Well at least it isn’t fewer days, which is what tends to happen after the initial rumor. Still nothing to be excited about for those of us with LIDs well into 2006.
November 30th, 2007 at 1:10 pm
Or for those of us in 2007.
November 30th, 2007 at 1:36 pm
But it’s sure something for ME to get excited about!!! (LID 14 Dec 05)
I just scared my 8 yr old and the dog at my feet hollering WOO HOOOOO! :)
I’m having trouble sleeping lately… the past few nights I am up way past midnight just wondering… not unlike the last week of pregnancy when I had a hard time sleeping!

Congrats Sherry!
It’s a bit of a bummer if it is true, but at least they are moving forward.
November 30th, 2007 at 2:06 pm
Enjoy Sherry and I can live vicariously through you! Same goes for all the rest of you who are next. I will be just like you Sherry when it is my turn, will not sleep a wink.

I forgot to add congratulations to everyone who will see their babies for the first time hopefully next week. I can’t wait to see pictures. Pictures of your babies are what keep me going!

I feel strangely calm and patient. I have been thinking Dec 5 would be the day. I hope I’m right! For all of you who will miss this batch by one day, it’s actually the most certain feeling in this entire process to *know* you are next. Helps with planning too!!

I spoke to my agency today and they have no news other then our tentative travel plans on 1/18-1/31 with gotcha day on 1/21!!! It’s all backwards getting our plans first!!!! Chinese New Year starts Feb 1 so we need to be out by then. It’s just so exciting to have some news and know they want us to go quickly!!! Our last adoption it was so hard waiting to know when we can go now I already know. Now if I could only get a picture!!!
November 30th, 2007 at 4:20 pm
Ok…I’m officially excited too. Sherry, I haven’t slept the last few nights either…but I didn’t even make the connection! I guess there are too many things running around in my head and heart right now. Yippee for those through 12/14 and hugs to everyone still waiting.

Hi all,
After being referred last month we finally got our picture from our little girl.
Last 12 months we have been viewing this site in agony.
So our hopes are with you that they will get over the 14th this time.
Last month we were just in having a LID of 12/8/2005
Although our site is in Dutch we placed especially for you all some information on our little girl named Mika Su at http://www.mika-uit-china.blogspot.com , and offcourse the PICTURES !!!

premohler, are you saying you are expecting your referral in the next batch? What’s your LID? I’ve never heard of having travel plans before getting a referral. You must be excited!
November 30th, 2007 at 5:21 pm
Blueberry: Thanks for sharing with us and even though your wait was four years or so, it is SOOO good to see the face of your adorable child. Congratulations! We hope to be in your shoes as soon as possible.
My word is “Hunan” the province of my first daughter! Great way to remember the way I felt at the end of the FIRST long waiting. I’ll try to get there this time with optimism.

I want to get excited. I feel like I should be excited…this month has been so weird, with no rumors for so long etc…and now tomorrow is December…December 1st – 24 months after our paperwork left on a plane for China exactly! I never ever thought that any tally of any dates in our wait for our first child would ever count as high as 24 months!
I’m trusting Sherry’s gut here and letting myself get a smidge excited – I just want to know one way or another at this point!
I do admit to being at Gymboree today on my day off and buying an adorable outfit, “just in case!”
Here’s hoping!

Blueberry, Your baby is absolutely beautiful. I am so excited for you and all the other Mom’s that will hold their precious babes soon.
I so look forward to reading your emails and getting excited with you all. Your excitement carries me through the waiting time. I don’t care that I cry once a month when the babies faces get posted because it’s like Christmas every time I hear people start to getting their referrals.
In the meantime, I bought some books for our son for Christmas. I bought “Just add One Chinese Sister” and “Waiting for May”. I got them in the mail yesterday. Last night my husband and I read them, the stories are so beautiful. The wierd part is Waiting for May refers to the baby whose name is May but right now we are hoping to get our referral in May. What a coincidence.
In the attempt to keep my sanity while we hear when the referral cut off actually is this month, I was wondering if anyone could tell me what the intercountry flights are like in China. Do they use puddle jumpers or are they using big jumbo size airplanes like they do across the US?

Our LID is 12-9-05. Our case worker made the plans wanting to get it done and have us out by 2-1. I’m sure it’s nothing more then hotels and confirming gotcha day, as she told me when it would be. She knows we planned on using FF miles and needed all the time I could get. Which I did make all my reservations. We are travelling with our almost 5 year old who is also from China. This is just too unreal, I have travel plans and no child! Best part is we are going bussiness elite the whole way and stopping at Hong Kong Disney on the way. Then laying over in Paris for a few days on the way back!

Echoing thoughts of 12/14′s who are having trouble leveling out anxiety/enthusiasm!!!! I had been secretly dreaming that we’d get “the call” on Tuesday — but if they haven’t been mailed yet, will we have to wait for most of next week??? I told DH – “how can I stand it?” — he started laughing… 24 months of LID-wait, and I can’t handle an extra week?
I’m trying to remain calm by getting into PJ’s early, ordering pizza delivery and curling up on the couch with a movie!
12/14/05 — c’mon referrals – get here and include us!! :-)

Blueberry!
What a gorgeous baby! She is so cute I want to eat her cheeks :) Congratulations on your referral — I remember the day I first saw my referral pictures I bawled like a baby myself. Now I’m in LOA-limbo-land and will probably be waiting until March or April to see my little Miss Pickles.
Congrats to all of you who’ll be seeing your new babies soon– and for those who’ll be waiting a little bit longer, we are all in there with you-

Welcomehomekelly/Stef…both of our incountry flights were puddle jumpers. One was from Hong Kong to Chongqing to Guangzhou, and our second was from Hong Kong to Nanchang (Jiangxi) to Guangzhou. I don’t know if it would be a bigger plane if the flight was longer…all our flights were less than 3 hours.

SherryinVermont,
I STILL can’t sleep and we leave for China a week from Wednesday!!! I am so happy for you and all the others about to see your babies faces. It’s one of the best moments in life hands down and even with the stress, worry and sleepless nights it is worth it which of course you all know or you wouldn’t put yourselves through this :) I am not sure it will feel completely real until we hold her in our arms but we truly knew when we saw our baby that we were hopelessly and forever in love with her. Hang in there guys!

I think the 12/14 people will definitely be in. I wonder if this is a reputable agency saying the 14th?? Like many people have said it is weird, you are not hearing that some people have been told they are in or out this month. It is strangely quiet with this lurking 12/14 cut-off. Who knows for me I will prepare for that and really question a referral in January as that would require an 8 day batch which is not something that has happened often this year! Congrats to all of you that will see your little one’s very soon!

Unfortunately, I think the cutoff is the 14th. My agency confirmed the 14th as the cutoff and they do not have a December LID. Every time they have told us a cutoff they have been right. I was so hoping we would see something more significant this month but just more of the same! Congratulations to the families receiving referrals this month!

premohler,
Congrats on being next! I was wondering about the Paris trip though. Your daughter will leave China w/ her Chinese passport. If you stop in Europe she will need a visa to enter (the schengen visa). Well, that is based on me guessing that you are American and not European!! Hope you are out enjoying this weekend!
December 1st, 2007 at 12:10 pm

Yes, we will need a visa. Our agency will get it for us. We stopped off last trip in Paris and did Euro Disney. The little break gave us a chance to be a family and have some fun before we got home. China is not exactly a vacation. Congratualtions to all who will get our referral!!
December 1st, 2007 at 2:17 pm
In regard to premohler’s anticpated travel plans…in my opinion it is quite strange that an agency would even speak of travel dates before a referral is issued. I don’t want to be a killjoy, but there are a lot of steps that still need to take place before travel dates can be nailed down. Obviously, first there needs to be a referral…as we have seen in other months, sometimes crazy things happen and people don’t receive a referral with the rest of the match group even though their LID is the same. Then the referral needs to be accepted and paperwork needs to be sent back to the CCAA. Then they must issue travel approval, and finally your agency must secure an appointment with the Consulate. None of these steps fall within a set time frame. I think it’s irresponsible of an agency to say “this is when you’re traveling”, even tentatively, when none of these other steps have taken place. I basically don’t want anyone else on this board to think that this is the norm because it is not, or at least it’s not with my agency and I assume most others.

Jejoel, Our agency has indicated when we are likely to travel though we haven’t gotten our referral yet. I don’t see it as a big deal and I think everyone realizes the situation is fluid. Premohler, have fun in Paris!

Premohler:
Are you in the US?
with regards to Chinese New Year, it actually starts February 7, 2008 not the 1st.
December 2nd, 2007 at 8:12 am
Jejoel, anyone who hangs out on these web boards knows it’s highly unusual. Calling an agency irresponsible is the opposite of how I feel. They want to unite us with our child as quickly as possible. They also told me when the consolute appointment is.
They obviously know more then we do.
December 2nd, 2007 at 10:16 am
All agencies want to unite their parents with their children as quickly as possible. If they already know the date of your consulate appointment, then that means something out of the ordinary is happening with your agency and the Consulate. Appointments can’t be officially made without travel approval and travel approval obviously can’t be issued without a referral. I’m just saying it’s REALLY STRANGE. And this may be the first thread anyone has read on this board and I just wanted to point out that it is NOT the norm. I hope your dates are correct and I hope you have a wonderful trip.
December 2nd, 2007 at 9:19 pm
Premohler..can I ask, does your agency routinely have travel plans, and CA’s before referral???
December 3rd, 2007 at 1:11 pm
jejoel…contrary to your belief, I think many agencies have an idea and make travel plans ahead of referral. Of course these plans are useless if referrals do not come in at an expected time. That is why they are plans and not an itinerary.
Consular appointments have changed immensely between our first and second adoption. For our first, it was an intimate appointment lasting about an hour, for our second it was a very large group who all raised hands and we were done, negating the need to actually ‘make an appointment’ as if scheduling a doctor’s appointment. Although I guess MD’s can see a lot of people at a time also!
If we see our referral this week (LID 12/14/2005) our agency has suggested we will travel in January as opposed to February.
Our agency does not assume and guess at things and are very quiet now. We’ll get what we get when the time is right. But they do make travel plans for us, perhaps you are unfamiliar with this concept?
December 3rd, 2007 at 3:58 pm
I get the “concept.” I just think it can be disappointing to have travel dates in mind that might not pan out, so I wonder why an agency would even speculate since they can vary within several weeks. I know that the groups from other agencies who received referrals in our match group were in China meeting their children when other agencies didn’t even have their TA’s yet, let alone consulate appointments. We had the group appointment, too, so I get that. You still have to have an appointment, though. I just think it would be awful to think you’re leaving on a particular date and then not leave for several weeks later.
December 4th, 2007 at 9:51 pm
I have been around China adoption since 1996. And I have never heard of an agency making travel arrangements prior to referral. Nor have I ever heard of them getting a Consulate appointment prior to referral. Sounds like something is amuck. Though I hope not. It just seems like more “weird” stuff is happening with China adoption everyday. Scares me to say the least.
