Nothing yet this morning

I can’t see that any news broke overnight.

A few people asked how soon after the announcement of “matching has begun” we usually see referrals arrive.

I believe the correct answer is “anywhere between 6 hours and 2 weeks, but usually within about five days”.

On a personal note, I am so.done.with.winter. I want the air to be saturated with that beautiful color of green when leaves first come out on the trees. I want short sleeves and crop pants. I want to go outside and feel warmth.

I am with you….I long to wear flip-flops!!!

  2. waitingforlaurali Says:

I am with you RQ. I can’t wait for spring. I am sitting hear trying to decide if I want to go out and shovel, then make the hour long trip to my internship. I have no clients today and they told me to stay home if the roads are bad. Hmmmm…they could be bad.

Anyway. I’m too tired to shovel..Isn’t that pathetic?

  3. sewhopeful22 Says:

I just want to have a day we don’t have to shovel snow, clear ice or scape cars…

  4. wait4ever Says:

I agree! The time goes so much faster over the spring and summer. We are so much more active and I love to be outside. Congrats to everyone getting their referrals. I hope for a BIG batch! Has anyone heard if they are moving ahead in the review room?? LID1-17-07 Thanks

  5. scrapping in ontario Says:

I’m with you!!! We had one day in the past 3 months that we were able to see grass and now it’s buried under 3′ of snow again and they’re calling for more snow for the next 5 days. Yup….Ready for spring and REFERRALS ending in 2006!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  6. Calamity4e Says:

That is a GREAT BIG “DITTO” on the tired of Winter theme!

I’m all for feeling some warmth in the air, getting rid of all this snow, and lolling about in capris and short sleeves.

  7. marlo2b2 Says:

Spring next month???? I better get on that diet!

  8. uk marion Says:

We haven’t had any snow(as usual )this winter and are hoping to see plenty when we go skiing, although I fear with it being so late in the season(easter) the snow will be quite icy in the morning and soft and churned in the afternoon.
Still, nothing like sun and blue skies in the mountains,(French Alps). We’ve had plenty of sun and blue skies here recently(no it doesn’t always rain in the UK especially in the South! lol) and only a few days when we’ve had to scrape the ice off the car.

Here’s to a big batch of referrals, so looking forward to seeing 2006!

    Marion.

  9. flash95 Says:

Totally agaree with you on the snow thing. It’s so cold, gray and snowy here that every year from January 1 - March 15 I ask myself “Why do we live here?” Then I usually ask myself that same question again when we get that last surprise snowstorm in April…sometimes even May!

  10. YR Says:

BRRRRRR! It is freezing out today. And that ground hog lied, again! Hoping we hear some really good rumours (that come true) very soon. I long for 2006.

  11. babydreamer Says:

What a coincidence, I was just saying yesterday afternoon that I want to just slip my feel into my sandals to leave the house. So sick of wool socks and boots.

  12. luvluv Says:

RQ, has there been any word on the meeting that was supposed to happen after Chinese New Year at CCAA?
As far as the weather, I agree. Yet, wonder WHY I just booked a trip to ski trip Colorado for spring break! I must be nuts!

  13. dutchdeb Says:

OOO, I am sooo with you! On march 8th, we go skiïng and I can not wait, but the spring may begin!!
I bought new clothes for my DD for this spring and summer. Way to much! Can not wait to see her in those pretty clothes!!
BTW… the sun is shining here in Holland, but the wind is soooo cold.
The sun will come out and warm us all when there is a big batch this time (we can hope and dream ;-)

  14. penelope1 Says:

    RQ,

I’m with you on that! I’m so tired of winter and snow!!

I want to wear my short sleeve shirts, capris/crop pants and most importantly I want to wear my sandals & flip flops.

    Have a nice day.

    Lisa.

  15. Luna Says:

I can’t wait for the first warm day when I can get out a lawn chair and sit in the sun. Ahhhhhhhh, to feel the warmth on my face……….

  16. scandwaiting Says:

I am so done with all the bugs/germs that have been going around……I want those nasty little devils to GO away!

  17. cassiesmom Says:

May I invite all of you to join us in Florida? We might complain in July & August, but for now, I had to pull my jeans out of hiding this morning, because it may drop to 57 by dinnertime….We don’t have much in the way of seasons, but 95% of the time sandals and shorts are just fine…Theres always room for a few more!

  18. Nancy Says:

Anyone else besides me secretly waiting for the current LID poll to close so the numbers will stop growing and growing and growing!!? If we only get through the 4th this month, the rest of the queue is going to take FOREVER!

Still holding out hope for the 9th (based on absolutely nothing but a wish).

  19. patientlywaiting Says:

I live in an area of the country that has cloudy days 200 days of the year, All I want right now is a week or two of sun I don’t even care if it is cold.
    Bring on the SUN!

  20. waiting4kiera Says:

YIKES! Speaking of the poll, I just checked and April 2007 is scary! I’m LID 04/25/07. For obvious reasons, I can’t wait to see how long it takes to get through that month!
I am in Florida too. I am in the northern part of the state and woke to 33 degree weather. We had a cold front come through last night. Oh, I am so ready for spring, beach, boat, warm sun…..

  21. catherinethegreat Says:

RQ, I am with you; I am so done with winter..its freezing here and well I am so exhausted of shovelling snow…and to top it off I have a killer flu bug which I am petrified my poor baby will get…she has just started sleeping through the night…its sweeping through my house like a vicious snow storm…UGH!!

I say Friday is the day for referrals (its what I am hoping for)..

  22. suzielei Says:

If Florida is too hot, try Texas…we have winter and summer sometimes all in the same week. Monday the high us 88, today it is 37! Bad thing though, you have to have BOTH your winter and summer clothes out, makes for a messy closet!

    COME ON STORK!

  23. mtonkinson Says:

Anyone know why my emails are coming through saying lid cutoff is 1/4 are they just assuming? Winter gets a little dull but today the sun is so bright the reflection has everything looking so bright and crisp. We are out of snow days for the kids. If its March comes in like a lion and goes out like a lamb, and April showers bring may flowers, what are the rest of the months? Did I just forget or are there only two months with sayings?

  24. kbdelarosa Says:

RQ, you can come visit me in South Florida anytime! It was drizzly out this morning, but yesterday it was 78, breezy and sunny!

  25. Nana2Livi Says:

I echo the thoughts of spring. We have had a lot of “small” snows, just enough to provide a headachefor those trying to get somewhere. I am tired of shoveling snow, and I am tired of trying to remove ice. I just want to go outside and smell spring air.

  26. mom Says:

Rushing the spirit of spring….I am going for a pedicure tomorrow. Here’s hoping my flip flops don’t slide on the ice on the way back to the car!

UK MARION - We live in NY but my husband is English. We find that when we visit and tell of our impending adoption from China - we are met with suprise. It doesn’t seem to be as common there as in the US yet. I would love to hear your thoughts. If you have an opportunity….my e-mail is amyandstuart@optonline.net

  27. pettrout Says:

Our city just reached ‘the most snow in February on record” mark last night and today. As much as I appreciate the street and sidewalk plows, I can’t stand shoveling the piles they leave behind so we can get out of the driveway. :oP

As for cut-offs, I’m really hoping for *at least* 1/4/06 because one of the families from our first travel group will FINALLY get their long-awaited referral. (And another family from that group just got their referral from Vietnam — originally expected in November 2007. Guess it’s slower everywhere.)

Not sure how you all do it; I was a whack job after “only” 19 months. Of course, I drink a lot less now. ;o)

  28. mom222b Says:

We are just finishing our latest snow storm. Skiing was great yesterday in Mass. Sunday will be even better! The temps are dipping to 18 tomorrow for a high - I know I am in the miniority but I love the winter - and I was born in August.

As for referrals I am thinking the 4th will be the cut-off. I originally thought they would get through the 31st but I am going to raise my expectations to the 4th…how’s that for optimism :)

  29. bethsnow Says:

A hearty AMEN to the done.with.winter statement!!! Right outside my window there are HUGE puffy white flakes falling from the sky - the kind you long for at Christmastime. The longing has long since left me!!

    On a happier note… c’mon big batch. :)

  30. MyBabyGirl Says:

We have had tons of snow at our cabin but last weekend most of it was melted, except where they plowed and in places that are always shaded. But it was relatively warm, clear skies and the stars were out. We enjoyed sitting around the campfire with our cabin neighbors but definitely not flip flop or sandal weather. All we get at home is rain so I am ready for the sun in that respect.

I, too, can’t believe the numbers on the current poll. I would like to see that broken down by each day of the month.

    Have a great day all.

Cabin Fever is rampant here in NJ. We live where there are so many beautiful parks to wander but with the last batch of 8+ inches of snow and wind chills in the teens tonight, it will be a while until our daughter experiences the great outdoors.

  33. anna2me Says:

College baseball has started so it is spring for me. I am set until June 26! However, a few GOOD rumors and lots of LID’s referred would help, too!!!!!

  34. dixierufus Says:

I am sooooo looking forward to shorts and flipflops too!! We have daffodils, snowdrops, crocuses and tulips budding now and the days are getting longer……….smiling XXX

  35. Banany66 Says:

Cassiesmom-I love winter and skiing but I am so there. We just had our last ski weekend for the winter so I am so ready for summer. Florida sounds really great right now. I live at the Jersey shore and summer cannot come fat enough.
Hoping for big batches for everyone LID in January. Good Luck!

  36. Banany66 Says:

    Oops. Fast enough. LOL

  37. slanz Says:

CTG, I hope you feel better soon. My son had the flu last week. It was awful! He is back to school this week and feeling better.

    Can’t wait for referrals!

  38. hopesemper Says:

Can’t commiserate about winter. I live in South Florida and today we are getting ready for a “drop” in temperature since it will reach low 40s this evening. No snow, flip flaps all year round. Of course, we have to deal with Hurricane Season and very, hot and humid summers, but right now it is nice to live here.

I’m hopeful for a big batch of referals. I WANT MY BABY NOW!

  39. mummatomany Says:

well our summer is drawing to a close here in NZ! So hope to have a bit of warmth when we travel to China!!!!! So bring on those referrals!

Our first girl is from Jiangxi and that was the spam word! Maybe our second will be too!

  40. the_raudys Says:

Question about the process - I am confused by the posts that say “matching has begun.” Does that mean that they only actively match children with families right before they are sent out each month? I thought that they worked on that all month and only released them once each month?

  41. jadelinsmom Says:

Babies! Babies! Babies!! Referrals!! Referrals!! Referrals!!!!!! Come on chant with me Babies, Babies, Babies!!!Referrals, referrals, referrals!!!!!!

  42. nhjhawk Says:

This winter has been horrible, but this wait is even worse. As a 1-5-06er, I need some RUMORS!!!!!!!!!!!

  43. waiting4kiera Says:

Maybe tomorrow someone will throw us a bone - a nice juicy rumor!

But mainly, I’m ready for the BABIES!

  47. susiee Says:

Every day I have the same little dream - my DH surprising us by booking a trip to FL or someplace warm. It has yet to happen. Sigh.

Bring on the referrals!!! Welcome 2006 LIDs!!!!

  48. the_raudys Says:

Thanks for the link. I had read that already, but I guess I still am not totally clear. I thought that people were saying that the CCAA had matched ahead some. So, why would the matching begin right before referrals are released each month? What am I not getting?

  49. skye06 Says:

I hear you, RQ! This winter has been so rough and it’s been like this EVERYWHERE. Even here in So Cal, it’s been unusually cold with lots of wind. It’s gotten warmer the last 2 days but I don’t trust it, not when it continues to snow in New England. Enough already - sheesh!

  50. waiting4kiera Says:

Is today the day we start hearing rumors?? I hope so!

  51. rjk Says:

Oh pleasssssssssssssse, give us something today!!
