New Monthly Poll
I’ve put together a new poll. If your LID Is between January 2006 and August 2007 (inclusive) then please click here to vote in the poll. If you are using AOL then you may not be able to vote – sorry about that, but there isn’t really any way around it if I want to try to stop duplicate votes from the same IP address.
Remember, the months that are closer are going to show bigger than months that are farther out. This is because people who are one to three months from a referral are a lot more likely to be here en masse than people who are 10 months away from a referral. I realize there are people who are here who are 10 months from a referral, but percentage wise, not as many as those who are much closer.
Sorry I wasn’t around yesterday. I was sick and slept almost 24 hours straight, woke up long enough to eat and then slept through the night. I seem to be mostly alive today. So far.
Don’t forget, the premier of Ni Hao Kai-lan is this morning on Nickelodeon at 11:00 Eastern.
And, finally, it appears that the Chinese Government has enacted a labor law designed to protect (amongst others) contract employees. You can read a little about it here. I’m guessing that this has something to do with the CCAA letting their contract employees go. Only time will tell if they choose to hire some of them back or not.

Happy New Year RQ…thanks for this information and I hope you feel bettter soon.

RQ:
Hope you are feeling better. Perhaps the CCAA terminated all those workers because it was their last chance to do so before the new law took effect. Maybe they can hire them back and start over?
I asked my agency about this, but so far they are silent so I guess they may trying to figure how it is going to affect things before letting all of us clients know.

My agency said they lost a good contact there and did not mention that she was being re-asigned. if it’s like what we have at my place there has to be a period of time before they can be re-hired and to talk of doing it before would not be kosher. Nice to finaly see my month on the polls, not much but at ths rate I’ll take every little milestone I can. Talk about the long march!
February 7th, 2008 at 11:20 am
I had the same thought as Jiake’sparents/Drew regarding recent layoffs. Perhaps the CCAA knew that this law was coming and laid off their contract workers right before it went into effect.

RQ… I am 6/6/06 LID…and I have aol and can not vote…not sure if you can add that or if it even matters…but just letting you know.

Oh poo! I’m with AOL and can’t vote. I wonder how many of us won’t be able to vote and how that will affect the poll.
Happy Chinese New Year everyone!
February 7th, 2008 at 11:46 am
Feel better RQ and Thanks for the info.
Happy New Year!

The timing of letting the contract employees go and this new law going into effect seems to close to me for it to be a coincidence. Interesting.
Presumably the fraction of people with AOL is unrelated to what their LID is so, as frustrating as it is not to vote, it shouldn’t effect the overall trends and relative numbers of votes. Assuming that past polls had the same limitation, these numbers can be compared to past numbers and so from a prediction standpoint, it shouldn’t effect the poll result at all.
February 7th, 2008 at 11:52 am
Hmmm… I’m NOT with AOL, but when I try to vote it tells me that’s I’ve already voted… even though I know I haven’t. Bummer, because I wanted to vote in my first-ever poll!
RQ, I’m LID May 2007 if you want to add it to the poll. Thanks!
February 7th, 2008 at 12:52 pm
Sorry you’ve been sick RQ. I’m glad you are feeling better today.
Happy New Year everyone!
February 7th, 2008 at 12:53 pm
I am with aol and had the problem of being told I had already voted 3 days ago, but then for some reason, it let me vote yesterday. I’m not sure why that is, but was glad to be able to vote.
February 7th, 2008 at 1:26 pm
I also read where the release of the workers took place before new laws went into effect which would have made these employees costlier to the employer. At least there is nothing sinister about the layoffs, at least I hope.
RQ– You may want to remind all of us in the realm to avoid voting twice. I voted from my computer at work and then when I got home on my personal computer I had to stop myself from voting again–I saw all the little blank holes–and I could easily have voted again without even thinking much about it.
Glad you are on the mend.

Hope you get better soon RQ. My eyes were drawn to the April 2007 LID’s and it looks like that month is going to be a doozy. We all just love the polls.

I’d be curious to know how many people with late LID’s are viewing this site regularly. I would agree that more people are on as their date gets closer. I’ve been through that. But while awaiting #2 I have been checking things regularly very early in the process due to the craziness going on in the program. My LID is a sad and lonely 11/20/07. I may have to go get my second daughter with a cane and some geritol in hand. :)

For those of you who might be interested, the first episode of Ni Hao, Kai-Lan is a free download on i-tunes right now! It’s very cute. My daughter will be able to watch it endlessly on my laptop now! That’s a good thing right? At least it will be a break from Elmo and Little Mermaid. :)
Happy Year of Rat to Everyone!!

Stefanieneric,
Here is a fellow 2007 LID. I’m a few months earlier than you, in June, but reading everything I can while we wait for DD #2.
February 7th, 2008 at 2:22 pm
I’m a march 2007 and I’ve been on line since spring 2006 when I found the site . I’m an ifo junkie so where ever I can hunt out tidbits. My agency is one of the online agencys. Not compleatly operational yet but it will help with placing of sn. I hope it also goes as far as hooking up with orphanages so that later on there can be early conatct with orphanages to help get better care while we wait.

Hope you’re feeling better, RQ!
Thanks for creating a poll that includes me for the first time!! ( LID 8/07)
February 7th, 2008 at 4:26 pm
We were able to view the new Nick Jr. show Ni Hao Kai-Lan on Comcast On Demand (West Coast) this past weekend. They had a few 2 minute shows and a full length. My 3yo daughter really liked it! I hope they keep running it.
We have a LID of 3/07 and view this site several times a week. It makes us feel a little “connected” to our child – even though it’s going to be a long time before we meet him/her.
Thanks RQ for all of your information. Take care

RQ…get well soon!!
Can anyone tell me how many LIDs there was for each month in 2006? I am trying to compare the recent poll results with previous polls for 2006 so I guess I’m only interested in those that voted.
I hope that makes sense. What I’m actually trying to do is derive the exact moment in time when we’ll get our referral :)
Congratulations to all the new parents! Those babies are precious!

It will be interesting to see how many of us logged in September 2006 are still there. It was a big month there for a while.
Hope you feel better RQ. YOu must have really needed to sleep!
February 7th, 2008 at 6:15 pm
Boy! I knew the next months could look bigger but March 2006 seems to be a monster month just as October and November 2005 were… :o(
February 7th, 2008 at 6:28 pm
RQ, so sorry you’ve been sick! I hope you feel much better very soon.
And thankyou, thankyou for the new poll. So far, Jan06 is not looking much smaller than March.
Here I was hoping Jan was much smaller than monster March to get through! Phhht ;-(
February 7th, 2008 at 8:28 pm
Will someone explain to me about log in dates? Are there certain days of the months for log in dates or is it whenever they get batches? Like, about how many log in dates a month are there and about how many referrals are given out a month ? (normally). Thanks, LID 12/06
February 7th, 2008 at 9:09 pm
Happy new year everyone! Hope you’re feeling better, RQ.
February 7th, 2008 at 10:50 pm
Yikes March 2006 is gonna be a killer! How does MArch 06 compare with November 2005?
February 8th, 2008 at 4:00 am
Log in dates seem to be about everyday of the month. Mine is 1/12/06 and I was counting down on my agencies list and then all of a sudden it seemed there were dates they didn’t have listed. I assumed at the time that log ins were only about once a week. So now to keep my head above water I assume they are every day. If someone has the info we would love to hear it My agency has 7 lids for march of 06 some are duplicate days, December only had 5th,12th,20th 20th and nothing more. Well the duplicate dates were doosies, they only Jan 4 jan 12(me) and two 20ths so I am guessing thats a big one. Anyone have additional dates for Dec and Jan ?
February 8th, 2008 at 8:49 am
Last summer the poll indicated that November 2005 had 450 RQ applicants and in December 2006 it was 519.
It seems that March 2006 will be a real monster too and January not really for from it. This will be very long again… :o(

jadelinsmom:
People are logged in pretty much every single day. Obviously when the CCAA is closed, no one gets logged in. They are closed on Chinese holidays and most weekends. However, they do sometimes work weekends, so people do get logged in on the weekends occasionally. In my own countdown, I just count every single day as a log in day, even if there might be a day or two that isn’t.
