One agency is warning that referrals will not be mailed until the Olympics are over.
I’d like to hear this from more than one agency before we panic too terribly much.

I refuse to believe that this rumor is real…..think of it CCAA’s past practice is to wrap up their work before holidays, Chinese New Year…and after all they want to close up shop before the “Games begin August 8,2008″….Signed thinking positively positive..on all fronts..

It will be interesting to see what comes of this. There seems to be no reason for/benefit from it. Seems like they would do one more batch on the normal schedule, since no one from that batch would be travelling until well after the Olympics.

I don’t know if some agencies know more information than others, but someone we
know said their agency said the same thing.
She said that they have always been truthful in sharing information. I am not sure if this is what the agency believes or knows for sure.

I believe it is my agency who “said this” in an email update on Friday….they then sent out a “clarification email” after as a number of people were confused and upset….what they meant was their next LID would likely NOT be included in this batch of referrals and would receive referrals AFTER the Olympics.
My LID is Feb. 9/06 and I’m part of that agencies NEXT batch.

I for one hope this news is incorrect esp for those late Jan/early Feb LIDs. Based on chinababybarnes it seems like it is…Congrats to everyone receiving a referral this month…

Hi, my agency has not said this. They believe referrals will be given before the Olympics, and that, the next date for 2/9 LID’s will most likely or (hopefully) arrive in Sept.
July 27th, 2008 at 3:05 pm
I think they are going to bang out a batch before the Olympics. I just want to see the word “February” in the magical box.
It will be the Sept and beyond batches that will have some questions around it when the “Big O” is just a bad memory.
Once again here we are waiting for the batch of the future, after some China or CCAA related rule or event, to see if things are going to speed up. How many times in the past 2 + years have we been through this?
Soooooo painful. I want my mommy.

PS It looks like we are going to have to renew our fingerprints and related forms a 3rd time this year. And there is no 3rd freebie. Out of pocket, baby. Kick you when you’re down, welcome to the wonderful world of international adoption. Please make sure you seat and tray table are in the locked and upright position.

I hear you Big Daddy – livin’ your pain…
I’m glad chinababybarnes posted. That put some air back in my lungs and that of my wife. Our agency is pretty darn good about keeping us informed. They’re one of the original hand holders. I can’t help but think they would have been preparing us for no referrals if they truly believed that to be the case. Having not prepared us for such an event. I have to believe referrals will continue as always. In fact, our conversations have been positive about our being in the next set of referrals!

I know it’s not what people want to hear but it does make sense. The Olympics is not a holiday, it’s an event. China uses it’s resources…including people, wisely. I would not be surprised at all if the people used in CCAA are now being shifted to help with certain aspects of the Olympics. Therefore, shutting down their work at CCAA.
You have to look at jobs in China much differently than jobs in the US…they simply ARE different. Jobs are shifted where needed.

Who knows if CCAA will shut down during the Olympics or not, but I did check with my agency about the related rumor that no travel documents will be produced between now and then and that no travel would be allowed until after September 20. That rumor appears to be false. We have a 1-23-08 LID, and TA’s for our batch are starting to appear. Our agency expects us to receive our TA this week, and the facilitator reports that CCAA is still working as usual.
So maybe that’s a good sign.

Thank you chinababybarnes for posting!

Just checked the latest update from our agency here in Canada, and they say that they expect referrals to be sent out before the Olympics. I don’t know if that is actual fact, or just their assumption. The next LID for our agency is Feb 9’06, so chances are that they will not be receiving any referrals this go ’round.
Wishful thinking, but fat chance.
My 2 cents for the weekend.

Thanks Chinababybarnes for posting and clarifying.
it does seem that this rumor is false so hopefully people won’t get too worked up over it!

For the sake of several friends who are waiting for referrals during this next batch, I am hoping that referrals will be coming sooner rather than later……

This message is for Big Daddy:
I read your comment and where you wrote your LID is March ’06 (as is ours) and that you will have to renew your fingerprints and paperwork, and that you will have to pay for this, being that you already received your free extension.
My advice to you – start renewing NOW. You will now have to fill out the I-800a since you have already received your free extension, and it is VERY different from the I-600a. There are MANY problems arising from using the I-800a. USCIS is taking FOREVER to process this new form – fingerprints are taking forever.
Again, I am LID March ’06 as well, and we have been trying to file the I-800a and are running into problem after problem.
You can email me if you have any questions (I tried to find your email address to no avail)

As suckie as this might be, this will give them an excuse for a HUGE batch after the O. Don’t you think?
