People are trying to plan their lives, we try to point out what is likely here. Maybe it's not what people want to hear, but I'm not going to lie to try to make people feel better. Sure, it might make someone happy for a short time, but then the crash happens when they don't get their referral when they thought they would. If it is 1 day...we all assume it is due to the earthquake...or is it a continuation of the decline? Of course it is great for those receiving referrals, but it does not help the rest of us looking way ahead. When I finally calmed her down enough to talk, she asked in between sobs "Is my baby sister okay?" Not only had she overheard us but people talking in the supermarket, at school, etc. I had no idea how much of all this she was hearing and how worried the poor little thing has been about the baby.
