I adopted two children from southern Russia in 2000 the my second son who was just three in 2004 and my fourth son in 2005. Seven months from the day I filed my Ins form. My first agency wouldn't due a china adoption for me because of my age. I am now hitting 47 and the dh is all gray now. This wait has been so hard but I need to be a example for my kids. If I had opted to quit at any time, what would they think. I don't need to feed their insecurity. I don't want to defend the agencies, but I can only hold them accountable for what they control. I was reading an agency rating site the other day and was stunned by all the information on it. I was also stunned about an agency posing as a dissatisfied customer and lambasting EAC who I had such wonderful results with in Russia. If you like to do some intresting reading this is it. I have just seen Guatemala change and now they are Hague approved with the Us effective April 1st. And Viet nam open and close. I am hearing of the Phillipines and Taiwan,I believe Cambodia is down and it saddens me daily that the children of Romania have just been forgotten. I have friends that have done other countries some with snags some without. Am I tired of waiting? Yes! But I remind myself daily. HAD WE DONE ONE THING SOONER OR DIFFERENT WITH ANY OF OUR KIDS, I MAY HAVE NOT KNOWN THE FOUR I HAVE NOW. I thank God everyday for them, even as their tearing the house apart. I feel fortunate that after two rounds of Ivf I didn't shed a tear, I chose to opt out for a guarantee, and I believe this was my destiny. I want so badly for things to pick up for everyone, and the world to be a better place. If anyone wants information that I can help them with I am willing.

I know this is hard!!! Believe me I do. My DH and I have a lid of 4/4/06, we were just as disappointed. We really feel bad for the 1/10-1/13 LID, because I am sure your hopes were flying high. Just hang in there and you know that you will be within the next couple of months. Good Luck to all!

mtonkinson, This is fine if you can change programs, but many of us can't. Many of us don't even have an opening to the Russian or Kazakstan programs because of the country in which we reside. 4 adoptions in 7months is that per child with a 1 year gap or 4 in 7months total? Either way you are very blessed.
How can one be "kind" to the agency sides when so many of them are blatantly lying to their clients. Maybe we should all take your lead, and kindness will come....with being a Mom.
In the interim, I think anger, frustration and the like will prevail for many.

Somedayadaughter,
yes it would be great to go SN and stay in line for original referral, but many countries CAN NOT DO THIS.

We have no choice but to stay in line, or get out.

We deal with Govt Depts, not agencies, there is no other way for us. I get so fed up when I hear this time and time again.

Sorry I am just feeling down, with Sept 06 LID.

This will be my 1st Child and i am 46 and could age out.

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

Its 3 a.m. I just got home from work hoping that I would be reading good news for some, instead I have found nothing but people blasting their agencies, China, and the CCAA. Why does it always have to be someones fault, why can't it just happen this way. I am really sad to see such anger. For those of you thinking of other countries Russia is an awesome program, beautiful countries rich in all types of children. Southern Russia is close to China and Kazakstan, I saw many asian children in the orphanages, Fireflykids shows all the orphanages and you would be shocked at how many availble children there are. I understand Poland and Bulgaria is becoming popular. I did four russian adoptions in seven months start to finish. If a child is your dream you have to be persistanat. Thats not to say its easy and programs wont change. I don't think I have heard of a program that hasn't I know its great to vent but lets be kind, we are not owed these children they are a gift. I wonder what its like to be the rep for the agency and have 60 or so clients with an lid date getting close, I imagine this is very frustrating for them also

Lightiv

I hate to say it but an agency can only tell clients how long the current month's referral batch folks waited. They have no idea how many referrals CCAA will send out from one month to the next. It could go up or down at any time. And how do they know where in line are the US couples and the couples from other countries? Some months may have a disproportionate number of people from Europe or Australia.

I really think that people read "the current wait is x months" as how many months a person starting now will wait, but that is incorrect. They mean to tell how many months the current referral group waited. Either my agency was really well at wording or maybe I was really into asking a lot of questions but I never had an a idea that the wait would only be x amount. I only knew it could be x amount.

I was a victim of the 2 day batch last spring when we should have gotten our referral after almost 2 years waiting. It took another 2 months for them to get to us.

thanks, adomom. for every thousand or so people cursing the program right now, there will be one or two people singing its praises in a few days when referrals come in.

people seem to loose sight of that little factoid as they trash china's program: every single month, babies find homes and families find babies. not as quickly as we would like. but like clockwork. slow clockwork, yes...but like clockwork.
