Same here, not allowed to post pics or any information on the net since our agency (Dutch) went digital. This is not a rule of our country, but from CCAA, is what they say.

The Gang, RQ and others!
I'm in one of those countries where people have been told for years that it's not allowed to post pics of your kid on the internet until the adoption is final in China. We have been told this is what the CCAA wants. I have always felt very confused as to why americans post pictures. It is impossible to know what is true here, but at least I know it definitely is not a rule of my country.

Thank you for this site. This is the first time I have posted. I have been checking this site every day for the past 6-8 months.

There are some European countries that do not allow their families to post pictures of babies until the adoption is final. I've been told this has to do with the way the adoption laws are written in those countries.

Most U.S. agencies do not allow families to post pictures of SN babies until they have received the LOA or TA from the CCAA, as those documents show that the baby has officially been assigned to that family, so even though the adoption isn't final, it's enough.

Most agencies view a referral from the CCAA as something saying that baby and that family have been officially (and legally) assigned to each other, even though an adoption hasn't been finalized yet. So, most agencies are fine with families sharing as much information as they want about their referral.

I am aware of three U.S. agencies who do not allow their families to post anything at all on the internet until the adoption is final.

Soooo, it's not necessarily a part of the Hague treaty, but maybe a preference of the CCAA? I CAN see how it might be a Hague issue, as it (the treaty) seems to encompass all kinds of means to protect the children. But is this maybe a particular agency or two and their interpretation of how to best comply?

I definitely understand the request and the extenuating circumstances that might have prompted the request by the agency. It's just several I have spoken with about this seem to feel otherwise and are put out by the suggestion that 1) it's not final yet (in their minds a referral is final) and 2) it's another means by which an outside source is making decisions for that family (and they resist that interference.)

Just so many things swirling in my mind as I'm watching the process start up again with this new batch coming.

I'm not sure about the Hague thing, but our agency told us well over a year ago not to post any photos on the web until we return. They gave several reasons and one of them was that the CCAA doesn't like it. The children are not officially yours until it's done deal in China and they don't want pictures of their children out there. I can understand that...
