First rumors say that we are not going to reach the Horrid Case Scenario of January 23rd.
This is an R2 right now.

Thank you RQ for the rumor and working on your site. I don’t think much of us in the queendom are too surprised about this rumor.

RQ, with rumors starting to come in, when do you think we should here in the air? Lisa 1/13/06 NEXT…..
May 29th, 2008 at 12:53 pm
Lisa – sorry, the crystal ball site is probably going to be about as accurate as I could be on that question right now.
If I hear anything I’ll report it, but until I hear something it could be today or it could be two weeks from now.
May 29th, 2008 at 1:00 pm
I’m not surprised….but never stop being disappointed :(
May 29th, 2008 at 1:02 pm
RQ, I would take you over that crystal ball any old day. I have enjoyed my time here on your site and all the info you get for us waiting parents. You truly are the QUEEN!!!! Thanks But had to ask RQ… Lisa

RQ, Thank you for all you do. Thank a million & one times.
WOW! The 23rd! I’ll take it…
Cautiously optimistic…

I didn’t see a new rumor in the forum so just wondering what exactly the rumor is?? What are “they” saying the cutoff date will be then? Usually you post the cutoff rumor using a date…so just wondered what this means? I was pretty sure they wouldn’t get to the 23rd – thought that was WAY too optimistic, but I had to read your blog comment a couple times as it is confusing – your saying they will NOT get to the 23rd…right?? so then what DID they say they would get through?? Thanks for any clarification you can give us RQ! :) We are all desperate for good news! :)
May 29th, 2008 at 1:22 pm
china4ever, there is the “23rd is not in” rumor in the Jan LID Room of the Forum. There is no word yet on what the cut-off date is, just that the 23rd is not in this batch.
May 29th, 2008 at 1:24 pm
If they had said what they would get through I’d have said that.
I’m reporting what is being said. And right now what we have is someone with a certain LID being told they are not in this batch.
Maybe I need to step away from the computer because that comment just hit me completely wrong and I’m trying really hard to not be snippy. Perhaps I’ve spent too much time fighting with the site trying to fix what is broken. Whatever the problem, I don’t like feeling this aggravated so I guess it’s time to step away for a bit until I can come back with a better perspective.
I’ll check in for a few more hours while I”m at work and will post any rumors that come in, but this evening I’ll probably just read a book and not touch the computer at all.
May 29th, 2008 at 1:40 pm
RQ, we appreciate you. I can’t imagine how frustrated you are having to do all you did to get the site back up. Please know we are so grateful for this site. I think china4ever would agree. I did not take the comment like you did; I took it more as just desperate for info. but I can see how you would be frustrated as you can only report what you know. I am waiting for LOA but I still love to keep up with the NSN referrals. Each month see all the children is so exciting. Well I just wanted to say thank you again and to say that a good book sounds like a great idea! I may join you, although I don’t know if I can stay away from chinaadopttalk.com!!! :)))

I read the blog post wrong.
Sorry…
That’s what I get for checking this site by the minute @ work…

here’s a virtual fuzzy navel for you RQ
and a virtual lobster, filet mignon
- thanks for all you do, RQ. I greatly appreciate it.

I agree I don’t think china4ever meant anything wrong at all. With a LID of 1-17 I’m sitting on pins and needles as well. I’m literally shaking and refreshing the sight by the minute. I can very well relate to what C4E is feeling. We usually at least know something by this time of the month and with the earthquake and Olympics just adding to the unknown we that “could” be next are just basket cases.
RQ I apologize if I said anything wrong I just know how I’m feeling right now and how quite a few people in the January room are feeling. Like we are on the very top of the coaster but it’s stalled and we don’t know what to do. The wait is so so hard as I’m sure you and everyone else who ever got a referral knows.
I’m just hoping that we hear something soon. I don’t know how much more of this shaking I can handle without breaking down and screaming. Of course my family calling every hour wanting to know if I know anything isn’t helping much. I’m sorry I’m rambling, RQ thanks so much for everything you do. I can’t imagine how frustrating it can get at times. Just know we THANK YOU so much for providing the information you do.
May 29th, 2008 at 1:53 pm
RQ, Thanks for all you do…. I wish I could share a glass of wine with you, and a day at the spa…. Lisa
May 29th, 2008 at 2:06 pm
RQ, I am consistently impressed with the patience and grace you exhibit in running this site. I know if I were trying to do your job, I would be a whole lot snippier a whole lot more quickly than you ever have been. This has been the worst possible time of the month to have technical problems, but you have managed to keep everything more or less on track. Thanks.
May 29th, 2008 at 2:16 pm
Come on more than 3 days…….Please…….Please…..
May 29th, 2008 at 2:27 pm
Poor RQ. I can just imagine how this system glich ate away at your time, not to mention your patience. Great idea to take a break. Maybe have some lovely libation as you read your book? A girl can only take so much.
May 29th, 2008 at 2:30 pm
I think all of us are a little on edge right now. Between the earthquake, Maria Chapman, what seems to be a constant barrage of baby buying info, looming olympic issues, etc and everyone’s general concerns about the slow down, its getting tougher and tougher to stay upbeat about the china IA process. Even things as ridiculous as the Sharon Stone comment are really bugging me. I feel sorry for the next person who rubs me the wrong way –I think I’m about ready to blow!!! :-)
To me the 23rd was never even a remote possibility, I’m thinking the 18th is more likely –I’d be thrilled with the 19th. Truth be told, anything over 3 days is going to feel like a bonus even though numbers wise 3 days would be unimaginable.
Next week, we’ll all know, no more guessing needed.
BTW: for the families who are being stalled due to the Chengdu issues, I really feel for you. To know that little person is there waiting for you must be very hard, I’m so sorry.

((china4ever)) Hugs for you. We know you you are just looking for answers. I don’t think you were being snippy in your post. But as we all know, sometimes it can come across wrong on the computer. believe me I have been there.
((rumorqueen)) Hugs for you as well. We all appreciate everything you do. This site means so much to us. I think this has been a long frustrating week ,with all of your site problems. Thank you so much for keeping it going and working so hard to answer our questions~:)

Oh, I’m so sorry RQ – please forgive me for making your day harder. :) I was totally innocently asking what the rumored cut-off was – I actually was excited to read your post because I thought it said it was the 23rd (which would have blown my mind and made me soo happy!) then DH came and reread it and said – “No honey, it says the 23rd isn’t in”… and then we both together typed the message because we are so anxious for any news about what the cutoff might be…and since we haven’t yet been added to the Jan LID room I didn’t know about the rumor or what the cutoff might be – we are waiting so anxiously and I’m so sorry if I was too anxious to find out more. I should just assume that you’ve said it all and wait patiently for more later. I guess I thought you usually shared the LID of the person who said they weren’t in before – but maybe that wasn’t here and I’ve seen that elsewhere. Sorry – please accept our apologies. :) You are doing a great job that is why we come here for news! :) I’m sorry you’ve had so much to deal with. I can only imagine how aggravating the last couple of days must have been for you. Didn’t mean at all to add to it. I wish they had a “tone” button on-line but I thought my smiley faces showed that I was not upset or annoyed just really, really wanting any info at all. Here’s some extra smileys just in case…oh, and a big hug too! :0) :0) :0) :0) :0) ((((hug!))))
May 29th, 2008 at 2:49 pm
Somehow deep down I knew they weren’t going to hit the 23rd. Based on purely gut instincts…I think they’ll only get as far as the 17th or 18th.

Hoping For 08:
Sorry to be silly, I am just learning about the SN part of things. What is an LOA? What is a PA? I have heard that one too? I think we all could use a Margarita with all the uncertainty about China right now. We just gotta keep positive thoughts!
May 29th, 2008 at 3:08 pm
I must need a Fuzzy Navel AND time away from the computer because I didn’t realize that getting to January 23 would be considered a horrid case. “Only” 11 days sounds wonderful to me…
May 29th, 2008 at 3:12 pm
Any SN LOA rumors?
May 29th, 2008 at 3:13 pm
Tresordasie the 23rd was based on how many people were logged in on each day compared to previous months. The 12th of January was a very big day. The 14th and 15th on January are weekends with only a few if any people logged in. It’s really trying to average how many people actually got referrals in the last few months and compare them against the number of people logged in on the coming days and to try and make them match closely. Gosh I hope that made sense.
Can anyone tell I’m totally addicted to this sight and RQ’s projections!
May 29th, 2008 at 3:16 pm
RQ: If it’s any consolation (or validation) for China4ever, the first thing we thought of, too, was well when is the cut-off? We figured probably someone with the 23rd said he wasn’t in this month and that is where you got the info., but the post didn’t specifically say that, so we, too, wondered.
We love you because of your time and effort to provide us with this information, so know that all you do is appreciated!!
May 29th, 2008 at 3:28 pm
I am getting so excited! I was at a conference today and had to borrow someone’s laptop to get my “RQ” fix! Thanks for keeping us all up to date with the information you can gather. Don’t know HOW you do it…just so very GLAD you do!
May 29th, 2008 at 3:43 pm
Thanks RQ, I dont think any of us ever want to upset you. Its like you are our only lifeline. Can u imagine ever trying to find out from our agencies whats going on (even on a monthly basis!) Thanks for all your support and info.
May 29th, 2008 at 3:53 pm
Regarding the cut off–my unscientific and full of holes theory is that the cut off is now day based and not numbers based. But of course I cannot back that up with anything. To the scientists like RQ I am the equivalent of the town moron –but when I use the day system–I don’t get so disappointed.

Hutton’sMom: Here are the descriptions for the SN or Waiting Child program that I put on our website–
LOI: Letter of Intent (this is the letter we send to CCAA asking to adopt a specific child through the waiting program; it has to include some very specific statements)
LOA: Letter of Acceptance (also referred to more recently as the RA or Referral Acceptance; this is THE PAPER for which families wait that says CCAA has accepted our application to adopt a specific child; until we get this paper she is not officially ours)
PA: Pre-approval (if we accept a referral before we are out of review, then we will most likely receive this; it basically means our paperwork has been put with hers and they move into another room)
TA: Travel Approval (this is when we buy plane tickets and get super-duper excited!)
CA: Consulate Appointment (with the US Consulate in China)
Kiwimom: I have not heard any LOA rumors, but several have posted in the SN forum that they just received theirs. It does seem that they are coming more in the 2-4 month range. We are *hoping* for that range as we have a late 2007 LID so we are nowhere near review although we started out going SN. We have been waiting 17 DAYS. Can you tell I am counting? It has actually gone quickly! We received our PA in 10 days.
:))))))

Thanks piper and moonladder (((hugs))) to you both! :) Thanks for taking the time to post that you understood my question and anxiousness to know more. :) I really thought for a moment that I was living in some alternate universe where I was thinking one thing but must have typed something entirely different LOL! :) We love this site & all of RQ’s work on our behalf. I can’t imagine what we would do without her!!! Yikes! That’s a terrible thought! I guess because I’ve always thought it was a site that welcomed discussion and questions – I’d ask what DH & I were longing to know – what is the rumored cut-off…but, I’ll be more careful in future to try and buffer and word things better. thanks for the support & still hoping for a big batch for all my January 06 LIDers who are waiting on pins & needles with me! :)

Hey guys, no harm done. A new book arrived today so my plans for the evening are going to work out great (I wasn’t expecting it to be delivered until tomorrow).
Hopefully I’ll be in a better mood tomorrow.

I am hopeful for a bigger batch this month. Good luck to all of you who may be next. I feel anxious for you. Hopefully this will be the faster summer ever!! Can’t wait for August to be over. Thanks to RQ too. I would be nuts w/o you!

I have to say that this month I am not surprised at all that we may not get through the 23rd, considering the devastation there. I feel for all of you January 2006 people, sitting on the edge of your seat. It’s been a trying month.
RQ, enjoy your book, take a much needed break and have a good night. Thanks for all you do.

I have just GOT to ask you something…How in the world do you work, and do this site, and take care of 2 little ones and a hubbie, AND relax and read a book in a night?! Do tell……….

Would this likely be the last batch to travel before the Olympics? Perhaps that could explain any small batch? While not holding my breath, I’m still hoping things speed up after the Olympics.
May 29th, 2008 at 11:37 pm
This is my first post. I’m a bit of a newbie around here, but I’m glad to have found you. I heard great things about RQ from a very nice woman I met at the park one day who adopted a beautiful little girl from China, but it took me awhile to actually log on and check it out for myself. But I’m so glad I finally did! Now I don’t feel so alone in all of this. Thanks RQ for all you do.

Anyone, someone, somewhere with more rumours. This silence is horrible. Another 1/2 day gone in a place somewhere round the world…surely something more.
May 30th, 2008 at 8:30 am
I can’t believe it’s May 30 (and Friday night in China) and we have basically nothing indicating that referrals are imminent! I’ve had this fear over the last few months that we will eventually have a month with NO referrals. I hope this is not it!!
May 30th, 2008 at 11:45 am
Nancy:
I don’t think CCAA would be doing matching if they weren’t going to send referrals, but I understand the frustration over no rumors. I think the rumors last month were very late, right before the referrals started arriving, maybe this month will be the same. Hang in there!
May 30th, 2008 at 1:17 pm
Worthwaitingfor, I’m not voicing frustration – I seriously do think it is a real possibility that there will be months going forward in which no referrals are sent (and I don’t think it makes a difference whether matching is going on or not – that will only be confirmed when referrals do in fact arrive). As someone mentioned earlier, people in this batch will be racing against time to get in and out of China before the Olympics. So if there ever was a month where referrals might not be forthcoming, this could be it.
