Poll Results, month sizes
I published poll results the other day from the recently closed poll. I’ve played around with the numbers some, and I figure one of the first things I should show is how the months look.
As a reminder:
- You can’t compare numbers side by side from two different polls.
- People closer to a referral are here in larger numbers than people farther away from their referral.
- You can’t compare numbers on this poll that are more than a few months from each other.
That means you can’t compare next March with this March. You can compare next February March April and May with each other, but you can’t compare them with this March and April.

One thing that hits home for me from this view is that it must be very true that people with more imminent referrals are here in larger numbers, meaning that as time passes the “farther out” months in future polls will grow. For example look at April 2007 which, based on what was going on at the time (rush to beat the new rules) should be HUGE, at only 214.

I’m stuck on the March 2006 number. My eyes just keep going back to it.

Yeah, Waiting4Ash–I’m at the END of that March 2006 #, and I’m stuck on it too. Sigh…

RQ – thanks so much for doing this!
I think your total at the bottom though is wrong. I’m getting 3,218.

Hi RQ,
Just wondering should this say…
but you can compare (as opposed to can’t) them with this March and April?
November 7th, 2008 at 10:47 am
RQ – I just realized that your number is 191 higher than mine, which is the exact number from the poll left in February. So please ignore my post ;-)

RQ – how much bigger is March’06 than recent past months? Is it comparable to November ’05 or is it just much bigger than any month we have seen before?

I am new to this site and do not know what these poll numbers indicate. Can someone be kind enough to explain this poll to me, leah697@yahoo.com.
Thanks,
Leah

This might be a dumb question and/or the info might be somewhere on the RQ site, but… are there stats for the # of babies referred per month out there somewhere? Either from RQ followers or other. Just curious what the past estimate of NSN referrals per month is so we that we would see how that would draw out or (crossing fingers) NOT draw out the month of March 06 too terribly long. I guess this is a “quota” question. Even though we don’t know for sure if there is a CCAA quota.

Looking at the numbers for March 2006, I fear that month alone is going to take most of 2009 to get through! Yikes!
November 7th, 2008 at 11:53 am
Ugh! We just received confirmation from our agency that CCAA only got through 2/17/06. With the 18th & 19th being weekend days, we just missed with our 2/20/06 LID. Hopefully the good news will mean an early December placement – an early Christmas present to make up for not being able to bring Kady home before Christmas. Best wishes to all who received referrals!

My Husband and I are considering SN. Has anyone in Ontario, Canada just recently switched? If so, would it be okay if you emailed me so I could ask you a few questions?
Thank you,
Nathalie

Looks like March is as big as we thought it was. Yikes, I think we will be seeing a lot of 2 day batches soon. I belive May of ’06 may be the ones to hit 4 years. Maybe even April ’06…that stinks no matter how you look at it.
November 7th, 2008 at 1:14 pm
momto4hopefully,
I think you are right about the 2 day batches….and sadly, some of the days in March 2006 are quite large so maybe we will see a one day referral batch……of course, there could also be partial days.
I also think that April or May 2006 could likely see the 4 year mark.
Sad…….very sad.

RQ what about Poll to Poll comparison?
The March 3, 2008 poll shows March 2006, April 2006, & May 2006 numbers higher than in the poll posted above.
Just thought it was interesting since we are MUCH closer to those dates now.
Attrition?
November 7th, 2008 at 2:11 pm
Moonpie – my agency says that they are referring around 550-600 babies per month. I am not sure what everyone else’s agency is saying or what the real statistical numbers are!
November 7th, 2008 at 2:51 pm
I bet that includes SN?
November 7th, 2008 at 4:34 pm
Do not like to see March at all, but I do not like to see April either…. Sorry folks, I am a May LID-er and feeling so sad this month I think I am going to cry till referrals arrive next month :-(

I am sure this has been addressed somewhere on RQ likely more than once, so if someone could direct me as to where to find it I would appreciate it. Or if anyone at all has experience with our situation as explained on our blog in a recent post titled “Difficult Decisions”, (www.journeytomialynn.blogspot.com) I would appreciate your advice, thoughts & input. What do we know about letting your I-171H expire & becoming a Hague case? I am just surprised if this is such a relevant option as it has recently been explained to us (explained on my blog), that we haven’t heard more about more people doing it. Any help is appreciated. Feel free to comment on my blog post or follow up with me here if that is appropriate RQ ettiquette.

Was 2/20 included? How come it takes so long now for us to know the cutoff date? Insult to injury. Is this a 2 day batch?
The CCAA and adoption agencies should stop taking taking new NSN Dossiers. It’s really wrong at this point.

BigDaddy,
Funny you should mention this. Someone on a board that I frequent posted this today:
{Hi, yesterday our agency posted on their website that they are no longer taking applications for the regular China program.}
She had some other more personal things to say, but I will leave those for her to share her feelings if she so chooses, but I was willing to pass on that this looks like it may be starting to happen. Or maybe it has already been happening & just not mentioned. We don’t know, but thought that it was interesting.
November 7th, 2008 at 5:59 pm
BigDaddy – our agency also announced today that they would no longer be accepting NSN applications, only SN.

2 DAYS … What else is there to say that hasn’t been said already … :(
What a way to start a weekend …

JourneytoMia – this is a personal decision.
You CAN let your paperwork expire, as long as it is up-to-date before your referral.
People that were LID prior to the I800A and Hague requirements often don’t want to let their paperwork expire because if they keep it current they can continue to do the form prior to the I800A (the I600A) which is a lot easier.
If you let your paperwork expire, you have to file the I800A no matter what.
Personally, we are not letting our paperwork expire because we have a 5/06 LID. But if we were in 2007 I think we would.

Thanks so much noendinsight for your thoughts! With an LID of 07/20/07, my goodness, if we had to renew~what is it every eighteen months, we would maybe have to do it two or three & maybe more times! With an update costing $2000.00-$3150.00 in the state where we live (Which we can not believe BTW! Just moved here last week & have talked to about seven agencies!) we don’t want to have to do it any more than absolutely required. I hope a lot of people will chime in & let us know what they think on this topic. Thanks again!
