Unfortunately, I’m not going to be around today. I know, bad timing, but it can’t be helped.
If by chance referrals arrive today then please use the comments of this thread to announce their arrival. The agencies that are talking expect arrival Monday, but it is possible some agencies will receive their package today.
Also, if you are expecting a referral in this round and want me to list your blog on the Babies! post, then go ahead and list your blog in this thread and I’ll get the post started when I get home tonight. If referrals arrive then I’ll post it tonight, if they don’t then I’ll wait until Monday to actually post it.
If you list your blog please remember to give me the blog URL and the blog name.

How ironic that you should say that! Maybe this is just wishful thinking, but a few people very important, very close to me, have suddenly started advising me of the same thing. I’ve been very laid back with my finances, getting my home renovations done, etc., thinking that I have another 4-5 years before the baby comes home. They’ve all been getting “this feeling” that I need to start getting things in order, that I don’t have as long as I think I do. I was told by a very reliable person not to pull out of China, that after Olympics that things would go much quicker and to expect something end of 09 beginning of 10. I have to believe that. There was a post sometime ago from a woman who had hosted a member from CCAA at her home. It was somewhere ont his web site or another and talked about how she had had the opportunity to ask this person questions about the process and what is going on and this person told her that after the Olympics that it would speed up. That she agreed with her assessment that a big part of the slowdown was due to China and trying to protect it’s image to the world and not having the limelight on adoption. She went further to say that after the Olympics she said it will speed up. There was much m ore said, but that was the one thing that stood out in my mind the most.
Does anyone remember this particular post? If not, I saw it on another web site, but s omething tells me I saw it here, maybe in a forum.

I should also say that this is one of the main things that I took to heart. he other information I’m talking about is more of a personal nature on how I got information but not from anyone at CCAA or here, just through a friend.

koreaandchina, that’s very interesting.
But doesn’t it seem odd, that if they didn’t want to draw attention to themselves and the IA program, then they would have just kept going along as normal? Change naturally draws attention to itself. And the degree of change that has happened over the last two and half years has been dramatic.
I sure hope you’re right, but it seems little counter-intuitive to their intention.

I don’t think it is that odd. Once the Olympics are over, the press will move on. Been there, done that, old news. There is an election coming up that the world is watching. They will not be the center of attention once it is over.

I did a google search a few weeks ago and there were several articles stating that the adoption process would speed up after the Olympics. I think I used the words China in the exact phrase, then adoption and Olympics as additional words.

I would also love to know any information you have. My LID is 3/7/06 and I certainly would be making more urgent preparations if referrals were going to speed up quickly after the Olympics! My agency just sent out a stork alert for all of their Jan. 12 LIDs. They also state that the CCAA has not announced (to them) the cut off yet. I don’t have my paperwork with me at the moment, but I know we don’t have another LID for at least a few days after that, so no one should read into that statement that the cut off is Jan. 12.

KoreaandChina, Me too, me too! I am new to this site and haven’t figured out how to get email addresses, etc.
I will say one quick thing, that someone involved in my adoption, noted that she thought China was going the same route that Korea did when they held their Olympics in the 80’s slows down up to the time of the event and then speeds up afterwards, not sure where she got her info, but she tends to be correct too. But we won’t know until afterwards..so I am thinking positive thoughts, and September can’t come soon enough!

___________ received their referrals today. We had asked for a baby and evidently there are 9 months old in our group. As older parents, 47, we were matched with a little girl born 3-16-06. It is a mental jog for me ~~ as I’ve been hoping for a little one so much. We will love her and look forward to getting our packet on Monday.

everyone on here who has asked me to email them, I will definitely do it. Just bear with me because it will take me awhile to do this. I just feel it is better to do it this way than to post it here just based on what I have to say.
The other thing I did want to reiterate what someone said up above how she heard from someone who is reliable that said china is doing what Korea did when they had their olympics, my pediatrician said the same thing to me. She has adopted three daughters from China and her sister had adopted from Korea at the time of the Olympics and they did the very same thing and they also had said due to bad publicity, media attention that they didn’t want to have. I also have had a man who is from China tell me the same thing. After the Olympics in Korea then the adoptions started back up to speed.
But the personal information I have to give is something personal to me and that’s why I will email people privately. thanks for understanding. Just give me some time and I will get to each of you. If I haven’t remind me.

But in response to what someone said before about the Olympics in Korea and how they slowed down until after and it picked up again because they were worried about media coverage of that, my pediatrician told me the same thing that her sister had adopted from Korea at the time of the Olympics and that had happened to her. I had a man from China tell me the same thing that his country will not want that kind of media attention on the adoptions. They’ve worked too hard to make everything perfect for the Olympics.

I will say that person who said that about the Olympics In Korea and how they slowed down or stopped, she’s correct. my daughter’s pediatrican told me that happened to her brother and afterwards it sped up and it was due to Korea not wanting any media attention on it’s adoptions. China is the same way. A man from China told me the same thing abou this country not wanting bad publicity.

I see you say your agency got Stork Alert – did they actually get information on their babies?? My agency has the next referral of the 13th and I am in that LID so I am still hopeful that maybe you are right that the cutoff ISN’T the 12th. Any insight that anyone might have would be helpful.

I just wanted to tell you that my husband and I are not older parents…and when we went through the process the first time we asked for as young as possible. Our daughter was 18 months old and walking and talking a bit. We were so surprised…but she turned out to be the best age!!!! When we got her she was already showing such personality..and she really emotionally bonded with us quicker than many of the other couples because she was that age. We are now going through the process again and this time asked for up to 2 years old. You will love that little girl so much, and will know she was meant to be with you. You are going to still get all those “firsts” we dream about as mothers, just at a much more advanced rate. Our friends asked for AYAP and just recently got a three year old. She is beautiful and adjusting beautifully….That little 2 year old is your destiny. I promise, You will cherish her. Good luck!

I am awfully depressed with the slow down and could use some upbeat information.
I read a post on another website a couple of weeks ago that said something similar to what you are saying. The inidividuals were attending an adoption conference in the west and one of them was from China.

As much as I appreciate Koreaandchina sharing information with us, I admit that I was hoping for something that she got from a direct source who heard something from someone who works with an agency that has good communication with the CCAA or perhaps someone who knows someone at the CCAA. I personally don’t believe that anyone can predict the future- even RQ only gives us possibilities and rumors.

Just a quick note to the people whom I’ve sent this email to I just want to reiterate that the comment made by lmg today is the very reason why I did not post this on the open board.
Not everyone believes in this and all I was trying to do is share what I have learned and to give a glimmer of hope to the rest of us who have been waiting and who are beginning to wait. There was no intent to try to mislead anyone about anything. That is exactly why I said if anyone wants to ask me they can email me. I thought that was the best way to do it. I’m sorry if anyone feels misled.

KoreaandChina, please don’t be upset. You did the right thing by sharing your personal information via e-mail. It’s just that some of us don’t believe that stuff. As mentioned in a prior post, I think many of us were hoping for inside CCAA information. I am not disappointed in you as a person at all. Just disappointed that I couldn’t get a something what I believe would be more solid. Not everyone believes the same. You were very gracious to share something that was very personal to you. Sorry if my message was offensive. That was not the intention of my heart.
