We want to list ours but still have not told anyone the name yet including grandparents so, if it is ok, I think we need to list it on referral day. I am expecting that will be Tuesday at the earliest.

Does anyone know if you can adopt through the state and international at the same time? My friend said you can’t. I was looking at adoptkidsPA. I hate waiting soooo long to be a mom but I don’t want to give up China either. With a LID of 1-07, I am afraid of having to wait until 2011 or later. If China continues at a rate of doing only 2-3 months per year, I am afraid of never being a mom. Hopefully, things will get better by the end of the year, but noone really knows. Plus, our agency is one of a few who failed to get accredition. We should be ok because our paperwork is still with the “old Hague” the I600. We are waiting to find out for sure. They did appeal.

Hi Colette,
It’s official! Our agency’s site is updated – referrals received for Jan 23 & 24 (they didn’t have anyone with 25th LID). AND Dec 06 expedited referrals are also received!
Do you know the process? Do they translate the file and we get the call tomorrow? When do we get the Fed Ex package? Tomorrow or Wednesday?
Can’t believe the referral is actually here…

OMG Amy!!!!! OMG!! Thank you. I will go check the site right now. I was told they were hoping to call us tomorrow morning and that they start calls at 10 am their time (I am on the East Coast so noon for me).
I do not know about the package. OMG, their pictures are in the agency office right now!!

dear wait4ever, we were told by our agency that as long as we adopt 1yr before our china referral comes we will be fine, the only catch is that we don’t really know when to expect a referral from China. Our lid is 10-11-06 so i believe we have alot of time to pursue another adoption if we wanted to right now. Check with your agency because as far as i know my agency said that they didn’t have any rules but that is what China is requesting 1year before referral and 1 year after bringing baby home for any new adoptions. hope this was of some help….

wait4ever, i have a 7/10/06 LID and am currently also pursuing adoption through my county foster system. my agency said there is a one year rule for china between adoptions but that it is ultimately up to the discretion of the agency. i am all the way through the process of training and homestudy. i am going through an agency who specializes in adoption through the county foster system. i checked the box that said 0-4 years old and did not specify race or sex. i still have my final home visit to get through but my social worker has already been to my house once and there were no red flags. and… it’s free. all of it. except for live scans and physicals, ect. plus with adoption through the foster system you are entitled to all of the same benefits as foster parents get. between $6-700 each month till the child is 18 and medical till 18. as a future single mom of 2, that will help a lot. it could happen anytime. i have friends that have done it and have great kids they’ve adopted. under 2. there are risks with this type of adoption but they make you well aware of them in the training. the nice thing is that you have a choice when you get the call. you can decide if it seems like a good fit according to all the info they provide to you about the child and with being able to meet the child. some of the babies come from crack moms and some of the kids have been tossed from home to home. some are newborns. there are 4000 kids in the foster system here in los angeles county!! those poor kids.
i’m excited to see what happens. i will continue to wait patiently for my gotcha day in china. hopefully that day will include a brother or sister for my long awaited daughter.

RQ- Please remove me from the “Babies” post under expecting a referral in this batch. My agency made a huge mistake when they sent me my LID (which they now tell me is 2/10/06.) I’ve cried my eyes out and now I just have to accept that after hanging on to this one date of 1/25/06 for two and a half years, I have to wait a little bit longer.
