Today’s the Day

Finally, it’s Twilight Day. And Date Night with my soul mate. We’ve been married more than a decade and he’s still my soul mate.

We survived last night, and he had taco fixin’s all ready and in the fridge when I got home with GG. He and TT got home first and he made them tacos and then put it all together in the fridge so all I had to do was get it out and nuke the parts that needed to be warm and then assemble what we wanted to eat.

My question yesterday about how single mom’s do it was more along the lines of what to do when two kids need to be in two places at the same time. I guess I’d probably ask one of my parents to help out, I know it’s possible, I see lots of mom’s doing it. It’s just that it sometimes kicks our rear end doing this with the two of us, I have lots of respect for people who do it solo.

I loved reading through the comments to the Blue Square yesterday. I was reminded of one of my favorite books, Flatland. I first read it maybe 15 or 20 years ago and I still remember my brain imploding on itself as I did. More dimensions than three? Yeah, I’d understood the possibilities before, but that book really opened up an understanding of what that might mean. And it does it easily – by looking at how two dimensional objects might have a hard time understanding the third dimension, we can get a better idea of how hard it is for us to understand an extra dimension. The book was written back in the 1880’s, so it’s really stood the test of time at this point.

I need to pull it out and read it again. I remember getting RK to read it after we’d been dating about six months. I was never convinced if it persuaded him I wasn’t strange, or that I was even more strange than he’d first thought.

Have a wonderful Friday everyone. Hopefully we’ll see the beginnings of some rumors next week.

I went to the midnight premiere with my teenage daughters. Pretty much awful. But then we all kind of expected that. Go in with some humor and think of it as a comedy and you will have fun. My favorite quote heard after the movie was over – spoken from a boyfriend to his girlfriend:

“so let me get this straight… the vampires do not burn in the sun… they just… SPARKLE???”

like I said keep good humor and stay focused on the uh… post movie fun… and your night will be perfect.

Have a great weekend, RQ. RK is pretty special to have your dinner ready when you and GG arrived home. How different the times are now when hubby’s jump right in with the cooking.

My dh and I went to Twilight this afternoon. I went in thinking it would be a disaster-but it was ok. Nothing can compare to the book, right? We went to a 1pm matinee so the best part was seeing all of the teenagers coming in as we left all dressed up in their Twilight garb and hyperventilating. Well, that and my husband running into a coworker in the theater. They were both mortified to be spotted at a ‘girl movie.’

Very exciting some of you got your DH’s to go with.

It’ll be quiet around here this weekend. Such a good book series.

Since today is my b-day, DH was a good sport and took me to see twilight. He was by far in the minority in the theater! It was a little cheesy, but I think that it stayed pretty true to the main plot of the book. Edward, Emmet, Jasper and even Carlise were very easy to look at!

    Hope you enjoyed it!
