January 9
Two agencies are now reporting that the box has changed to show the cut off as January 9th.
Congratulations to those families who made the cut this time! I will continue to make changes to the Babies! post as referrals continue to come in today.
One of the agencies reports that the review information has not changed. I realize that many agencies are reporting that their November families have passed review, but at this point it appears that all of November has not yet cleared the review room.

We’re up for review next, with our LID of 12/14/06! Wow. Now I REALLY miss the box being posted for sure! Would have been nice to see it and keep it for our baby book.
April 7th, 2008 at 8:33 am
Our agency in France just formally posted that January 9th is the cut-off. Congrats to all the families!
As to the review room, apparently we’re next with a LID of Dec 7, 2006
April 7th, 2008 at 8:51 am
So since November CCAA has matched up 32 days, that is an average of 6.4 days per month. Lets round to 7 days and since my wife and I are 277 days out we are looking at another 39 months. That would be added to our 18 months of LID that we have been through. Thats over 4 and a half years.
I dont think I need to say anymore.
April 7th, 2008 at 9:14 am
Congrats to all those 1-9-06 who have their pictures. You have beautiful babies. Here is hoping for a much larger batch next month and a big sigh if relief for the Olympics to be over. Come on, lets get these babies home!! LID 1-17-07

The Gang – With a LID of 12/14/06 aren’t you well past Review and already have a referral?
April 7th, 2008 at 10:44 am
today it’s official on the site of CCAA.
The CCAA has finished the review of the adoption application documents
registered with our office before October 31, 2006.
* The CCAA has finished the placement of children for the families whose adoption
application documents were registered with our office before January 09, 2006

RQ-
What are your thoughts on this…It seems that the babies being referred are younger than usual (5-6 months), older than usual (3-4 years) and more boys. To what do you attribute the change in population (for lack of a better term) of children being adopted out? And do you think it supports the theory that there are, in fact, fewer children being surrendered?
Huge congratulations to those getting their referrals. Enjoy every minute of it.
April 7th, 2008 at 11:03 am
I would love to know when you have any info on the review room!! We are 11/20/06!! We just renewed our 171 and I was fearing the overlap of our documents if we weren’t out of the review yet….Thanks for all you do RQ!!
April 7th, 2008 at 11:06 am
I’d guess More Special Needs = More Boys
…just a guess
April 7th, 2008 at 11:09 am
Congrats to all you new moms and dads!!! Hip hip hurray!
April 7th, 2008 at 11:11 am
FindingHope:
I think referrals of younger babies would most likely be the result of orphanages trying to keep their numbers of referrals up in the face of a decreasing number of infants abandoned into their care.
I think referrals of older babies would most likely be the result of new orphanages coming into the system of international adoptions, and referring children they were not able to be referred earlier.
A higher percentage of boys probably results from an increased tendancy toward selective-sex abortions, rather than abandonment, as a means for families to chosse the gender of their children.
April 7th, 2008 at 12:12 pm
Our ageny got babies ranging from 1 year to 3 1/2……now normally our agency gets all very young ones?????????????
and we had one boy this time…
Oh and they are from Hunan which is my security word!!
April 7th, 2008 at 12:18 pm
oops sorry, not hunan
April 7th, 2008 at 12:39 pm
from the latest email from our agency:
“CCAA has reviewed documents logged in up to and including October 31st, 2006 / CCAA has issued referrals for dossiers logged in up to and including January 9th,2006″
So, I was wrong, we aren’t close to review yet. I read another sites information incorrectly. . . . Sorry!

RQ,
No matches for expedited applications again (for 4 months now). Do you have any insights?

RUMOR QUEEN:
I, too, am noticing how young this last batch of babies are. Several of my “China community” friends have also commented to me about that.
PLEASE tell us any hypotheses you might have as to why this is…or any actual info you may know.
Thanks for keeping us all informed! What would we do without your site? (My husband accuses me of “having an affair with RQ” b/c I’m on here so much!) LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
CONGRATS to all of y’all who just got your referrals! WOO HOO! Your babies are just beauties! Our thoughts and prayers are with you as you scramble to get ready for the big day!
April 7th, 2008 at 1:35 pm
What are “Expedited Applications”?
April 7th, 2008 at 1:39 pm
Congratulations to all. I am so glad the cutoff was finally posted. Tells me with an lid of 1/12/06 the odds are slim we won’t be in the next batch. That alone is a change. So its time to buckle down. Keep the pictures coming they are gorgeous!!!!!
April 7th, 2008 at 2:01 pm
Congratulations!
I understand that our agency, large China only, is telling people just logging in that they will not get a referral before 2013. At the rate things are going I think that is optimestic.
I am calculating every which way and I see it taking 3 yr 9 mo to 4 years to get through 2006 at the current rate.
April 7th, 2008 at 2:06 pm
Hi, is it just me but it seem that all the babies are from Jiangxi!!!!!
April 7th, 2008 at 2:17 pm
I am not sure. Online friend’s agency received young referrals for childless couples (within the late 30’s range)
and young referrals for couples with one child, but the
parents were within the 30- early 40’s range.
She said that older parents received older referrals.
The age range was 1- 3 years. There were only a few
boys. Everyone was happy with their referrals.
April 7th, 2008 at 2:31 pm
Congratulations to everyone receiving their referral this time around. Pictures are all absolutely adorable. Now if that review room date would change it would make a lot of folks happy.
April 7th, 2008 at 3:19 pm
Hi, It’s an understatement to say that this is disappointing. But … it is. I like the Booooo’s though. The sound of it is funny and it makes me smile. I recognize my own desperation in it. I think it’s the best way to accept the slow progress of this proces.
Cheers everybody who was matched to their sons and daughters.

last post didn’t go through

FindingHope,
Expedited Applications are for Chinese descent families. I was born in Hong Kong so we qualified.

RQ, thanks for existing, I would not survive without your webpage. Do you have any statistics on referral age and sex? Could this be interesting to set up as a pol?

Happy News!!! Congratulations to all the new families! These babies are beautiful.
On a side note: I think the review rooms are behind because they are the one’s carrying the Olympic torch around the various countries. Clearly more important things to do…(Sarcasm)
April 7th, 2008 at 4:51 pm
I don’t get the extreme range in ages either?? Are the older babies 1.5 – 3.5 special needs?? Did families request an older child?? I can’t understand why/how they could refer a 3.5 year old to someone who requested up to 12 months??
My husband and I are childless and I personally love to see the young babies!! Don’t get me wrong I just love to see referrals in general but I would love as young as possible!
April 7th, 2008 at 5:05 pm
I want to thank you for your continued patience with the CCAA as referral times continue to lengthen and want to remind you that we are just a phone call or email away if you want to talk.
The above is a quote from my agency today in an email they sent about the referrals.
Ha! The anti-spam word is CCAA
April 7th, 2008 at 5:08 pm
wow at least your agency says something to you!!
April 7th, 2008 at 5:56 pm
p12 – Not being rude, just wonder if you read my post incorrectly? We’re not even in review (which seems to be stalled at 10/06 for months now). Our LID is 12/14/06 – referrals from this week just cut-off at 1/09/06 – we’re 11 months after that. We are on the Waiting Child list, but still no news there either . . .
April 7th, 2008 at 6:40 pm
Congrats to everyone!
Could young babies also mean that the new computer system is wokring well?
April 7th, 2008 at 6:52 pm
Our agency told us today that they just heard things are going to slow down even more. Is that even possible?
April 7th, 2008 at 7:40 pm
I am wondering if the older children that are not SN may have been released by the birthparents later. Sometimes families will raise a girl for a while and if they end up having a boy later on, may release the girl.

April 7th, 2008 at 7:52 pm
No they were not SN’s children, they were NSN’s children.
I don’t know why they were older, they just were.
I am assuming that some of the parents were in their late 40’s or early 50’s who received older referrals. That was what was relayed to them by the agency.
Some children are raised by biological family members because the parents are unable to care for them for whatever reason are abandoned outside hospitals, police stations and orphanages. Not all children abandoned are young.

….Perspective Check…….
Even though 5 days of movement is the pits…….remember last year this time….2 days was almost suicidal for most of us…I could not look, think or even say the word adoption from China…so all in all..this is better…..it really is……only 68 LID’s ahead of us…the gap between Jan 9,06 is getting closer to March 17, 06….
Special congrats to all the new mummy and daddy’s….

kampfiii –
That is my agency too. Seems like we get the exact same message every month, huh?
April 8th, 2008 at 12:12 am
FYI,
I was the oldest in my group (46) and all of our Jiangxi girls were 11-12 months at referral. I really don’t think there is any rhyme or reason, although I am shocked by the age of some of the babies in recent months. A neighbor’s daughter was just 5 months at referral.

Is there any way to find out the number the babies referred at a time? Could this explain the days processed?

Hello everybody,
My husband and I are adopting in Spain. We like to read your website, since we find it more optimistic than those from our country!! We like the way you view the waiting time…However, after the latest referral, the comments on this web site are just as pesimistic as those in any other…This is understandable. I’m feeling quite upset too, I´m afraid I can’t give any encouragement words today. But I need to express my feelings and share them with someone who understands. Our registration date in China is 03-20-2007. According to the rythm of refferrals, we should still have almost 6 years to wait!! We are relatively young (33 years old) and can’t have any biological children. If anybody can give some words of hope, I will thank him/her so much. If not, I totally understand, and want to thank everybody in this web for “listening” to me.
And congratulations to everybody who entered in the latest referral.
Thank you again

At our agency the site changed:
The CCAA has finished the placement of children fot the families whose adoption application documents were registered with our office before 9 januari.
Congrats to the families who got there referral. I hope we are next……

I do believe things will get worse for the next couple of months because of the Olympics and we should all be prepared … Those getting a referral next month will travel one month prior to the Olympics so I’m expecting a tiny batch … Expectations should be low (very low) until the October batch (could be Jan 2009 before we see any improvement) … All this is just my opinion … I just hope to be out of review before the additional slowdown (Dec 2006) !

I think the reason that the babies were younger is that now with the paperwork required for the Hauge the orphanages are processing the paper work as they get the child and not back tracking to get a police report after the fact. So hopefuly that means that they’ve taken a cog out of the wheel , also think that this is the start of what the inter office / orphanage online program. So perhaps it will speed tings up as they become more comfortable with new process. However with a log in of march 07 I really feel things slipping away, what stared as a joyful expectation has become a painful anxeity loaded process. I recall Henry Kissinger meting with the Chairman when Nixon went to China. They were having a conversation about China’s revoloution. Kissinger mentioned that , like China, they had a revolution too in 1776 and a new rebublic was born, “what do you think of America’s revolution ? he asked the Chairman. “Too early to tell. When will our file finaly get at least reviewed? ………………..

hifromSpain-
Hi from the U.S.! Your LID is one month after mine (Feb 07), so I’m right there with you. Of course, I’m turning 45 tomorrow!! so the long wait time has other issues for me. But it’s okay. Somewhere in all this craziness, I’ve found a sense of peace; and I believe with all that I am that a beautiful little girl waits at the end of it all.
This is my second adoption from China, and I still have faith in the process. China gave me the greatest gift in the world once, and I trust them to now give her a little sister, her Mei Mei. It’s easy to lose hope with all that’s going on, but you can’t. You’ll have good days and bad days, and that’s okay. Just keep believing that wherever this all might take you, your child will be waiting.
Hang in there!

Hello FindingHope,
Thanks a lot for your comments, it was what I needed, jus a little bit of understanding, and you even gave me hope (I think you chose a good nickname!)
And thanks to everybody for your attitude in this long waiting time. You’re an inspiration, and my husband and I, although lots of miles away, feel we’re a part of this community.
A big hugh from Spain

I am not 100% sure, but someone in our family said that the young babies are probably coming from the same province. Some provinces have more abandonments.
My stepmother is Chinese and she spends quite a bit of
time in China and this is her observation.
