Nothing new

I have not had anyone report that an agency is saying they have something on the way.

Nothing new on cut off this morning, either. Not yet, anyway.

I’ve been holding off hoping there might be something to report. But it’s 10:00 so I figured better to blog that there isn’t anything at this point.

Is it possible that there will not be any referrals this month?

  2. fjm Says:

It has always been possible that there are no referrals. at one point, there was talk that CCAA might be closed for several months during olympics. So who really knows. I am steeling myself for the continuation of the 2 or 3 day batches and that we will see 2 to 3 days even during the span of CNY and it will take two months or so to get through CNY time. And if that happens, I do think I will have to drop out. sorry to be such a downer. good luck to those who hopefully will get referrals soon.

  3. RumorQueen Says:

Several agencies are expecting referrals to be mailed out on schedule, which means we shouldn’t be far away.

  4. KarenInCa Says:

I’ve said this a couple of times before…Im not shocked by this. I recalled at the end of last year, someone had said that their agency spokesperson said that CCAA was planning on ONLY referring January and February 2006 this year. Everyone gasped when they heard that, but I KNOW a lot of people heard it.
It’s nice to keep up hope as to something different, but really we were told not to.

  5. Motherhood@48 Says:

I would think that referrals will be mailed the day before the Olympics starts. Just my opinion… one I’ve held since the Olympics bugaboo has raised it’s menacing head over adoption referrals.

  6. waiting4Ash Says:

    KarenInCa,
I’ve never forgotten that. I’ll be Jumping-for-Joy if we get to see March 1, 2006 in the December referral batch.

Actually, I really expect them to fall just a few days short of completing February 06 by the December batch.

Sorry for being the party pooper everyone, that is just what my gut tells me.

  7. raf81 Says:

I think the Jan & Feb 06 referrals in 08 is a reasonable expectation. China, in my opinion, is less concerned with “looking bad” by having adoption travel and more concerned with just having so many foreigners in so many parts of their country, especially with the human rights protesters threatening to disrupt the Olympic games. I think they want to control travel as much as possible to prevent a national and international disaster.

  8. fjm Says:

oh, I remember the 2 month thing now. Does anyone remember if that was accompanied by a prediction of 2 months in 2009? What other “bad news” did I go into denial about….

I remember how every one thought that things would “speed” up after 11/05 was referred because there were fewer LIDs…..They actually matched more per month during 11/05 than they are now. Who would have thought.

  9. rjw Says:

Actually, fjm, that was accompanied by a prediction of 1 (one) month in 2009, the monster month of March.

    rjw-
You beat me to it. I was just about to write that I remember reading (and we were all in denial) that 2008 was going to cover Jan and Feb ‘06 and 2009 was going to cover March ‘06. It’s certainly looking that was, as we are already at the 8th month of the year and are expecting referrals to still cover LIDs in Jan ‘06.

I think it’s a fine line to walk between being a “downer” and being realistically informed. Either way… it just plain sucks.

PS On a much happier note…all of us here in Jax are waiting with great excitement for your referral, Ford!!!! Bring it on!

  11. Luna Says:

March has 23 days in it that were week days.  That would mean the average number of days referred would be 2 per month.  I really can’t see that happening, but I’ve certainly been wrong in the past.

  12. penelope1 Says:

I do remember reading earlier this year that in 2008 we’d see Jan. & Feb. 06 referred. However, I don’t remember reading @ that time, that in 2009 March 06′ would be the only month referred. (Only recently I’ve heard rumblings of that.) Could someone PM me or show the link to that discussion.

I guess time will tell. But geez, if that’s the case, I don’t know what I’ll do.

  13. littleperson647 Says:

What is the last date that had been used for the forecast to show how many LID there were for people waiting?

I am looking at the numbers for 2007. Is there alot?

  14. waitingforlaurali Says:

FJM: 2 months in 2009? Really?! I sure hope that prediction does not come true. Where did this prediction come from?

    Say it isn’t so….

Anybody else have another prediction? Hopefully a better one?

  15. shamrock Says:

What day are the referrals supposed to come? I am anxious for all the people waiting!!!

  16. Mom2Isabel Says:

    Luna,
As much as we naturally default to it, it is not the number of days that really matters… it’s the number of LIDs. March 06 is huge. Really hoping it won’t take the whole year. I have a cousin with an April 06 LID and would love to see her referral next year.

    M2I

  17. WaitingforMyla Says:

I hope the predictions for the March 06 referals are wrong. I know March is a huge month, but to take a whole year to get through it is just hard to take. If that is what comes to pass, I am out. What happened to adding more orphanges to the IA program?

  18. Luna Says:

    M2I,
Yes, you’re correct. When I do look at the March 2008 poll I see a total of 846 LID votes for January and February. March has a total of 553. Number of days or number of LIDs…..I still can’t wrap my brain around it taking an entire year to finish the month of March. I sure hope I don’t eat my words someday! =)

  19. ash2008 Says:

I am hoping those predictions are wrong as well! If that’s the case we are looking at one *&%@! of a wait since we won’t be LID until the end of September.

  20. waiting4katerina Says:

I don’t know if this is appropriate, but are we able to do another poll just to see where things play out for the end of March beginning of April?

  21. rjw Says:

I don’t believe the one year prediction either. I’m just saying… It was discussed, though it might have been in the March LIDs thread.

Me, I’m hanging on to the hope that, finally, there is a possibility, however slight, that the rest of my wait may be less than a year, making it about 3 years altogether since LID.

  22. mumarlene Says:

CCAA- China…better make a quick dash to the finish line for August referrals…or they will not be getting the “GOLD” certainly in this event…………….

  23. meilismom Says:

I seem to remember my large China only agency sending out an email (early this year?) saying basically according to their interaction with CCAA there would be more of the same in ‘08 and things would start looking up in ‘09. I remember that it seemed ridiculous to me at the time since we still had so much of ‘08 in front of us and of course I wanted things to improve sooner rather than later. Now, the same info would give me some hope and certainly sounds better than March ‘06 in ‘09. Anybody else remember this?

  24. leigh Says:

Yep. I remember being quite angry that 2008 seemed to be a loss. Little did I know…..

  25. Luna Says:

meilismom,I actually saved that letter from my large China only agency. I’m pretty sure it’s the one you’re thinking of. It was from January, 2008 and it said that CCAA officials wanted all of us to hang in there and things will look up in 2009.

  26. scdelacruz Says:

We’ve been on this journey since November 05. We completed our dossier in a few months and received our LID on 6/10/06. Throughout all of this I have had an eerie sense of calm about the whole process. It was like I was sure it would happen.

Today however, I am experiencing agony and depression for the very first time. I don’t know if it is the heat (yeah, I live in Texas) or the disappointment of not seeing a big batch of referrals yet. Maybe it’s also the fact that I’m approaching 50 and beginning to wonder if I will get to be a mommy.

Okay, it’s time for a good cry.

  27. waiting for megan Says:

My agency stated early in 08 to not expect more than Jan and Feb 06 to be finished by the end of 08, but that 09 would be better. I was so upset that 08 seemed to have been discarded like that, and couldn’t understand how they could predict 09 when it was 12 months away. (I still don’t, so they had to have been told something that they couldn’t share - that the ’slowdown’ was calculated and intentional.) But today, reading that March 06 would take a year to refer just blew me away. I don’t think I can wait another 6 years with my March 07 LID. It’s just not right.

  28. waitingforlaurali Says:

meilsmom: I remember that note from our big, China only agency too (guess we must have the same one). I hope they are right. IF so, we may be seeing our little girl next year also.

scdelacruz: I know how you feel. I will be 47 if we get matched next year. This is our first child too (my husband will be 56). I’ve had those up and down feelings too. Once we have our chilldren in our arms, this won’t matter so much. Sure, we’ll have a few more aches and pains and will be more tired but it will be a whole new life for our families right? Who says life isn’t better after 50..isn’t it the new 40? If so, and 40 is the new 30, I’m really 36! Hey, I like that!

I had a dream last night that I was holding a little baby from China. She was so tiny, I was afraid she would break. Even in my dream, the maternal instinct kicked in.

Well, rambling. Gotta go to bed. Hope to hear more news tomorrow.

  29. Just_the_Ticket Says:

    Hello,

It was our adoption agency who stated that China would only get through February 2006 LIDs by the end of 2008. They are still holding to that prediciton.

We have an LID of February 9, 2006 and our agency is predicting that we will get a proposal in September, which we feel is good news!

I am not saying that our agency is always correct but their prediction is based on the fact that China only got through 2.5 months worth of LIDs in 2007. They did not feel that the rate would pick up substantially this year.

I saved the e-mail that our agency sent us in January with all these predictions but am visiting family right now and cannot check my saved e-mails. Therefore, I cannot tell you right now what my agency’s prediction is for 2009 and after. Sorry!

    Hope this is helpful.

    Cheers to all!
