Book Review: Twilight Series
I don’t know if I can pick a favorite series. But this is one of my favorites. There are probably three or four or five of them tied for first, and this is one of them.
I’m not sure if this is first a romance and second a vampire story, or first a vampire story and second a romance. Either way, I love both the happy parts and the sad parts, though I hated most of the sad parts as I was reading them.
This is another series that is being taken beyond the realm of books, but this one is headed for the big screen, opening day is December 12th of this year.
The Twilight Series is technically a young adult series (so no graphic sex in these books), but as with Harry Potter I think as many adults have read it as teens. Maybe more.
If you haven’t read the books and plan to, then don’t watch any of these trailers, as they have some major spoilers. Especially the MTV clips.
This first trailer has been out for a while, but it is probably the best one:
The next one is newer and has more dialogue than images.
MTV has a few clips up here and here. The first one shows a lot of scenes not in the trailers above. But, like i said, if you haven’t read the book yet and you plan to, don’t watch them. Huge spoilers.
Also, just to be thorough, the official web site for the movie is twilightthemovie.com. There are some videos and pictures up there as well but I haven’t had a chance to really poke around and see what is there yet.
I am thrilled at the casting for Bella and Edward and Alice. All of the Cullen’s, actually, but especially those three. And from what I’m seeing of the trailers and clips, I’m pretty excited about seeing this one come to life.
For those who have read the books, you may be interested in reading the first chapter of Midnight Sun that is up on the author’s website. It is the story told in Eclipse, but told from Edward’s point of view. The link to the first chapter is at the bottom of the page. I’m hooked and can’t wait for her to write the rest of it…. but I’m appreciative of this little bit, as it helps me understand Edward so much more. (Again, don’t read this if you haven’t read Eclipse. You aren’t supposed to understand Edward this well until you are a good ways through Eclipse.)
Now, as to the fourth (and supposedly final) book in the Bella saga. The cover art for Breaking Dawn has been released, you can see it on the Amazon link below. We’re at just under two months until it comes out. Entertainment Weekly has the first chapter of Breaking Dawn up on their site here. Nothing earth shattering and certainly no spoilers.
I’ve got links to the books below. The books are long. I mean, really long. Each book took me about as long to read as it usually takes me to read two or even three books. But they are incredible. I highly recommend them.

I have read the first 2 books in this series and LOVED them. I hadn’t seen either of those trailers but my 7th grade students have certainly been talking about them. I would definitely recommend this series to anyone–and it’s not at all what you would expect from a vampire story!

I am going to the book store tomorrow to get the twilight series. I am suppose to be saving money for our adoption but one thing I have to buy is books! Drives my husband nuts sometimes. He doesn’t read.
