Kai-lan DVD
Nick Jr has released a Kal-lan DVD!
TwinkleToes loves Kai-lan. Adores her. GlitterGirl has decided it’s a ‘baby show’, but she will still watch it with her little sister sometimes. I’m a bit disappointed that there doesn’t seem to be any Kai-lan merchandise out yet, but I was thrilled to see a DVD for sale.
Maybe if they sell enough DVD’s they’ll put some merchandise out? I wonder if it might help for them to get some correspondence asking for stuff? TT would be over the moon if she had a Kai-lan action figure, probably even more excited if there was one of Kai-lan’s yeye.
It occurs to me that maybe I’m having a double standard in my head somewhere. I’m annoyed at all of the Hannah Montana stuff out there and wanting some Kai-lan stuff. I mean, I like Hannah Montana, but I’m not buying GG clothing with her all over it. I’ve bought her a HM notebook and sheets for her bed and a pretend guitar and a real microphone, but I draw the line at clothing.
Anyway, back to Kai-lan, I’m thrilled they’ve put a DVD out, and I hope this means there will be more stuff to come. Toys and books would be great. And birthday cake decorations. And the party stuff too.

Thank you so much for this info. My daughters love watching this show and it would much more convenient to have them on a DVD rather than taped. Another Christmas present done!

Walmart (in-store only) has a pack that has a little stuffed monkey along with the DVD.

Would boys like Kai-lan too or is it too girly? I hope not.

I bought one at TRU this past weekend. I was going to order it online but figured since it was in stores now I’d grab one. DD’s bday is next weekend and this is one of her gifts. I wish they had party stuff out because I wanted to do a Kai-Lan party for her. But of course they will come out with it in 6 months when it is too late. Oh well.
Glad they now have the DVD as we are never home when it is on now that school has started.

My Emily LOVES Kai lan. She dances when the music comes on and she tickles Mr Sun and everything. It’s so stinking cute. I’m thrilled to hear about the DVD!

I didn’t find Kai-lan “girly” at all. Its really for little kids, IMO. I would be surprised if kids over 5 would like it but I could be wrong.

DD is now 19 months old and has just started to like Kai-Lan. YeYe is her favorite. She gets so excited when he’s on the screen and she yells “Papa”. I’m so happy that there is a cartoon with the grandfather playing a prominent role. Since DD doesn’t have a father, her Papa is very important to her.

I will buy dvd’s (and have this one marked to buy, Little Bit loves Kai-lan now) but I don’t buy clothes with *any* merchandising on it. I refuse to allow my child to be a walking advertisement. That means all of them, even the Winnie the Pooh stuff (which drives my mom nuts). I’d love to see some books featuring KL, books are a big thing in our household. So, I am definitely with you on this one RQ!

My little Sarah was SO excited when it arrived in the mail (I pre-ordered off Amazon). She was jumping up and down and couldn’t get it into the DVD player fast enough. ROTF!!
Count me in on the “don’t like all the licensed products out there” camp. I’m very selective what I buy for DD that is a licensed product.
Nick Jr. has a magazine that always have Kai-lan activities and such in it. I buy it for DD when we travel on the plane.

I am under the impression the Kai Lan merchandising blitz will start up at holiday time and or new episodes, but I can not for the life of me remember where I read it.
In the meantime, I did iron transfers from internet pics onto her clothes. I just wasn’t going to buy Dora……

Nice to know there are like-minded Mums out there. I would buy the DVD and toys but I am hesitant about clothes. We have a few Mickey Mouse or Pooh items but not much. Of course we have tons of Red Sox gear but that is a whole ‘nother animal! Glad to know Kai-Lan is on DVD–Miss G loves the singing and dancing and “go go go!”

I think we can expect to see some of their branded items in the stores for holiday season this year.
As a marketer I tend to try and avoid all packaged, spun and heavily targeted “stuff”…but the Ni Hao stuff just tugs at my heart strings….
As for clothes…RQ it is strictly underware for us…. somehow in my perverted little marketing mind I enjoy that my children sit on their disney characters…and that they are close to their “you know whats” and not their brains or hearts.

My 3 youngest kiddos love Kai-lan, including my 2 year old son. YeYe and HoHo are all it :)

Mia’s birthday party is Saturday. Really not too much extravagance but a time to celebrate with family and a few close adult friends. She’s 3! She loves Dora and it’s amazes me what I’ll do for a Dora party. I was really upset when I went to both Target and Walmart and couldn’t find Dora party supplies. I had assumed they’d have them and waited too late to order online. We’ll settle for a Dora cake and Dora stickers and use pink accessories! :-)

Moose and Goose love Kai Lan. They ask for her all the time- over Dora and Diego. I never pushed KL over D&D- it was their choice. They are beginning to like the Disney Princesses as well- but still favor KL. I can’t wait to buy the DVD- and they would love the merchandise as well. I hope some comes out before Christmas.

I would love Kai-Lan on clothing to further advertise the show and the use of Chinese. My girls are getting a little old for the show, but we have all learned new words watching it.

Jess loves Kai-Lan and watches it on On Demand daily. She has started saying xie xie rather than thank you and calls DH’s father Ye ye. I hope clothes come out soon; I don’t have any problems with her wearing clothes with characters she likes on them. I did see a Kai-Lan shirt on sale at forever21 but it’s not in a kids’ size and I do find little kid cartoon characters on teens clothes a bit strange.

Per some of the toy retail magazines in my office, there is supposed to be some merchandise for Kai Lan out before Christmas. I personally would like to have a Kai Lan doll for my Sarah — she loves her Ho Ho monkey, and can sing “calm, calm, down!”

I googled to find a picture of the t shirt and found this
u tube video
. You can see the t shirt in it. I may buy it for myself, if
forever 21 has the equiv. of a size 8.

I have a 8 year old boy and he loves to watch this show. He loves to learn the new words and build his vocab before we get to go to china…
