face on the computer monitor, I just sort of sat there, looked at her, and asked questions of the person from the agency who had called…. TOTAL numbness. It took about a half an hour for it to hit. I was actually sitting in my classroom (the students had left for the day) when I received my referral. It wasn’t until I was about to walk in the front office to sign out for the day that the full reality of what had just happened really hit me. I started bawling (and I am NOT a cryer) as I showed her picture to my colleagues. It is a surreal experience.

Thanks for sharing your pix of Isabel. What a little dolly! She’s adorable. By the way, I think “emotional deep freeze” is a perfect way to describe the way it feels to be at this point. I didn’t even realize that I had made myself numb until it became time to celebrate and I was finding it so difficult. I am sure it’s different for others but it is good to know that some people feel the same way I do. I am sure that there are some that are thinking that me and others are being drama queens or something but I just wanted to share because someone asked and I know that I enjoy hearing from people about what they are going through even if I don’t understand or don’t feel the same way.By the way, we did purchase a great bottle of Dom Perignon for our upcoming referral day.

To BabySahe and Adomom lots of cyber hugs! Mom2Isabel, thanks for making me feel so welcome. I just started posting and I feel I don’t have much to share just good wishes and questions, lots of questions… And I’m a bit shy. And since you mentioned the dream thing, about 3 or 4 nights ago I too dreamt that we had our baby (oops, we must have jumped the line or something happened and everything went very fast) but it was a boy with glasses whose name was Chris (we requested a girl)… I woke up bemused!

What does it mean if matching has begun in terms of when we could expect to hear about matches made/people recieving pics of their kids?
