We have two agencies reporting that the CCAA box has changed to show the cut-off is the 23rd.
We have a few agencies reporting a package on the way. However, one of those agencies is not expecting referrals. So… who knows.

I just have to comment about what someone said about their agency. It seems an agency alluded to someone that with a very late 2007 LID they will have an approximate 4 year wait??? Yes, the wait will be 4 years, but that is for March 2006!! Why can agencies do this?? Isn’t it fraud because they will continue to charge for updating paperwork. We were 1-2007 and expected a 2013 referral. It is likely it will take an entire year to get through February-May 2007 alone because everyone rushed to get in before the requirements changed. I think a late 2007 LID will have at least a 7 year wait. I think it unfair to keep making unfair estimates and promises. I hate seeing so many broken hearts.

Okay…I am “new” to RQ, I DO know what an R5 means…that is good! But, what is “cut off” does that mean the 23rd is in or they went up to the 23rd???? Can someone explain!
Ethier way I will be happy…I promise!

Congratulations to the new families! Enjoy every moment of the packing, unpacking, weighing that will come your way. Especially enjoy every moment in China. Try to remember that this moment with your new child only happens once, and every second is memorable forever!

Congrats to all new families.
Also to say I could not agree more to what wait4ever says : why do agencies continue to lie to families re: wait times? It is really unfair. Sounds like families are just fee providers to them. How mean from them really!!!!
Courage to everyone.

I don’t remember having a report of ‘the box’ changing before a report of ‘the call’ before. Is this the first time that this has happened? I hope it happens more often in the future. Seems like we are usually scrambling around trying to make heads or tails of the referral calls coming in to try to verify the cut off rumors.
Congrats to all of the families that are about to see their precious babies’ faces! (Especially Aust2China!!!)

If I remember right, the box use to change a day or two before referrals arrived and then too many agencies complained about this so CCAA started waiting until all agencies received their referrals before changing the box.

wait4ever-are you saying it’s going to take over a year to cover through March 2006? At this point the wait is just under 3 years.
December 10th, 2008 at 11:40 am
Although I am happy for the people who are finally getting their babies, I am getting weary of this wait. With a log in date of 1-4-07, I am lowering my expectations that I will ever get our baby girl. We are fortunate to have a 7 year old daughter and a 5 year old son of our own (and an adorable baby-sized “dorkie” dog to pass the time), but I am not done, and at 39 my time is running out. I just gave away all of my daughter’s Size 4 dresses and P.J.s that I was saving for the baby sister. I guess I haven’t totally given up hope, however, because I haven’t given away all of her infant and toddler dresses. Something has got to give. Something has to happen. We can’t all go on this way. Please, G-d, give all of us the strength and peace to get through this wait. Let us know in our hearts that it will all be worth it and what will happen will be meant to be. Remember us and all of the precious children waiting for a forever family. Our family is not complete, I feel it in my heart…somewhere there is a baby either in an orphanage/foster care or waiting to be born to us, either here or in China. I feel her presence.

Hi,
I am very much a lurker here, but I had this share this story about a large China only agency. This happened to me at work 2 weeks ago. A woman came up to me and said she had heard I had adopted from China several years ago and wanted to ask me some questions. Great! She was in process of selecting an agency and wanted input. As we talked, I asked her what this large China only agency told her about the wait. Believe it or not, and I quote: “The agency says the wait is currently 36 months”. So this woman was basing her decisions to start with this agnecy believing the wait to be 36 months. The agency NEVER shared with her what is happening with the wait – 5 days of referrals a month – and what her calculation could actually be. As painful as it was, I had to enlighten her.
After she did the math and figured out how each month the wait gets longer and longer, she was so angery at this agency and of course decided to rethink her and her husband’s decision about China.
As people complain about the CCAA – I say a good portion of blame falls to the agencies for not betruthful with clients. This is such a recent example of a well known agency trying to scam unsuspecting potential parents.
I feel for the agencies – they have to be hurting financially in a big way. But telling someone the wait is currently 36 months borders on fraud. Thank you for listening and congratulations to all those getting referral this month!
December 10th, 2008 at 12:11 pm
As far as I’m concerned the 23rd is fact.
My agency e-mailed us that the box has changed. We usually get that information 2 weeks AFTER I have read it here. Their news is ALWAYS old news to me.
If MY agency is reporting… it must be true!
December 10th, 2008 at 12:31 pm
Congratulations to all the families receiving news about their new children. What a wonderful holiday season it will be for you. Enjoy!
Please post pictures as soon as you can those of us waiting really appreciate it.
Thanks

donandtamara,
sadly, yes. It will most likely take all of 2009 to get through March 2006. Hopefully, not into 2010, but noone really knows. I expect lots of very, very small batches. I know many people share this exact view. I hated dropping out, but our wait would of made my husband 50 at referral. That is with a 6 year total wait time. I packed up 2 huge tubs of baby “stuff” I collected over the last 3 years. Amazing how depressing that was. So many hopes and dreams that fit into 2 boxes. Our nursery is becoming my office. I just can’t look at it empty. I just hope it works out for everyone else.
December 10th, 2008 at 12:33 pm
Momto4, that is just criminal that unsuspecting people are being told a 3 year wait. I understand we were also told the wait is currently ‘6 months, 9 months, 12 months, etc.’ but that was when people didn’t really expect this wait to go over 18 months, let alone the current 3 years. It is mind boggling that dossiers are still being accepted by agencies and China alike. IT IS FRAUD at this point. With 5 days of referrals a month that woman would have an 18 year wait if she were LID now. Why doesn’t our state department look into this and start posting warnings about new China adoptions?
December 10th, 2008 at 12:40 pm
Momto4 – I have to say I can’t even understand why that woman would consider getting on board after being told upfront that the wait would be 36 months. We would not have chosen this if we had heard 3 years upfront…
I can’t believe the agencies are still not being honest. It is insane. Hopefully folks find this site and can do the math themselves.

Congratulations to all those who will be seeing your babies face for the first time!

Our agency emailed us last night and said the box has changed to reflect the cut off was the 23rd but to get our papers in order and ensure everything is up to date immediately. I am making a huge assumption that they are thinking we are next. The light at the end of the tunnel has finally arrived…..tears to my eyes
LID February 28, 2006……
December 10th, 2008 at 12:56 pm
We just talked with our agency about 3 weeks ago. We want to adopt again, and we are more than willing to wait however long it takes to go back to China. (when you go- you will understand) Our agency told us that if we log in over the summer, the wait will at least be 6-7 years. They are asking everyone to choose the SN way to adopt from China now. However, they also said that they expect the wait to stay very slow until all of 2006 is complete. At that point, the number of people who are adopting has decreased, and they believe they will begin to do a larger amount of days at that time. Yet, they still do not ever think it will go back to the 6-12 month wait of a few years ago. We explained that a 6-7 year wait is fine for us because of the monetary expense. They also said that they don’t think China will ever close down- there are too many children there. I realize this is just one agency’s thinking on the subject. But, I appreciate the honesty from our agency. They have always been very truthful with us.
Of course, China is China. They can do whatever they want. Our experience with China was amazing and that is why we would wait to go back. Our daughter is also very healthy, and she was very well taken care of.
I remember very well the pain of the wait, but somehow- you just have to get your mind off of the wait and try to live without your child for a little longer. Life without Lily was rough, but now, the wait is the farthest thing from our minds.
Just my 2 cents…

Our Agency sent an email saying that babies are coming home for families with LID’s up through and including 2/23 and that April 2007 is in the review room.
We are an April 2007 LID family. We were told when we started that the wait would be 12-18 months but our agency has been totally honest with us every step of the way letting us know of the increase in time each and every month. I have no idea when our daughter will come home to us, I just know, she will.

I’m so sorry for all families that have had to cope with this wait. We knew going in that it would be years. But sometimes reading about unhappily waiting people adopting their 3rd and 4th and even 2nd child in this forum is difficult for us. My husband and I are childless, and with our LID in 2008, it is looking like we may never experience first steps, first day fo school, boyfriends, graduation…at all. It is hard to wait behind all of those families who already have what we so desperately hope for.
December 10th, 2008 at 2:05 pm
First of all…thank you ‘waiting for Lily’ for sending us your blog spot. Miss Lilly is just precious and so smiley.
‘momto4′…I know exactly which agency you are talking about. Is it lying? Let’s look at the phrasing….’currently people have waited 36 months for their referral’. Not lying, but very deceptive. This is ‘our’ agency. My DH and I got on the phone when we started checking out agencies listed wait times on their websites (August 2006) and brought to our agencies attention that their statement of 15 months was not truthful considering we knew the wait for those who had LID’s for that August had already waited several months past this timeline. Shortly after the wait time came off the website w/ instructions to call if you would like to know the wait….
I guess that is why I am angrier than some of you and that is because of this agencies deception. I guess that is why I am always trying to caution others who have not signed up yet…I am trying to warn others and protect them from what my DH and I have learned the hard way. I can usually tell by others statements who is also using certain agencies.
December 10th, 2008 at 2:14 pm
WooHoo! Glad to hear that calls are starting to come in! Our agency just emailed that they received a few expedited referrals today. Their next LID is the 28th so no other referrals were expected. They also confirm the 23rd as a cut off.

I can’t believe that it has been 26 months of waiting for us and there has been no speed up like we were wishing for. We live in a small town and everyone keeps asking when we will have our daughter, I think that they are starting to believe that we were lying about adopting a child, or that we are crazy for still waiting. Well we will still hang in there and hope that things will speed up, congratulations to all of you who finally got your referals I cannot imagine what that feels like. lid 10/11/06

littleperson 647,
info about March 2006 comes from RQ polls and very large amount of people logged-in in for March. Most of are in agreement that based on current trends(from the last 2 yrs.), that it will take 1 year approx. to get through March. I expect to see some months coming up with only 2 days referred at a time. I hope this helps.
December 11th, 2008 at 8:32 pm
DebL………my agency too.
Tricky Tricksters!
“we don’t predict the future……but it is currently a 36 month wait”
um….we signed on for a current wait of 8-10 months
close to 3 years ago.
and funny this agency is Loved by so many, most of whom have adopted before with them
but still…….tricky tricky wording. As if they don’t know that paps in the research phase of adoption are asking about their own potential wait rather than the “current” people in China.
not technically a lie.
December 12th, 2008 at 9:43 pm
Dear Sagent…What is your LID? I believe WaitinWI has our agency too. Our is 1/07. It is really quite disgusting.
I had singed up for one of their yahoo groups and one time I had put out there what I thought and of course a worker chimed in. The yahoo group is quite inactive, but since we know that the workers are on the group too you can’t really vent.
