Sleep?
Did any of you Dec 1-8 people get any sleep at all last night? And, to have this be the one weekend a year that is actually longer than all the other weekends, seems especially twisted somehow. But, it is Monday at last, and hopefully you managed to get a decent night’s sleep, because today will be an emotional rollercoaster. I remember with both my girls, hearing where they lived, when they were born, when they arrived at the orphanage. And then researching their orphanage, finding a picture of it online. Wow, talk about an emotional moment, seeing a picture of the building that your child is in, before you’ve seen a picture of your child.
And then, that first look at the pictures of your child. Wow. I need to stop before I start crying at work.
To all of you about to experience this - congratulations!!!!

I took an Advil pm last night and it helped but I still only got 5 hours! I’m worried that when we finally get the call today I’ll be in a groggy haze but I doubt it….too much adrenaline! Who needs sleep anyway? Plenty of time for that when I’m old:)
November 5th, 2007 at 10:22 am
I got some sleep only because I took a Benedryl! But I’ve been up since early and have already worked out on the treadmill, cleaned my bathroom, vacuumed, showered, and of course looked at this site a bazillion times. I am dying for that phone to ring! I really can’t wait to know her name, birth date, and where she is right now!
November 5th, 2007 at 10:23 am
So babyshae, have you showered or will the phone and laptop be going in the shower with you! heh! I knew you’d be the first one to post here!

I took tylenol simply sleep. I slept, but not great. And mostly I was dreaming about THE CALL! Got up 545…which is so strange for me. I love to sleep!! Even managed to get a 20 min walk in before breakfast.
I keep looking at the phone going RING, RING!! Like that would work!! LOL

You guessed it adoptingliberty! I’ve got my phone and my laptop and heading to take a shower right now. That really does sound terrible doesn’t it???? Somehow I know you guys will never let me live that one down :)
November 5th, 2007 at 10:28 am
When do you guys think we will start hearing something?
November 5th, 2007 at 10:34 am
RQ,
Thank you so much for sharing and being such a wonderful support for all the adoption community. I know your information has been such a valuable tool for my family and we truly couldn’t have made it without you! You are the best!!

I remember…I remember. I had briefed the consultant I was working with in the same office. When I got THE call, I KNEW, he looked at me and silently and gently left the office.
The woman from the agency told me “you’ve got a nice little doll”…The “doll” is five now and she is still the nicest human doll I’ve never got to see.

RQ,
Your story is making me cry! Thank you for sharing that!!! Everytime I think of the phone ringing I start crying. I just hope I am coherent enough to ask the questions!!!
Call me flighty but I did not think about researching where she was born and seeing pictures of that today too! What an emotional rollercoaster I am on!

I stayed busy this weekend but it got really hard last night. I jumped out of bed this morning, no “snoozing” for 3-4 times like usual! Got to work early and it’s official-I’m a total basket case now! I did get permission to skip a meeting this morning-my boss was really cool about it!

Babyshae,
It only sounds terrible if you have a soundtrack playing. Something like, “Bow chicka bow bow!” with a heavy 70’s riff.
Congrats on the new addition to your family. Looking forward to seeing her picture!

I don’t know how you East Coast people are handling this! It’s only 7am here and I’m already stir-crazy! Any tips?
November 5th, 2007 at 11:09 am
vttoonses, you are in this batch right?
November 5th, 2007 at 11:13 am
I don’t know if I would want to meet vttoonses. It sounds like he knows an awful lot about naughty 70s movies.

Like RQ said, it is a day like no other! Simple amazing and only topped by the first time you meet your child. My youngest has been home for 7 months and I still looked at her each day in disbelief at how fortunate we are. She’s incredible!!!!
Congratulations to all the growing families!

AL - They have excellent plot and character development!
Babyshae - As far as meeting in China goes, I don’t know. It’s a big country. What are the chances that our paths will cross?
November 5th, 2007 at 11:22 am
I was up late last night and tossed and turned all night.
We still aren’t sure if we will get the call today…our agency said “early next week”. So hopefully that means today and not tomorrow.
Can’t wait to see referral photos getting posted!!!
I’m so excited!!!

After a week of little sleep I finally resorted to Tylenol PM and got about six hours of sleep. Tylenol PM usually keeps me in a fog until about noon the following day, but I bounced out of bed early and have been hyper all morning - although I haven’t gotten anything accomplished besides answering phone calls and email saying, “No, we haven’t heard anything YET!”

Congrats to all of you who will be getting that call today!! We are so happy for you and celebrating our own little mile stone today as well. My daughter Miah was placed in my arms eight months ago today and every day brings just a little more joy! We can not wait to see your little angels too.

I have been cleaning the house like a mad woman to burn the time. Goodwill will be getting a van load today. Last time the news came in the afternoon. At this rate the house will be renovated by that time :)
I love this site…
November 5th, 2007 at 11:46 am
Like others — very little sleep these days. This morning I awoke at 3:12AM. I’m not positive that I’ll hear today (if not today, I think Tuesday for sure). In spite of the insomnia, I feel very calm. And very very happy for all the good news that is soon to be posted.

I’m in trouble! I didn’t sleep last night just with the sheer excitement for an online friend who is awaiting her referral. Also, a different friend received her referral last November and with the stats over the past year I’m anticipating that my 03/23/06 LID may receive our referrals in November of next year. Put all that together and it’s a sleepless night of excitement.
Congrats to all who will receive their referrals in the next couple of days!

I am so excited for everyone - it brings back so many memories of the day we learned that our daughter was waiting for us in Fuling. I was telling a friend about it, and I teared up just remembering it - and it has been over 3 years! What a wonderous, special day you have in store today - I will be thinking about you all!
November 5th, 2007 at 12:31 pm
When is my phone going to ring!!!!! It’s one of those days you want to call the operator and have her test the line!!!! (do they have operators anymore?)
November 5th, 2007 at 12:52 pm
Congratulations. This is a feeling like no other. Although we didn’t receive referrals but rather connected to our
children through words and photgraphs, it is still an amazing experience to finally bring them home. The joy is endless and the love amazing. Enjoy! Enjoy! Then go
shopping like crazy lol.
