Because we’ve always delighted in seeing the referrals from so many other families here on RQ, my sweet husband requested that we share our joy, too.

Twin boys, congratulations!! They are adorable. We were referred a 2 1/2 year old boy in June, so always happy to see more boys referred. Our son is such a joy and yours will bring you double the joy!!
September 30th, 2008 at 12:16 pm
A big congrats on the new babies! Even though I will probably have a looong wait yet, seeing the faces of the newly referred babies keeps me going. Enjoy your little ones!!!
For those of you who were recently referred a boy, or have been referred a boy in the past, I’m just wondering about something. When you originally filled out your paperwork, did you request “either sex”? Also, I thought that pretty much all of the boys available are SN only. We originally chose China because we wanted a girl. I’m open to a boy, but my husband is not. Is there a chance our referral will be a boy? On our paperwork that was sent to China, it says that we’re expecting a girl, almost as though that’s the only option. Does anyone have any insight on this?
September 30th, 2008 at 12:50 pm
I am so happy for everyone. What a fun time!!! Enjoy!!!!
I really enjoy seeing all the little faces.

Congrats to all you parents. This was long awaited for. Happy for you all. Hang in there to the rest of us waiting. Our time will come.

Most of the people I know who were referred a boy put either, or they specifically requested a boy. A couple in
Utah, both Chinese requested a boy from a certain province and believe it or not they were referred just that.
However, there are those that did receive a referral for a boy, but I they are few.
Our ds is a boy, but we wanted a boy and older and he was
SN’s. However, decided on our ds from t he photographs and information that our agency provided. This was before the dramatic change in SN’s process.
Before our new dd joined our family through a disruption we would of considered another boy. We now have 2 dd’s and 1 ds.
Congratualtions to all those that received referrals. It is a wonderful time.
September 30th, 2008 at 2:52 pm
We put either and got a boy! So glad DH painted the room yellow. They do try to put the boys to those who put either. It really depends on what babies they are placing that batch. The boy statistic was 10% and that included SN which is more a PAP led match and there are people who put down either boy or girl. So it’s very small chance. Our agency had said when we started that 97% referred are girls. So we understand that meant boys were available, just unlikely at 3%. I’m aware it’s a shock but I’m always curious why people felt that gender was a sure thing in their referral request? Maybe it’s all in the agency prep? I was uncomfortable with the idea we knew what we were having so we put down either. We didn’t have any kids yet and really didn’t have a preference. We are paperchasing again and put down either. I like the surprise.

lilacpillow,
Our thoughts and prayers are with you. We went through a similar thing this past Spring. It is never easy… I hope everything works out for you.
September 30th, 2008 at 4:35 pm
Krissy J: our home study agency told us that if you put either you can receive a boy or a girl. She told us a couple put down ‘either’, but figured they would mostly likely get a girl based on percentages. They were surprised when they got a boy.

All your babies are gorgeous! Congratulations!!!!!!
Dirgy, in the past we’ve seen families post a photo of just their baby’s hand or foot. Maybe this would be okay for the time being? Still within the rules, yet being able to post a photo.

KrissyJ, I am like you, I am open to either but my dh wants a girl. We originally put “either sex” and when we questioned our agency we were told our chances were actually a lot higher than that 3% because if we were the only ones in the batch that said either and their was only 1 boy in the batch then we would get the boy, it depends on how many in your batch said either and how many boys were in the batch. You can however change your cover letter to state that you request a girl. they said that you can not refuse a referral based on gender or if you did you would not get another.

Thanks for the information you share about new babies. So nice for waiting families to see the little faces!!!
I have one suggestion though…
You sort out the blogs in 4 categories (the one with pictures, the one without pictures, the SN, the one with music).
Well, I would add an additional one : blogs of expedited referrals. In fact, it is quite confusing to discover families LID late 2007 that had received THE CALL (lucky them).
Hope you understand my view.
Best regards
French Marianne

We are a SN family that just got TA this week! We’re headed to China to meet our son (who turns 2 next week) on the 23rd. He’ll be in our arms on the 27th!
The trip should be a blast as we’re taking our 2 1/2 year old daughter (a Guangdong girl ~ adopted Feb ‘07) with us.
Congratulations to all the new referrals!

We just received TA for our little man, Johnathan. We appreciated so much having the chance to follow other’s journeys through here during each one of our “waits.” So we would like to add our site to the SN list so that other families waiting can choose to follow along as they wait. :)
Thanks so much and Congrats to all the referrals!
