The end of May

Next week it will be June. It doesn’t feel like June. Does it? Maybe it’s the weather, but it feels more like it should be mid April. Doesn’t it? Or maybe it’s just me.

As it turned out, my copy of Blood Noir arrived yesterday (the new Anita Blake book) and I spent the evening reading it. Yes, the whole thing, in one night. I got to sleep a little after 1:00 this morning, which means I’m probably going to be a bit grumpy today from lack of sleep. But that’s okay, it was a nice entertaining read. Not her best, but still not a bad book. If you’ve never read any of the Anita Blake books then don’t start with this one, start with the first one, Guilty Pleasures. Or you can buy the first four books all together in a set.

As kind of a side note, I’ve seen a few people asking questions over the past couple of days that are in the FAQ, so if you haven’t read it, then you might want to. Many of the abbreviations we use are there, that’s probably been one of the biggest recurring questions.

Okay, on to the rumors, which are way down here because, well, because there aren’t any.

If anyone has a rumor, please share. It’s Friday night in China now, hopefully an agency out there somewhere got some information last night and will share it with their clients today. If not then we may be stuck without rumors until Monday. The timing is especially critical for this batch because the people who get referrals this time are going to be in a race against time to try to get to China and back before the Olympics.

RQ, will you be around today to post if any rumors come in? Thanks Lisa

  2. RumorQueen Says:

I’ll be in and out. I’ve got a few meetings at work, and I’ve got to leave for a while to take TT to an appointment this afternoon. I won’t be at the computer all day, but I’ll be in and out, so if someone sends me info it will get posted within an hour or two.

  3. luvluv Says:

    Yes! Rumors are brewing!
RQ you are a so appreciated.

  4. rjk Says:

    Rumor Queen,

I asked this yesterday, but the post didn’t show so maybe you didn’t see it. Anyway I have a question: How in the world do you manage to go to work, keep up with this site and all of us crazies out here desperate for info, take care of 2 little ones and a hubbie, AND read a whole book in one night?????????
    DO TELL………………………………

I love the Anita Blake novels! Can’t wait to read Blood Noir! I had so wanted her with Richard, but now he’s just irritating me.

  6. waiting2bmummy Says:

    Hi,

Sorry no rumors, just curious about our blog. I was wondering how many single waiting mothers are out there? I am a single waiting mother and was just wondering how many of us are on RQ? Also has anyone heard anything more about the review room updates?

Just making conversation until the really good stuff starts happening.

Happy Friday, and keeping positive vibes for good news all around!

  7. Mom2Isabel Says:

    waiting2bmummy-
I am a single (no longer waiting) mother. I’d be glad to communicate with you about the journey and experience of becoming a single adoptive mom. It’s been 16 months this week. There is a contact link on my site.

    Cheers!

RJK - the post is there from yesterday, I just thought you were being tongue in cheek.

How did I do it? Well RK cooked dinner while I put the dog through his ten minutes of training exercises and then spent another five minutes helping GlitterGirl walk said doggie through it all. We all ate dinner and then RK cleaned the dishes while I put the girls in the bathtub. I got a few things done while they were in the tub, and then I got them out of the tub and went through the bedtime rituals, and once they were in bed and crib I put myself in the tub and started reading my book. Once I was done soaking in the tub I got out and piled pillows up in the bed and read until the middle of the night.

This morning I dragged myself out of bed and my guess is that my look just dared RK to say anything remotely resembling “if you’d get to sleep at a decent hour then it wouldn’t be so hard to wake up.” Being the wise husband that he is, he didn’t say that. After only around four hours of sleep I probably looked pretty grumpy.

Now that I’m up and partway through the day I’m okay without the sleep, but I’m guessing I’ll probably turn in a little early tonight.

It’s strange that there are no rumors out there yet. My agency is pretty good about letting us know what the next cutoff will be, but yesterday let us know that they don’t have any info this month. The silence is a bit spooky.

  10. beatr1ce Says:

So…it sounds like what RQ is saying is that she has a wonderful supportive hubby that helps out alot around the house! Way to go RK!!!!

  11. FindingHope Says:

    waiting2bmummy-
There is a group in the Forum for single parents that you may want to check out.
Haven’t heard anything on Review Room status other than one agency reporting that Jan 07 is out of review.
    Happy Friday to you too!
    LID Feb 07

  12. waiting4kiera Says:

A helping husband! That’s a concept! Does RK do any training??

  13. Mom2Isabel Says:

More importantly, does RK have a single twin brother??

    :)
    Laureen

  14. FindingHope Says:

I don’t know, Laureen, haven’t you ever heard of the old “good twin evil twin” thing :)

  15. Nancy in DC Says:

Am I correct in assuming this means we won’t get any news until Monday?

I also want to thank you, RQ. Our agent sent us an email yesterday saying that if we are matched soon our travel may be delayed and more expensive because of the Olympics. My first thought was “you’re just telling us this now?!? Did you think I’ve had my head in the sand?!”. I was nice in my reply, but it made me even more thankful for this forum. If it wasn’t for this website I would know nothing! Thank you so much!

  16. Motherhood@48 Says:

For me, the silence in regards to rumors about cutoff dates is deafening.

LID 01-16-06 and scared our referral won’t be coming this month.

  17. momto4hopefully Says:

    I agree m@48,
I have a feeling there is a bad moon a ‘risin. I don’t know why but I think this month will be really small. I so hope I am wrong!

  18. bethey Says:

With a LID of the 17th I’m getting really really scared. I mean it’s soooo quiet, too quite. Uggh I hate this feeling. I keep thinking SOMEONE has got to know SOMETHING but then there is nothing. If it’s going to be small I just wish they would go ahead and let us know that so we wouldn’t all be on pins and needles. If it’s bad news I just want to know so I can go on with life for June. Right now I feel like my whole life is on hold and I can’t think of anything but the referral of our child.

  19. Nancy Says:

I really feel for you mid-Jan-06 LID people! With a LID of 11-09-06 myself I have ages to wait, so while I am “curious” as to why there are no rumors at this point, it is not earthshattering to me. Here’s hoping things will open up over the weekend . . .

  20. slbmacy Says:

For what it’s worth, I bought a package of grapes today from Costco and there was a ladybug crawling around!

  21. reglissoly Says:

My agency believes that this month, there maybe no attribution because of the earthquake.:o((((

  22. norasmommy Says:

Wow reglissoly, they said that they didn’t think there would be any at all or that they didn’t expect to receive any? What is your agency’s next LID?

So many people have been told that matching had begun and/or packages are expected next week that it seems unlikely that there will be no referrals at all.

I’d sure love for them to at least get through the 17th… (when you see my siggy, you’ll know why ;) )

  23. meilismom Says:

I’ve been wondering if it would be reasonable to expect referrals this month in light of recent events…

  24. dunedin Says:

Doesn’t feel like June????? Honey, it feels like August here in FL!!! Wish I were where you are! My car is AFRICA hot each afternoon.

  25. severine Says:

our French agency just come back from CCAA and the CCAA say that the referral will continue during the JO and nothing else.
If they should not give baby this month I think they would say that to our big china agency last week …?

    Severine lid 24 jan 06

  26. Ruby Hill Says:

    severine,

    What is the JO?

    Thanks

  27. susan Says:

I also love the anita blake series. I haven’t read blood noirbut will be getting this weekend. I also read Christeen Feehan series.

  28. Mom2Isabel Says:

    dunedin-
I hear you!!! I am dying here in Florida too… and it’s still only May! I can’t begin to imagine what August is going to feel like.

Went to a birthday party for a 3 YO at the zoo last Saturday. Just when you thought hell couldn’t get any worse than a group of hot, tired, thirsty preschoolers in upper 90 degree weather, the stench of animals drops you to a lower region.
(Oh yeah, and the kiddie water park…the ONE redeeming feature of the day… got shut down JUST as we entered that secton because a child had just “had an accident” in the little pool area and they had to clean it all out and sanitize it. [READ "Snickers bar", NOT bump on head.] Grrr!

Paradise Lost. I think Dante must have come here for a summer (make that SPRING!) visit.

  29. beatr1ce Says:

    Severine…what does JO mean?

“our French agency just come back from CCAA and the CCAA say that the referral will continue during the JO and nothing else.”

  30. eli Says:

Beatrice, I was puzzing over that aswell. I assumed JO meant the Olympics. I think ‘games’ is Jeux in French.

I was confused about “and nothing else” — maybe there would be referrals but no TAs/travel?

  31. beatr1ce Says:

Or maybe she was just saying that referrals will continue during the olympics and they didn’t say anything else. hmmmm…..

  32. Tresordasie Says:

JO means Jeux Olympiques (Olympic Games).

I believe her agency is the same as mine and their email of yesterday said that their facilitator met with the CCAA in May and the CCAA apparently said that:

    - The CCAA will remain open during Olympic Games
    - The CCAA will continue to revise dossiers
    - That for referrals received in June and July (Hooray!) that parents should be understanding about the Olympic Games and that they should wait until September to travel because it will be easier and cheaper
    - To help parents achieve this, travel approvals will be valid for 5 months instead of 3 for referrals received in June and July.

Good news in the sense that receipt of referrals will not be interrupted!

  33. severine Says:

    Yes sorry,
‘JO’ means Olympics games and ‘nothing else’ just mean if they should not give baby this month I think they would say that to our agency…

They don’t say anything about TA .

    Severine

  34. MELISSA Says:

Our Ta’s arrived on friday, what a surprise since activity has been so quiet. Did anyone get referrals? If I remember correctly our agency last month expected packages on friday and monday. I am pulling for all of you . Hang in there!
