Holiday schedules
Looking over our calendar for the next six weeks is scary. It’s going to require a lot of organization and planning and squeezing homework into available spaces.
Little TwinkleToes has proven good enough in her dance class that she’s been invited to be in a production of The Nutcracker. She’s only got three eight counts worth of moves to remember, she does them once, then takes an older girl’s hand and walks around with her during the party some and then does her three eight counts again and then exits the stage. And then she goes back out at the end of the finale dance, but during that one she just has to run around the stage a bit and then take a few bows and blow some kisses. But, there are lots of rehearsals and even a fitting to go to for that little bit of time on stage. Somebody help me, I think this makes me a stage mom. But, she knows the older girl she’ll be with on stage, and she’s so far had fun doing this. As long as it’s fun, I’m all for it.
GlitterGirl also has extracurricular stuff going on, and both GG and TT’s schools have Christmas programs that take place in the evening.
And both GG and TT are going to be in a few parades. TT with her dancing school and GG with one of her extracurricular groups. I’m assuming they won’t be near each other in the parade line up, so RK and I will have to split up and one of us go with each of them.
We already have invitations to several Christmas parties, some that GG is invited to and we can come if we want (and we do), and others that RK and I are invited to, and several that the whole family is invited to. I doubt RK and I will make it to any of the “for grown ups only” parties this year. Didn’t last year either, but I’m not complaining. Time enough for that when the girls are older.
I’ve got my Thanksgiving menu worked out and I think we’re having 14 people at our house for dinner. My mother tried to talk me into taking a trip out of town that Friday morning and I politely declined. She’s a bit bent out of shape about it, but I’m pretty sure she’ll survive. We’re putting up Christmas decorations that weekend. And eating leftovers.
Five and a half weeks until Christmas. Our second Christmas with TwinkleToes. Two years ago we were oh-so-close and yet oh-so-far from our referral. And now that little girl we waited for is such a bubbly little personality, such an intricate part of our little family. And such a large part of the family calendar over the next five weeks.
Life is good.

Hi RK,
I’m am glad to hear all is fabulous in the kingdom! For all that you’ve done for the rest of us you certainly deserve every blessing. We have been home from China for 2.5 months and I still check in from time to time but am soooooo busy it is hard to squeeze it in. You should know though, that I tell everyone who asks me about the adoption process that your site is what got me through all the dark days. So thanks again and all the best for a Magical Holiday Season!!

As someone who has followed you from the original blog and was logged in at what I assume was nearly the same time, I agree completely. Life is very, very good.
Last year, dd had no clue what was going on at Christmas. She’s starting to get some idea of it now at 2 1/2.

Oh The Nutcracker! Wonderful memories as you watch them perform each new character year after year. From the baby mouse all the way to the Sugar Plum Fairy. The year my DD was 9, she was invited to perform as an Angel with the Moscow Ballet that was touring our city! Heaven!

I love hearing about the girls and how well they are doing. It seems like yesterday that you were awaiting TT, and now you have a calendar that is full of activities. How wonderful! We also decorate the Friday after Thanksgiving, and remember what a fun time it was when our children were growing up. And about you Mother being upset about a trip, trust me, she will get over it!

Two years ago, I was a maniac during Thanksgiving; our referrals were due any day. I kept running to the computer (between courses) and refreshing (the computer…not myself!), hoping beyond hope that I would see my daughter’s face for the first time. As it turned out, the referrals came a week later but on December 1st with the first glimpse, the heartache ended.
Lucy’s Mom- I LOVE that you have the tree up already. I had (sort of) the same idea. I wanted Isabel to experience Christmas as well. Unfortunately, we didn’t leave until Jan 19th. Did that keep me from taking down the tree?? NO WAY!
As a testament to my mental state at that time, I actually thought it would remain green the two weeks I was away…without water! Needless to say, my livingroom looked like the set from a Charlie Brown Christmas special.

Mom2Isabel,
I am an allergy sufferer so therefore I have an artificial tree ): But, that means I can leave it up if I need to until Spring since I am determined that Lucy will see our tree this Christmas:)
We are currently in our 4th week of waiting for TA and hope we can travel in December? Time will tell.
