New Releases

There are three books about to be released that I literally can’t wait to read.

Cry Wolf (Alpha and Omega, Book 1) by Patricia Briggs (released July 29)
The first book is a spinoff to the series I talked about here. The beginning is in the On the Prowl anthology, and I can’t wait to read the rest of the story. Which technically I guess is the first installment, but since there has already been a short story out about them, it’s not really the first. This one gets released next week.

Breaking Dawn (The Twilight Saga, Book 4) by Stephenie Meyer (released August 2)
Next is one that I’m betting a lot of people besides me are waiting for, the fourth installment in the Twilight series. This one gets released next Saturday, and part of me wishes that I could just lock myself in the bathroom and read it. That’s not gonna happen though, so I’ll have to read this one as time allows. Based on the length of the other books in this series, I won’t be reading this one in one night after the kiddos go to bed.

Acheron (Dark-Hunter, Book 12) by Sherrilyn Kenyon (released August 5)
Last on this list is Acheron, the twelfth book in the Dark-Hunter series. And yes, you kind of have to read them all before you make it to this one, or there is no way it will make any sense. All twelve books have led up to this, and the last three or four especially have been setting the stage for a huge showdown in this book and probably the one after this (since the one after this is about Stryker, which means Stryker is still going to be alive at the end of Acheron’s book.) I have kind of a love-hate relationship with the Dark-Hunter books. I don’t really like romance books. You know “as his strong muscles rippled over her her bare skin” and “she’d never felt this way with anyone else, It wasn’t just their bodies joining, it was like their souls were joining“. I roll my eyes as I read stuff like that, and it’s hard to read while you are rolling your eyes. But, while there is some of that in these books, the long term storyline has captivated my attention. I can read these books fairly quickly because I skim the romance parts, which in some books is a quarter of the book. But, ignoring the cheesy romance stuff, these books rock. And I can’t wait to read Acheron’s story. If this one arrives before I’ve finished Breaking Dawn I’m not sure what I’ll do. I’m not the kind of person to read two books at once. I hear of people who have one book on their nightstand and another in their den and they are reading both stories at once. My brain doesn’t appreciate that, I carry the book around with me until I’ve finished it.

So, I have three books that I’ve been anxiously anticipating for some time, and they are all being released in a short time period. It is not in me to be able to slowly savor Breaking Dawn or Acheron. No, both of these books will need to be read as quickly as possible, and then I’ll be able to re-read them and savor them the second time I read them. Unfortunately, my life doesn’t have a lot of spare time for reading right now. What timing.

Oh well. Sleep is highly over rated.

I cannot wait for “Breaking Dawn” to come out next week!!! I’m rereading the series now in preparation, and am about halfway through “New Moon”. I am incredibly curious to see how things pan out in this fourth installment.

I can’t wait for Breaking Dawn either. I’m temped to pick up my copy at midnight. If Bella and Edward don’t end up together I’ll be majorly disappointed.

I read the first few in about 24 hours each. I’m glad I only found out about them a few months ago. The suspence would have been unbearable.

I also can’t wait for her to publish the book from Edward’s perspective. No idea how long a wait that will be.

Realizing my comment is unrelated to vampire serials, there is a fantastic, recently published book, Silent Tears by Kay Bratt, about day-to-day life in a Chinese orphanage. I highly recommend the book to any parent who has or is in the process of adopting from China, and who wishes to better understand their child’s pre-adoption environment and upbringing.
